I have such a thirst
for novels written in languages foreign to my own. I could get through a Spanish novel and would struggle but probably be able to make my way through an Arabic book but only if the content was related to Islam. Besides that, there’s always this feeling that something is missing from my intellect, my heart. There really should be a global effort to translate all books into every language. Imagine...

Why did Allah create marriage? We cannot speak for Allah, but we can theorize and reflect on this question.
For starters, marriage is so important to the human condition that Allah has made it so that, if a person has the means to marry and has no fear of mistreating his wife or of committing unlawful acts if he does marry, then marriage in this case is mustahabb (preferred). Allah made marriage an obligation upon those who are able.
There are many benefits that marriage brings to the dunya (i.e. worldly benefits). Marriage not only completes our deen but protects it as well. Through marriage we have the ability to procreate and keep the human race alive. As women, we ourselves are provided for and taken care of through marriage.
We know that husband and wife in the dunya will be husband and wife in Jannah (Paradise). And Jannah is a place of nothing but rewards. There are no obligations in Paradise, no worldly benefits. So why does the marriage remain intact then once we've reached Jannah? Maybe it is because a husband and wife are the purest companions to each other. Their companionship is so pure that it lasts into and throughout Jannah, the most pure place. In Jannah, where you get all that your heart desires, you will also get your spouse. Subhanallah
The purpose for the creation of marriage, can be found between Adam & Hawaa. Adam was lonely in the heavens so Allah swt created Hawaa straight from Adam's own rib and made her his wife and made him her husband. She literally completes him, being created from part of his body. The same way she completes his deen. Therefore, the true essence of marriage, the purpose of its creation, may be the joy and comfort of the companionship it brings.
