#yarn fails

To make myself feel better about the horrendous failure of my stash busting granny square cardigan, I made a shawl out of superwash merino. It WAS very lovely. Then because it had a funny smell, I put it through the delicate cycle in cold water and hung it out to air dry.

To be fair I asked Google, and Google can't be trusted anymore. I should have gone to ANY of the 3,000 yarn blogs that I follow.

So now I'm making a sweater in acrylic. Can't go wrong with acrylic now, can I? I've been at it for weeks. I think it's gonna be really nice. The back is done, and I'm working on the front now. I think because I've had two projects go wrong, I'm not rushing it.

My elbows are starting to hurt though. But at least it has nice colors.

I keep forgetting that my friend smokes. It’s not really an issue for me - I don’t mind, I barely even notice. 

But.

I took some yarn projects with me last night for movie night. One to work on, one in case I ran out of yarn on the first project (it’s a very near thing) and one because she had seen a picture of the WIP and wanted a closer look. Which devolved into a tutorial, as she’d never done that technique before.

Now they all reek of smoke. I can smell them from across the room. I can hardly bear to touch them to lay them out to clean, let alone work with them. There’s no way I can sit with this yarn in my lap for hours.

This blows. 2 of those projects were deadlined for Hallowe’en. It’s gonna be at least a week before I can touch them again, as they sit in their quarantine bags with charcoal, trying to un-stink.

Just....urgh.
