JIT 3: Personal Branding Reflection
1) Based on my Facebook activity, my current Klout score is 27. Klout claims that in the last 90 days I have made 25 posts, 0 comments and 0 likes. I’m pretty sure that is inaccurate because I know that I have both made and received comments and likes. A score of 27 is fairly mediocre. It is most likely low because I tend not to post a lot on Facebook. I use it more to view what is going on in the lives of friends.
According to Klout, President Obama has a score of 99 and Justin Beiber has a score of 92. With that said, I think a reasonable Klout score goal to have by the end of the semester for myself would be 35. By posting, commenting and liking more and by friending people I meet throughout the semester, I don’t think a score of 35 is unreasonable.
The Yasiv tool was very interesting to interpret. I had 2 extremely large clusters to the left and right. The cluster on the left is friends from John Carroll. The cluster on the right is friends from high school. The small cluster at the bottom of the web is my family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.). The little cluster of blue in the middle at the top is my boyfriend's friends from high school which interestingly had connections to both my John Carroll and high school clusters.

2) I learned that by posting something on my social media profile, it is possible for it to spread like wildfire if it strikes my friends' interest. If I was starting my own business, I could post information about products on my Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. Since so many of my friends are connected with one another, if a few people repost information about my products, the information will surely reach people in my network. In addition, if they repost or like my products, my information will reach people that I don't even know.
3) Currently, the image I portray on social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram is a typical college student that is involved in various activities. This image is most likely portrayed through my pictures with my sorority and tennis team, friends, and shares.
I rarely use Twitter, except to post for my marketing classes so that makes me look like a well-educated in the field of social media, advertising and marketing.
My desired personal brand is a motivated, successful student. By cleaning up some of my pictures and friends on Facebook and Instagram, I can reach my desired personal brand. Continuing to show that I am involved in school activities is okay as long as the posts are tasteful. Using LinkedIn more than other sites will also allow me to achieve this personal brand.
