Your affection, tender like a fading tide / June & Wik
@June
Returning from his month back in Russia, Wiktor needed a few days to settle back in the Italian culture and climate, to the language that was so far off than his naive one. But it was rather easy this time, unlike the previous years when he had been off in England or other Italian towns. Especially now that he had a job he enjoyed and friends he cherished. He was early, as always, sitting on a cold bench at the Main Street of Ecrin, waiting for the blonde to arrive so they could go grab a coffee at their usual spot at the Corner cafe.
Rubbing his numb hands together, his differently colored eyes swept around the passerbys with a light smile on his full lips. He recognized her even with her back to him, her blonde hair straight under the fluffy hat that protected her from the cold. Most people barely managed the temperatures this winter, but for him the weather was mild, having lived through far worse winters in his hometown. He moved behind her and wrapped a hand around her shoulders, leaning over one to bump their heads together. "Hey, stranger. Happy new year with delay." He grinned as he poked her side with an elbow, stirring her to give her a hug. It had been almost two years and a half since they met and she was one of the closest friends she had. So this kind of affections were nothing unusual.
