At first, he’s just a ghost, wandering among the living people with no one noticing him. All he can do is to aimlessly walk around from one side to the other and envy the alive and the dead, as he is apparently neither. He quickly learns not stay outside after sunset, because ayakashi are truly terrifying creatures. While constantly taking refuge at random shrines, he wonders once or twice why he can’t remember who he was before dying. But more than anything else, he tries to understand why he didn’t pass on after his apparent death.
