4. How do you see this ship?
well that's quite the can of worms. ill do my best
it is IMPERATIVE that they are best friends. first and foremost, no matter what form it manifests in, their relationship is built off of how deeply important they are to each other. i enjoy any flavor of mettalphys as long as it acknowledges that they have influenced each other's lives in ways that neither of them have the words to properly express. i could go on for actual hours about my personal mettalphys agenda but i'll keep it brief here and maybe elaborate another time. aka ASK ME ABOUT METTALPHYS IM NOT GOING TO BE HAPPY WITH LEAVING IT HERE
i like to think that alphys was sort of an awakening for mettaton. before he met her he was too repressed and pathetic to experience things like the elusive feeling of "attraction". he was kind of convinced he was entirely aroace until he met her and developed a bit of a puppy crush on her. demiro mettaton will save me. it's sort of romantic sort of platonic sort of something else. the important thing is that she changed his life and he's happier* for it. he NEVER manages to kick the crush btw. he will pine after her ever so slightly for the rest of his life
and alphys, of course, also cares about him deeply. she doesn't hold romantic-adjacent feelings for him the way he does for her, but he is nonetheless incredibly important to her. i think she is objectively a little bit attracted to him but tries very hard to not let that influence their relationship much. she's embarrassed about it and they don't talk about it. she's also oblivious to the fact that mettaton is kind of head over heels for her
AND of course i NEED to mention the resentment ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ the resentment is one of the most important parts. you CANNOT have mettalphys without it i fear. every time i look at mettaton's dialogue and he makes a backhanded or curt comment towards or regarding alphys i start screaming and crying and thrashing violently. he kind of hates her but he loves her so god damn much. he despises what she did to him but he's eternally grateful for it. You understand. neither of them talk to each other they don't communicate they SUCK SO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE HOW COMPLICATED THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS AND HOW MANY THINGS THEY FEEL ABOUT EACH OTHER AND THE WAY THEIR ENTIRE CAREERS ARE BUILT OFF OF ONE HUGE JOINT FRAUD SCHEME THAT THEY CAN NEVER REVEAL OR TJHEY LOSE EVERYTHING ADN EACH OTH ok i just spent like a solid ten seconds on the verge of tears unable to breathe because i thought about the note in alphys' trash can on the genocide route so i'm going to move on

13. What's something they like to do together?
i think they would be SUCH fucking gossips. just absolutely awful. once they get into the groove they're barely even awkward with each other. TMI ceases to exist. they lose track of time laughing their asses off and cringing at unfortunate circumstances together. mettaton tells her something awful and she snorts in the middle of sipping her drink and accidentally shoots it out of her nose at him and they laugh about it for like ten minutes straight. I need this

hmmmm. i don't think alphys necessarily minds PDA but she does get kind of embarrassed about it. plus it's METTATON. he likes doing PDA but he's more showy and kind of performative about it if anyone's watching. it's still genuine but it's certainly played up for the audience's sake. anything more tender is usually private. that being said i also don't typically see them making many public appearances together, and particularly not in a context that would let them be very affectionate, except perhaps post-pacifist? who knows. well. i'm supposed to. i'm the one answering the question. but i don't so that's all you get
22. A headcanon you have for this ship?
just one? okay. this will be fully headcanon. i have no canon basis for this. in deltarune they're online friends. the entire internet outage they're thinking about each other and waiting anxiously to get signal again so they can tell each other about the crazy shit (and mundane shit, too) that happened while they were deprived of each other's company
