so it's incredibly sad to me that a freshly free isabela immediately gets on luis' ship, the ship that prob carried her to antiva and a nightmare marriage when she was nineteen and reeling. she's sleeping in luis' bed bc that's the captain's bed. the ship is called the siren's call, you know, the song of a creature that is luring you to your death by promising you love and adoration.

and also that creature is invariably a woman. a fantasy of a powerful, irresistible woman — but you're free to hate her and most of all, a siren's voice is inherently Not To Be Trusted.

am now considering fenris, freshly free, alone in a manor he believes is danarius' until act 2. surrounded by death. it is so enormous and so quiet and so empty. when was the last time he ever got to be alone, truly? is it perhaps pertinent that his huge act 3 character quest, the one where he confronts danarius, the one where varania shifts his personal paradigm to a catastrophic degree is titled 'alone'?

it's danarius' manor, and it's fenris' mansion. he didn't even get to take it from danarius. he's just waiting there. 'we should move on,' is his base response, but he's not, is he?

Varric: So what do you do in that gigantic house all day? Fenris: Dance, of course. Varric: Really? Fenris: I run from room to room, choreographing routines. Varric: You're actually joking. Alert the Chantry! They need to put this on the calendar! Fenris: And you thought I was always serious.
