HIII sorry for taking such an atrociously long time to respond to this. i've been trying to feel extremely cool + chill + normal and largely failing. basically beloved friend alex @peglarpapers and i have already discussed this and he would have a bunch of really fun ones!!!

T_T I wish bathroom-related disabilities weren’t still today the subject of so much baseless ableism and hatred.. When you learn that kind of shame, it can kill you. People think “it’s too embarrassing to be seen buying an enema, or to go to the ER and need a manual disimpaction. I’ll just wait this one out” and then the bowel perforates and that can kill you in no time at all. And a LOT of it is just because of the meaningless stigma surrounding something as universal and basic as.. peeing and pooping?? That’s insane! Most everyone does it! Get over yourself and stop perpetuating shame!! Knowing someone has to wear a diaper will not kill you, but the embarrassment that person feels might just kill them!!

#people need to get more italian nonna about health now #i am forever grateful to have been raised in a family where a digestion health update was a valid response to 'how are you?'#the more you talk about something the less shame is attached to it which opens so many pathways!#you become more aware of your own body bc you're not mentally shunning whole entire parts of yourself!#none of us are free unless all of us are free stays being the most important tenet #confronting ableism and the underlying mechanics of it is so important for disabled people at the knife-edge of the fallout of it #but it also means that everyone disabled and abled alike benefit from being less alienated from our own bodies and the care our bodies need

God it’s so fucking funny that the copyright trial scene exists in the book. Literally the one scene where Grace isn’t present or narrating and it’s entirely so Stratt can have a “fuck you I’m doing what I need to save the goddamn world” moment. Andy Weir straight up broke his entire framing device solely so he could give Stratt this moment.
