its funny to me how warmups for instruments generally sound nice and pretty. like just basic scales or chords. the exercises i do on my guitar could be mistaken for actual music at times.
and then vocal warmups are shit like. bark like a seal. grunt like a thwomp from mario 64. now sing the melody but instead of the lyrics youre saying 'moo moo mee mee mah mah' even the scales you gotta moo mee mah through that shit and its just so goofy every time. and this is why im not a singer
Ok so here is a Grace headcanon I’ve been cooking for a while…
I think we can all agree on the baseline of Grace having an uncomfortable relationship to sex. One could take the ace road, 100% see that. I also propose this road:
Grace who is really uncomfortable with being perceived as a sexual being. Especially as a generally-considered-attractive man: colleagues giggling and whispering when he enters the teachers lounge, or people approaching him at parties (when he went to those at college), people circling him in the after-hours at symposiums. It’s a weight he feels, a weight of expectations and peoples wishes projected on him, and he feels cornered.
He also feels cornered in his masculinity: he’s learned all his life that Real Men are always thinking about sex, wanting sex, on the lookout for it even. “Men are dogs”, would say his uncle jokingly and his mother derisively and this fragment lodged into his brain so deeply that every time he actually psyches himself up to fuck someone he, in his mind, stands by himself, a second distant observer, and only sees a mindless humping animal and that kills his libido like a sniper shot. It’s how he thinks everyone sees him. But, oh no, Real Men shouldn’t struggle with keeping it up and satisfying their partner! What now?
Grace is like ok what do Good Guys do. I can be a Good Guy. They still have sex but they do stuff like finger and eat their girlfriends out. Yes, of course, if I keep my girlfriend (literally) at an arm's distance then all is well! So he just delves into it like the proper scholar he is and treats it like a discipline to be learned. He simply needs to be the best at giving head and then she’ll be all gooey and satisfied and if he’s lucky she will forget his dick exists. And if you continue to be emotionally unavailable at some point the girlfriend will decide sex is just not enough and dump you. Phew, crisis averted.
So he deflates when the budding friendship turns out to be flirtation and he also beats himself up for being disappointed. He desperately craves touch and comfort but the gamble is often not worth it. Eventually he learns to navigate this minefield by simply retreating socially and only keeping old strong friendships around that are safe. Can’t be approached at a dinner if you don’t go to one in the first place. Messy stubble, grandpa cardigan, goofy teacher persona. Don’t look, don’t look at me.
And then, in the longest shot possible, he meets an alien. He meets an alien that is utterly fascinated and disturbed by him and the relief of realisation hits him like a semi-truck. Rocky has nary a frame of reference for what humans consider attractive or what men should be like or even what aliens should be like. By default, Grace is a weird sweaty mammal to him, no matter what he does or doesn’t do. This alien’s idea of sexuality often boils down to placing a small, hot claw on Grace’s throat and feeling for the vibrations of his vocal cords on his palm. Grace can just talk, or hum, especially if he has just woken up and his voice is deep and gravely from sleep, and Rocky goes insane. He equally loves pressing his open claw on the inside of Grace’s thigh and listening for that big femoral artery and the whoosh-whoosh of blood and the beat of his heart (okay that kinda does something for Grace, too).
So that gives him space to re-evaluate how he feels about being sexual. He’s always liked bringing pleasure to people and making them happy and gooey and relaxed. It is fun to turn Mary’s speakers on and play dubstep until Rocky is steaming and tossing a half-formed piece of xenonite at him. It’s fun being a tease if he chooses to be. Rocky was willing to see their partner 6 years late, after almost half a century of delay already, so Grace could live. Rocky chose him as a friend first and foremost and somehow, bizarrely, them fooling around in the most unconventional ways doesn’t put a damper on that for Grace. It’s fun, it’s science, it is the boredom killer, it is a stress-reliever. He doesn’t have to be anything or prove anything and for the first time he can breathe.
For years now, Google has been tweaking its search formula to prop up AI and bury actual links. Now it’s rounding into its final form—and ch
This summer, researchers at internet provider Cloudflare reported that “automated bot traffic has eclipsed human activity on the Internet, now generating roughly 57% of all web requests. This milestone emphasizes a seismic evolution from an Internet built for human clicks to a digital landscape now dominated by AI agents.” It’s no surprise, then, that anyone who relied on search engine inbound traffic is taking a hit. We are well and truly in the predicted “Google Zero” era.
It’s also no surprise that these new numbers are altering the long-established calculus about whether outlets want to submit themselves to Google Search. Currently, Google’s offering is all-or-nothing: If you want to show up in search results, you’re also agreeing to let the company feed your content into the maw of its Gemini AI apparatus. And an increasing number of people and properties aren’t particularly interested in that arrangement.

Last month, after AdWeek’s Mark Stenberg reported on some of the fed-up companies that were considering withdrawing their content from Google’s indexes, he received a number of social media comments from some mom-and-pop shops of the internet. The people behind a recipe blog called Inspired Taste referred to Google’s business model as a “hostage situation,” adding: “As you already know, what Google is doing to recipes is shameful.” Another webmaster piped up to say that “we have discussed blocking Google completely so we can protect our copyrighted content from AI scraping theft. The Google traffic is so small anyway because they have nuked our website”—My Sex Toy Guide dot com, in case you’re wondering!—“from their search results.” On September 15, Cloudflare will change its settings to block Google crawlers by default.
controversial opinion maybe but i can totally see pre-canon movie grace being crossfitpilled. makes him part of a community and gives him something to brag about. at least until he has a change of heart/something happens that prompts him to quit (slipped disc lmao) and he ghosts all of his crossfit friends because they keep asking when hes gonna be back on his feet and hey man its already been two weeks where u at didnt think u were a quitter lol and he suddenly realizes how annoying everybody is and oh god hes one of Those people isnt he. and then he looks back at that time of his life with painful amounts of cringe. the end.
every time i think to myself 'oh don't worry about it you can pick it up on the way that shit is everywhere' i end up getting bodied by whateverthefuck situation is going on these days
A lot of people are ragging on the 'cable diverted to avoid Dobby's grave after Harry Potter fans raise a stink' thing and while I also love ragging on Harry Potter fans being weird, in this case it looks like the story was completely made up.
tl;dr: There's no evidence the interview that this was mentioned in even exists, no evidence the route of the cable has ever changed, and the whole story seems to originate from one dude's podcast.
The story also broke into mainstream via the Daily Mail, who are ... rarely if ever honest or accurate.
everyone saying "don't worry he's a puppet so he is real!" no guys you don't understand. I wrote "real ✅️" with the thought of "oh yeah rocky, the pentagonally symmetrical alien rock crab spider, who is a real living being and exists actually for real" in my head.
Capitalism needs unemployment to function. it's not a mistake.
unemployment drives labor prices down through competition, and lets Capitalists set the price as the buyer of labor. when someone is guaranteed to die, you will do anything for it to not be you.
this one part of is how capitalism ruins people, and exploits labor for profit.
The way the boss stops you from asking for more money is to threaten you implicitly or explicitly with firing you. If there were full employment, people could ask whatever pay they want — there'd be no one to replace them.
Publications like The Wall Street Journal and Financial Times openly worry when the unemployment rate goes too low because wages go up; profit and stock values go down. Capitalism must have an army of unemployed workers in order to exist.
What do you have when you have an army of unemployed workers? You have an army of unemployed workers who want to eat.
And humans are not going to let themselves just starve. So they get involved. In illegal business."
"You're leaving out assault. Murder—"
"All business, legal and illegal, uses violence to regulate itself.
