WTNV Fictober Challenge
Day 7: Stretch those boundaries a little; write something that you find difficult to write. You don’t have to publish it if you don’t want to, but take a moment to feel proud of what you’ve written.
[So this is hard for me to write since I am, primarily, a romance/smut writer. This fic has neither, sad day.]
Cecil jumped at the sound of his alarm clock. He silenced it quickly and groaned. He closed his heavy eyelids, hoping for just five more minutes of sleep.
Before he knew it, someone was shaking him awake.
“Cecil! What the hell, man, your show goes on in 10 minutes,” said a female voice.
Cecil sat up, startled, covering his bare chest.
“Intern Hyacinth! Why are you in my bedroom? What do you mean my show is in 10 minutes, its only 5 o clock?”
In answer, she shoved his alarm clock towards him. It read 7:50.
Forgoing modesty for urgency, he leapt from bed and began dressing in whatever was lying around. He buttoned his shirt on the way out the door, trusting the intern to let herself out.
He opted to drive the three blocks to work, and Cecil was already backing his car into the road before he had closed the door. He parked haphazardly once he reached the studio, left his keys in the car, and ran inside.
He stood in the doorway, panting, and suddenly confused. There was nobody else in the building. He looked behind him and saw an empty parking lot, except for his own vehicle.
He furrowed his brow and went into the studio. He checked the restroom, and the break room, and under desks.
Upon inspection of Intern Hyacinth’s desk, he found the answer to his problems on her desk calendar.
“April 1st,” it read.
