… what is this Renaissance where people didn’t need to work for a living? Not only artists but even scientists like Galileo were working according to what rich people would pay them for - ie, according to fashion. Some things don’t change!
hold it there cowboy yes there were artists like michaelangelo, raphael, and the other two teenage mutant ninja turtles who did the king's demands, but i'm pretty sure artists mostly created things according to their own agenda. regarding the renaissance, here's a quick history lesson for ya:
"the italian renaissance" often suggests a delineation from most historical time periods. it convinces us to gloss over economical-social developments, natural science, political and religious situations. it is mostly recognized by scholars of literature and marginally by art historians.
what is important is this moment in time led to the protestant reformation as well as a scientific revolution. the bubonic plague in italy also took place around this time; artists (amongst others) prioritized providing for their current lives more than what transpired after death. honestly, it's all thanks to the Medici family's power over Florence that artists were even acknowledged as an important group to european culture that deserved renown and wealth
griffin, what are your feelings on mink? (your new theme is 10/10!)
I had to give this a bit of time to answer, however I actually liked Mink as a character. I'll agree that he is one of the most- if not the most problematic boyfriend in the game. Although he is not the only boyfriend that hurts Aoba, the amount to which he abuses him leaves a bigger impact- especially since rape is one of the most terrifying things that can happen to a person. A lot of people who play through Mink's route do not complete it. Mink's intentions are not fully understood in the original DMMD, but in his reconnect route, all questions are answered.
It is realized, through playing his good route, how far one would go to exact revenge and die. It is important to also realize that Mink did those things so that he would be able to die without looking back. And for Mink to finally have 'death' removed from his consciousness, he was able to live for another reason. I think there is a reason why his good route is longest. Mink's character development is amazing. And although, like most others, I do not appreciate the things he's done, I am satisfied with the reasoning behind his actions. I understand why he did the things he did. And I am not going to hesitate to say that I like him. He is a wonderful character and a character that deserves just as much attention as the others receive. Also, he has the best eyes.
I'm confused why do 'blackisbeautiful’ urls upset you?
It upsets me because social standards have conditioned us to a color-association that is actually very problematic
Dr Martin Luther King, Jr has spoken about this
‘White’ is associated with purity, cleanliness, and beauty
‘Black’ is associated with darkness, evil, dirt, and ugliness
Now, I’m not saying that we need people to reassure poc that black indeed is beautiful, because they fucking know that already, and they really don’t need our(white people) help after all that we’ve taken from them
out of interest what opinion of Caitlin Moran's do you disagree with!
(That ! was supposed to be a ?)
she promotes a non-intersectional feminism which is probably the most disturbing form of ‘feminism’ ever
lack of public accountability, self-awareness and denial of privilege
carefree use of the word ‘tranny’ in her How to Be a Woman book
she also states in her book that women should be able to flirt to the top for more power, which is casual misogyny and objectification at its finest
