Yeah Yeah Yeahs still remain one of the truest and most authentic New York acts of the decade. They embrace the intensity of the city as they do its sounds and its grit, and how fitting for them to be the first band in history to perform on top of the Empire State Building for their latest video for Despair.

Directed by Patrick Daughters, who also helmed the band’s beguiling video for Maps, the video follows Karen O, Nick Zinner, and Brian Chase each making their way to the historic building in the night, as Karen O’s isolated and striking voice croons over their every step.

And then, they sing and play and dash and dance until sunrise, cheerful, lively, and shimmering in every way.
