finally managed to fill out my new year‘s plans 😅
The past few days!
Our neighbors brought us homemade food on New Year’s Eve and it was delicious! We usually share Christmas cookies or Halloween treats or whatever seasonal thing we cook and have lots of, so this was a really nice surprise!
Then trombone practice and my annual Year Compass booklet! It’s a free download and this is my fourth year doing it after I think I first saw it on Reddit? I love me a good freebie, and I love me a symbolic new start or built-in time to pause and reflect on the life I’m living, so I’m a big fan of Year Compass and doing a little intentional reflecting and planning at New Year’s.
Ken had been sanding down our patio chairs to refinish them so I “helped” (complained) and then went inside to see Theo being an absolute cutie pie! We had tacos last night - great first meal of 2021 - and finished watching The Mandalorian.
Happy happy happy! And this morning we went to Dunkin’ (unfortunately the sugarplum macchiato is no longer available, bummer!) and got sugary coffee drinks and I got the beyond sausage breakfast sandwich and now I’m just feeling really happy and ready to enjoy today.

That time of the year again. New journal freed from its plastic wrappings. Time to close out 2024 and set some aspirations for 2025.

Found this is a useful tool to leave 2023 behind and prepare for 2024, hope it might come in handy for some of ye too…

Someone on Twitter was talking about this and I saved the link here on Tumblr to check out later, and now that I have I'm sharing it for anyone else who might want to check it out!
It's a new year's debrief/look forward kind of tool - I only did the first part, because even that took about an hour, and it was questions to help you look back on the previous year, focus on what you liked about the year and what had the most impact on you
Always the best time of the year to look back with gratitude, look ahead with hope, and look beyond with eternal perspective...

End of the year coming up and if you're a writer/thinker who enjoys summing your life up in piles of notebooks full of nonsense and silent reflections then I definitely recommend throwing an eye on https://yearcompass.com
I'm currently going through it for the second year in a row and it's actually really nice way of closing out a year and starting a new one. Sure some of the questions might be a bit too big or repetitive, but it gives you a very nice space to reflect on all of the things big and small that happened to you and because of you.
Also a reason to remove the plastic from yet another notebook in your collection.
Planning and planing. I am so determined to have a better year and that requires effort, planning is the first step.
