being the first overall draft pick and being told ‘you 🫵 will save our failing franchise’ is kinda like if you gave an 18 year old free reign over a million dollar company and said ‘fix it’

Just going to quickly say this tonight because I'm seeing some people crash out for no reason:

Getting a #2 pick is a gift. Genuinely, I promise you.

We want the Sharks to be the best possible team, and what's more badass than having two of the most stacked lines in the NHL?

Toronto will almost certainly take McKenna, and we will probably take Stenberg. Y'all, Ivar Stenberg is incredible. He's smart and crafty and really fun to watch. He's pretty good defensively too and he can score.

Celebrini & Smith aren't going anywhere. They're staying on the first line, most likely with Chenyshov. Their chemistry is undeniable & they're producing well. Cheryshov was that missing piece they needed, a power forward who can keep some of the pressure off them so they can do their thing.

Stenberg is a winger who would slot in beautifully with Misa & Eklund's line. Yes, I know this moves Toffoli to the 3rd line, but that's ok! They would work up to this, and Toff would be available to step in when needed.

And if we pass on Stenberg, that just means we take Chase Reid, the consensus top defensive player in this draft. He's a right-handed D (perfect for us) who is committed to Michigan State. He'll develop for 1-2 years & then come help us out (probably paired with Dickinson eventually).

We will get immediate help on defense through trading, no matter what. This is why Mike Grier is more focused on picking the best available player in the draft. The Sharks have a LOT of cap space and lots of juicy prospects to attract the many other teams trying to rebuild right now.

So take a breath, because this is all outstanding. I promise.
