So i bought this Monstera Deliciosa online, when it came to me the soil was absolutely drenched, like, soaked through so much it had puddles, every bit of soil was completely saturated with water and then some. But i was new to Monstera, heard it liked to be wet and although i was apprehensive and doubtful, i thought maybe it was okay
Slowly over about a week or 2 this plant started turning black, and nothing i could do could get the soil to dry and i had no soil on me, like, even all this time later the soil was thoroughly soaked. So i messaged the company and said, hey I'm not sure but i think this is over watered, could you let me know if it is or not and how to save it, just to let you know i haven't watered it since getting it and it arrived like this
They told me to throw it away and sent me a free replacement, which i appreciated greatly, but that isn't what i wanted, what i wanted was this plant. So i did something i had never done before, i did surgery on the plant, this plant originally had about 6-8 leaves or so with no fenestrations, i could only save 2, thankfully 1 was the biggest leaf, i then moved it into a new pot with new soil and hoped for the best
For 3 months this plant did nothing, i still cared for it as it wasn't turning black any more, the leaves weren't curling, it showed no sign it was dying, but it also didn't show any sign of growing. Then one day i noticed a new leaf coming out of it! Everyone, friends included, told me to throw away this plant, but i knew there was hope!
Exactly 1 year to the day later, here is that very same Monstera Deliciosa. Look at this! This is a whole plant, it has fenestrations! Everyone told me to throw this thing away, that it quite literally was dead in the water. But i knew there was hope! This is why i never give up on plants! It doesn't always work but when it does, man! I also now own 2 Monstera Deliciosa when i only bought 1 haha
