Presenting you with a fic idea I have:

Manon, who grew up with divorced parents, used to be very indifferent about marriage. She LOVES romance but cannot imagine being legally bound to another human.

But when she and Sophia got together, she now yearns for the idea of spending the rest of her life with Sophia.

So much that it causes her anxiety. Something like: “Fuck! I love/need/want this person so much that I’m terrified of messing everything up and we will break up and I was right about marriage all along. True love doesn’t exist dammit!”

She doesn’t tell Sophia this ofc. But Sophia understands how different their upbringing was so she quietly made peace with the fact that they might not get married. Even though she knew she wanted to marry Manon from their second date.

Sophia then gets an invitation to a family member’s wedding and offers to bring Manon as her plus one. And ofc when you bring your partner of 3+ years to wedding you cannot escape THE question.
