A (anglocentric) Top Surgery Timeline
1) Get on T. With a GIC this could take a year from your first appointment - privately you could be prescribed at your first appointment. If you know you'll never want T then this doesn't apply to you - but in general it's preferred that you don't get T after top surgery
2) After 6 months on T you're elligible for top surgery. If you go private you can get a referral signature pretty much as soon as you're 6 months on T - and for Miles Berry at least, one signature is enough! If you're going private, then you're on the waiting list at this point! Unfortunately if you're going with the NHS, considering waiting times it's usually a year from getting on T to discussing top surgery. You need two appointments for top surgery with the NHS as well - so add another year. Your referral will be sent off in around two years.
3) The waiting list. This varies HUGELY surgeon to surgeon. Miles Berry got me in for a consultation in a few weeks - but with Yelland and Kneeshaw it's often several months.
4) Consultation - as I've said it varies depending on surgeon how early you get this! I've also done a whole post on what happens at this stage - check it out!
5) Waiting for surgery. This is also hugely varied. Miles Berry can get you in under a month from consult - Kneeshaw and Yelland it can be a lot longer.
6) Surgery! You've jumped through all the hoops and waited ages - it's time for top surgery! I've done so many posts on preparing for it so if you don't follow me/are new to my blog please check them out!
General Timeframes, from T to Surgery:
