Scene: It’s 5am in June. You wake up to your phone buzzing. It’s your best friend: “Let’s get pancakes. I’ll be there in 30 minutes.” You groan, but you stumble out of bed, put your hair up in a terribly messy bun, throw some grey sweatpants and very big hoodie on and some slides. You brush your teeth and stumble down your driveway half asleep, blanket wrapped around you with toothpaste in the corner of your mouth. It’s brisk and there’s a bit of wind but the sky is turning pink and it’s beautiful. The world is still asleep. It’s just you and your best friend, smiling, still half asleep, driving down the highway free as birds watching the sunrise be painted across the horizon in front of you. This is bliss.
