Alright everybody, buckle up! This theory has been rotating in my mind for nearly eight months, and this post has been stuck in my drafts for over a month. Now, I can finally release it 😭
While Yingdu was still airing, the idea that “Xia Fei is key” was already on my mind. But back then, I didn’t have any strong evidence to support this. I was relying on 50% visual metaphors which left too much room for other interpretations, and the other 50% on gut feeling. And with majority of the fandom convinced that Xia Fei is “disposable”—a victim, a pawn, a walking dead flag—voicing my opposing views on him might appear delusional. A part of me had also considered that my insistence on Xia Fei’s importance is just me hoping he won’t die in season 3.
However, as Link Click releases more promotional materials for season 3, my Xia Fei is Green theory has thankfully held on and my wish for a green and gold outfit for him to match has also been fulfilled through his portrayal in the Map of Dreams album. I am now feeling more confident about Xia Fei being the key to everything.
But what really sealed the deal for me is this frame at the end of the PAIN MV:
The position of their hands makes it look like Xia Fei is throwing literal yellow keys to Liu Xiao.
All this time, I’ve been saying “Xia Fei is key” in a metaphorical way, but then Link Click just shoves actual physical keys into my face, eliminating all doubt and ambiguity. You cannot begin to understand how vindicated I’ve been feeling since the Pain MV dropped.
Yellow is Key. Xia Fei holds the Key. Xia Fei is Key.
Before I elaborate on this idea, let me just introduce some context to those new here:
This post is part of a series of posts called Traffic Light Theory, where I analyze the significance of colors and directions beginning from the Yingdu Chapter. You don’t have to read all the previous posts in the series to understand this one, especially since my past interpretations are in need of an update. However, I do require you to at least read the Introduction, VeiFei: Blood and Fire, and Red and Green; Up and Down (and its sequel, Left is Up; Right is Down). Otherwise, what I’ll talk about here will make little sense to you.
Now, this idea has been brewing in my mind for so long that organizing my thoughts on it is difficult. Let me just start from the very beginning—
At first, I was just using the word “key” to refer to the thing that is “the most important.” I thought of Xia Fei as the key puzzle piece that, if put on the right spot, would complete the picture in Lick Click that is currently full of blank spots.
He’s just so full of mysteries.
Xia Fei and Fire
He is not revealed to have any abilities, nor was he documented as a survivor even though he was at the abilities-school Bahati—which was burned down.
His song lyrics are heavily associated with fire.
And he also has this particular frame in Burning Palace that looks like an eye with flames for the iris:
The lore drop from the PAIN MV also includes this info on Xia Fei:
A great fire consumed his memories. He has no kin, no place to return to.
And a staff member who worked on Xia Fei’s script even said this:
Natural diamonds may dazzle, but what truly endures is wild grass, which no fire can extinguish.
Xia Fei is somehow very much associated with fire. And fire is an important element in Link Click.
For one, although the title of Liu Xiao’s song with the Li Twins is officially translated as Prometheus (written as 普罗米修斯 in cn), in Chinese, the song’s title is explicitly written as 盗火者, meaning “fire thief.” So, there is a clear emphasis on the fire here.
Two, fire has been used many times to depict a character’s death, such as Li Tianxi’s fall and Cheng Xiaoshi’s eyes going out like a flame:
The meaning of Fire in this show warrants its own long meta, but I’m going to summarize it here as simply: Fire is Power. Specifically, their eye abilities. And going by the Prometheus myth, Fire originally belongs to the gods. Those who are able to awaken their own abilities are thus akin to gods in Link Click, unlike those who had to take it from someone else.
Given all the fire imagery surrounding Xia Fei, he becomes even more strongly associated with the god metaphor (and also the dead flags… but let’s not talk about that).
Xia Fei is Green and Yellow
He may have been Blue and Yellow throughout Yingdu, but his MOD album portrayal and all his official art since then have been Green and Yellow. I reckon those will be his s3 colors too.
If you’ve read my previous posts, then you’d understand the significance of Green in Link Click. But TLDR to those who haven’t: Green is the color associated with the Down direction, which, in Chinese, is associated with the Future.
As for what Yellow means—
Cheng Xiaoshi’s eye power is yellow, and it’s what allows him (and Lu Guang) to dive back in time and affect the timeline. Shao Yuanyuan also shares that power.
Cheng Xiaoshi’s MOD art also shows him winning through a Yellow mahjong tile:
All the other tiles in this image are Green, but he won because of the sole Yellow tile. CXS’s reaction to winning also suggest that he won out of sheer dumb luck.
Yellow as Opportunity? Luck?
I thought long and hard about what Yellow could represent in the visual language of Link Click, and finally I’ve settled on Light. Yellow should be the Light that’s captured in a photograph—the key element for a photo to develop.
Without Yellow/Light, nothing happens; there is no photography.
Throwback to this title card in Xia Fei’s Rent a Shell PV:
The text are colored Red (Past) and Green (Future). It looks fine as the Yellow light passes it, but at the brief moment the light is withdrawn, the text cracks.
This leads us to the next most important point...
Xia Fei and his Image
As a model, Xia Fei is naturally in a lot of photos, but Link Click goes beyond photographs to highlight how important his image is:
Like photos, a reflection also requires Light. But unlike photos, which can only ever show an image of the past, a reflection is a live image of the present.
In the Pain MV, Xia Fei’s reflection is highlighted even more through the use of mirrors:

Furthermore, in this AU, Xia Fei is a vampire, which is commonly depicted as having no reflection. His profile here also says that he cannot see himself in the mirror. All these stand contrary to what’s in canon, bringing more attention to his reflection.
This frame in YE3 also stands out:
While being the most Yellow in that raincoat of his, Xia Fei faces a poster that reads “Secure your Future today!” while a Red (Past) bus passes behind him. Note also how the top part of the poster is Blue and Xia Fei’s eyes are right over the word ‘Future.’ Blue + Yellow = Green (Future).
Xia Fei, as Light/Yellow, is indeed “securing his future” in this frame. He’s turning the Blue Present into the Green Future, through his Yellow, while he stands at the intersection between the Red Past and the Blue+Yellow (Green) Future.
And this won’t be the only time he does this (more on this later).
Xia Fei and Videos
Videos are essentially just multiple photos played one after another fast enough, which is why ShiGuang can still use security camera footage to dive back in time. However, despite this precedence, we’ve never actually seen them use personal videos for a dive. Is it because videos recorded by a person will just result in them diving into the recorder’s body? Then, that would make it no different from just using a photo.
And yet, Xia Fei is specifically portrayed as a vlogger in his MV:
When he went missing in YE6, the news also explicitly stated his identity as influencer, not model.
It’s not subbed, but the term used on the headline at the bottom is 网红—literally meaning “net red,” and it’s the Chinese equivalent of “influencer.”
Is him being a model in multiple photographs not enough to make him a live target for ShiGuang’s diving shenanigans? Why add another layer of videos to that?
The emphasis on Xia Fei’s reflection, coupled with his identity as a vlogger, all suggest that there is some significance to Xia Fei’s live image. Or in other words, just Xia Fei himself as a person.
Although I don’t think Link Click is going for this parallel, I can’t help but think of The Truman Show in regard to this point. Like Truman, being in front of the camera is Xia Fei’s whole thing. When the first Yingdu trailer dropped, a big part of the beginning was even Xia Fei just doing different poses in front of the camera.
If Xia Fei is the “protagonist” in this “show,” then any changes involving him would drastically alter the story.
As such, any minute changes on the past would reflect heavily on him.
Xia Fei and Timeline Discrepancies
Timeline discrepancies are not unique to Xia Fei, but on him it shows up in a grand scale even when he is so far removed from the source.
Take the billboard above, for example. (Although a part of me thinks the billboard change was simply because Link Click wanted to retcon some stuff, let’s just roll with it since it’s included in canon.)
Now, a professional billboard photo isn’t something you take on a whim and can just take down whenever. It’s something that has to be discussed by a whole team, and once installed, is seen by millions of people. It’s no surprise that Lu Guang was so shocked when the billboard photo was changed. That’s a Big thing.
In S1, the changes around Emma can be attributed to ShiGuang who were messing around with her photo. In YE2, ShiGuang’s conversation being interrupted by a notification of Xiang’s arrest can be traced back to Liu Xiao’s manipulation behind the scenes. In both scenarios, the agent of change (person with abilities) has purposefully interacted with the victim of the effects.
But what about Xia Fei’s billboard above? Why was it changed? If he’s the victim of the effects, then who is the corresponding agent of change responsible for it? The billboard photo being the one changed, of all things, also suggests that an ability user is messing around with Xia Fei’s photoshoot—but the point of which, I honestly can’t see.
So, instead of there being someone in the past who tried to mess with Xia Fei specifically, it’s more like any minute changes wherever in the world would just show up on him in the next timeline.
Another timeline discrepancy surrounding Xia Fei is this scene in YE3:
CXS, LG, and XF were supposed to escape from the Right, but it was changed in this timeline. They went to the Left instead, where a Yellow lamp stands at the intersection. (Light/Yellow is once again at the Intersection)
Lu Guang didn’t try to change anything here, and I doubt Liu Xiao would try to manipulate them into a dead-end when the three of them are of more use to him alive. The one responsible for the changes here should be Shao Yuanyuan. Li Haoling has also confirmed in an interview with Hui Xiao Hui that key timeline changes were caused by her.
But then again, SYY’s target for the changes should not be Xia Fei (and especially not her son and his friend who were both with him). It was more likely Vein, who was called to the scene by Xia Fei. Vein’s disappearance from wherever he was before must be beneficial to SYY in some way. Xia Fei, and by extension ShiGuang, were just affected by the changes on Vein.
If small changes on the timeline unrelated to Xia Fei already reflect on him in a Big way, then how much more the big changes on the things that are more closely related to him?
Because of Vein’s “death,” Xia Fei disappears years later and ends up on the global news. His disappearance then becomes the catalyst of the events in s3:

Xia Fei always comes in two’s or caught between two things:
His hair has been duo-toned since birth
He’s ambidextrous
Cheng Xiaoshi says he looks like a mixed-race man
Both red and green traffic lights in the ED are on while his ad plays in the background

He's the second survivor in a fire that was said to have only one survivor
And now this:
This is from the Pain MV. Note how the elevator buttons are at his Right while the door is closing to the Left*, and how XF is holding a Red apple Up while the camera angle is from Above.
Remember, in Left is Up; Right is Down, we have established that:
Past = Left/Behind = Up
Future = Right/Ahead = Down
Elevator #1 is thus an elevator to leading to the Past.
*the Past is considered “past” from the POV of those in the Future
Then, look at this:
Elevator #2 is a mirror image of Elevator #1. Buttons on the Right, door closes to the Left*.
And Xia Fei stands in the middle of these two elevators, with his Green cape draping Down while the camera angle is Below.
Elevator #2 is an elevator that leads to the Future.
*Those in the Past head towards a Future
More importantly, regardless of how far or near this XF art is from the viewer, he is always aligned with the Light in the Middle.
Yellow. Light. Intersection.
Interestingly, the caption on Wang Qing’s Yingdu poster says this:
枪口指向的她，是过去与未来的交界点

Summary
Yellow is Light. It stands at the intersection of the Past and Future and is the Key element needed to develop a photo/video—a permanent record of an event. Without Light, there is no Past or Future, and time shatters like a mirror.
Xia Fei is that Light.
Whoever wants to take control of the timeline needs to control the Light. They need to control Xia Fei.
Ok so I'm back on my Eddie and Narcissus/Daffodils soap box!
I was prepared to believe I was maybe clowning a bit with all the Narcissus around Eddie in 5a...
But then having daffodils sat on the table in the Eddie montage in 5x11? Well now i'm convinced i'm not clowning at all because those things are not a co-incidence - thats 3 times in 1 season we've had Eddie and narcissus in the same space!
in 5x05 in the narcissus mirror storyline - apart from 1 moment (when Hen is), Eddie is the only one who we see in shot alone with Lewis - the guy who brought the mirror and injured himself by trapping a nerve in his neck - getting stuck in one position - on the toilet. All the other shots are Lewis alone or have multiple people (Hen and Bobby plus Lewis, or Buck, Hen, Lewis etc.) Eddie is also the only one down on his knees at the same eye level as Lewis - everyone else is standing up and above them both- again drawing a connection between them. Hens explanation to Lewis is also very interesting as well;
'What we have here is an severely pinched nerve in the neck, from over exertion and straining which caused his body to spasm and freeze. (said to Bobby)
Thats why you can't move.(said to Lewis)
But I assure you its all temporary.' (said while the camera is focused on Eddie).
Its as if we're supposed to read that this is actually about Eddie - we watch Him and Hen not being in sync with each other, but its about the idea of getting stuck in one place (hmmm foreshaddowing my beloved - the idea of over exercising and going nowhere - that treadmill is feeling even more relevent!!) - a place you don't want to be when you over exert yourself to please others - narcissism isn't always a bad thing - if you are doing something for yourself such as taking the time to self care and heal from trauma - it will enable you to be there for others. It's saying that others will be there for you - to provide help along the way, but ultimately you'll only be successful if you do it for you and not for others - something Eddie needs to learn!
Then there are the daffodils in Eddies Kitchen;
^^^ In 5x10 - there hanging out on the sideboard - in the centre of the shot while Eddie is talking to Carla about Christophers meltdown.
Then we see them in the middle of the table in 5x11 during breakfast with Christopher in the same yellow and white vase. vvv
Both of these instances have the flowers in the centre of the screen and they draw the eye - because bright yellow and static (theres a reason hazard signs are yellow!)! the other common denominator in all of this is Chris - Eddie talks about changing his job to make Chris happy then we see the reality of Eddie leaving his job for Chris - the flowers tie the two scenes together and while initially Eddie is clearly enjoying his time with Chris, the reality of his new life is that as we watch it unfold - the colour drains out of the kitchen - not drastically, but it fades and looks washed out - in the same way Eddies clothes get darker and the bedroom washes out as well - everything is turning grey.
Also - as an aside - Eddie has actually decorated his barren wasteland of a room - with a picture of cactus in the desert!!! Set team you are not subtle - such a fun metaphor for Eddie - he is literally a cactus in the desert at this moment in time - stuck with little to no sustenance and outwardly prickly!!
Eddie has never been surrounded by soooo much background yellow as in s5 - the lighting especially is very loud!!
I mean in 5x11 alone - Eddie was surrounded by yellow - the yellow of the fruit and orange juice, the yellow daffodils and then all the very yellow background lighting through the windows.
Sooooo much yellow - all in scenes that important communication is taking place and one of the reasons I'm convinced that talk between Eddie and Josh is going to come back up later - that yellow lighting is very loud! then we have yellow lighting in the kitchen when Eddie and Chris finally talk (not enough but its a start - Eddie needs to break before we'll get more!) and then yellow glass behind bobby and a yellow folder in Eddies hand when he tries to head back to the 118 - all important moments that set the course for Eddie to reach his breaking point!!
Eddie and the colour Yellow has become my nemesis. My sleep paralysis daemon. The thing that consumes all my brain power and this particular thing has got me obsessing and distracted me from the post on Christopher I was supposed to be writing as well as one on Eddie and Athena! (man do I need to stop staring at screenshots!!)
I know I mentioned it before (I think it was in my 5x10 costume meta) that I found it odd that there were daffodils in the vase in the kitchen considering its supposed to be December and they’re a spring flower, they’re so out of place in a Christmas episode that it has to be deliberate. Well my ADHD brain will not let it go and it’s taken me on a wild journey which will probably just be an incoherent jumble of ramblings, but I’m putting it out there anyway!
Here they are - hanging out in the background of this scene between Eddie and Carla (I know this is a terrible still of Eddie but I’m more interested in the daffodils in this picture!) and they are right in the centre of the screen, Eddie might be the one in focus, but those little yellow flowers in their little yellow vase are so out of place in terms of the episode colours etc that they pull the viewers eye. I know I’ve been banging on about yellow being a colour of communication ad infinitum and I’m going to continue that trend, because - hello - yellow lurking in the background of Eddie communicating stuff in 5x10 again - thats twice in 1 episode it cannot be coincidence!
Brenna is so deliberate in all she does that this has to be intentional especially as yellow has been such a heavy colour theme around Eddie in both the episodes she’s directed this season - Home and away was such a yellow heavy episode! So we have a jaunty little yellow vase filled with a yellow spring flower, when they could’ve had literally any yellow flower - roses, geraniums, carnations there are so many options - if they wanted yellow specifically - in a Christmas episode where everything is red and green (and dark blue!) and christmassy.
Daffodils are also known by their latin name - Narcissus - now where have we heard that before this series??!!
Narcissus in Greek mythology was a hunter who was known for being attractive, but rejected all romantic advances until he fell in love with his own reflection which he saw in a pool of water and spent the remainder of his life staring at it - giving birth to the term narcissistic. After his death a flower sprung from the earth next to the pool where he had stared at his reflection and it is this flower which bears his name.
I can’t help but see parallels with Eddie because Eddie’s story is very much about him learning to love himself and that it’s okay for him to do so!
I’m not suggesting Eddie is narcissistic in the way that is usually attributed to the term (self centred), but in a kind of staring at his reflection kind of way - because he sees himself in others, (whether consciously or unconsciously) but it’s also important to remember that reflections aren’t always true or whole representations of ones self - I’m going to explain this terribly, but bear with me!
Eddie sees Shannon leaving him and Chris as a reflection on him and as a reflection on what he did “I left first, only I got to pretend it was for a noble reason.”(said when theres a load of yellow coloured lighting behind him!)I also think he sees the failings in their relationship as all being on him and him being selfish (I think thats what he views keeping her from Christopher as being) Eddie sees his parents wanting to take Chris away from him as a reflection on him and his capabilities as a parent but he also sees what they’re way of raising children did to him (hello repression - even if he’s not yet admitting it) and knows that it would stifle Christopher and we know Eddie doesn’t want Chris to end up like him - he’s said so.
But the reality is, that as Chris is growing up and understanding more of the world and his father we are seeing Chris reflect Eddie. We are seeing Eddie inadvertently make the mistakes of his parents, just in a different way because the damage they’ve done is not easily undone by Eddie alone. We see Christopher keeping his thoughts and feelings hidden and not talking about them until they explode out of him (because he hasn’t had as much practice at repressing like Eddie has and he’s entering puberty!) we see him reflecting the good parts of Eddie as well, but Eddie perhaps doesn’t yet recognise this.
For me, I also think Eddie subconsciously sees himself reflected in Buck - in that he sees someone who had a less than ideal childhood, but who has found his way, built a family for himself but also has self destructive tendencies (which manifest in a different way). I think he consciously sees himself in Buck as well - in that he sees how much Buck loves Christopher and would do anything for him - exactly like he would and does - hence the will change and his decision to leave the 118 (whether thats a good or correct decision is a different conversation but it is born from a place of love and wanting the best for his son), but the subconscious/ unrecognised similarities are the ones that are the more impactful in the long term because those similarities are the ones that have built the foundation for this epic love story.
basically my theory is this
Yellow = communication in 911. Eddie is not known for communicating (in the typical sense of the word) and up until the shooting, we hadn’t really seen him around yellow very much - Shannon was the exception because she was wearing yellow around him super frequently but it is her trying to communicate with him/ get him to communicate, but wasn’t ever able to succeed because her methods weren’t the right ones and actually made Eddie double down.
I find it super interesting that Buck has since picked up the wearing yellow in relation to Eddie, a colour he didn’t wear before. The first time we see Buck in yellow is 3x06 Monsters - after he and Eddie have hugged and made up at the firehouse 👀 and he wears it frequently after this. Where Buck and Shannon differ is that Buck is actually having some success on the communication front - in both directions - I mean they’re both traumatised and repressed so its limited at the moment, but Buck is coming from a different place than Shannon - he gets Eddie like no one ever has and thats why he’s starting to and we’ve started seeing Eddie around yellow things more!
Narcissus = self centred thinking - Shannon (and others) think Eddie does things without consulting anyone else “Eddie always knows whats best for everyone” etc etc. I’ve also always found his speech to Buck about what it means to be part of a team somewhat amusing, because Eddie also doesn’t really understand (yet) what it means to be part of a team - he thinks he does, but the reality is that he only knows what it means when its set within a rigid set of perimeters - such as in the army or the fire service - where there are rules and regulations.
Eddie talking to Carla in 5x10, seeking her advice and communicating what he hasn’t communicated before - he kept the hostage situation a secret etc - is an interesting part of this because he’s talking to someone/ seeking advice from someone he can ultimately ignore (she might be a friend by this point, but he still pays her and that creates an interesting dynamic because he can justify to himself why he doesn’t actually have to listen to what she’s saying while claiming he is - repression at play big time!) In this conversation Carla points out how important Eddies job is to him but we don’t get to hear what her response is to Eddies comeback ‘but is it more important than my kid feeling safe when he closes his eyes at night?’ its a continuation of ‘make sure you follow your own heart, not Christophers’ - where Eddie doesn’t truly listen to what Carla has said.
Back to the daffodils. They could’ve chosen any flower if it was just about yellow but they went for daffs which are the flowers that herald the coming of spring and spring is the season considered the beginning - representing new life, growth etc and they’re also perennial - they’ll keep coming back year upon year and grow stronger as they do. such a lovely metaphor for Eddie and him coming back brighter and stronger.
So if we add this to the yellow communication theory and think about the fact that later on in the episode we see Eddie doing something (leaving the 118) which he claims is for his son’s mental health, but is in fact for his own mental health and he’s hiding behind Chris (again), while standing in front of massive yellowness I feel like all of it is pointing to Eddie thinking what he’s doing is for the betterment of others (Chris) when in fact what he’s doing is selfish - and it needs to be because its the only way he can grow - and come back a better stronger version of himself.
I’m pretty sure the yellowness that Eddie is standing in front of is a forsythia (I’ve been scouring google for images from the motel!!) this is cool because Forsythia is also known as the Easter tree and is commonly used to symbolise hope and renewal and the coming of spring (all the same things as those daffodils!!) I would also like to mention (although it doesn’t really bear any relevance or importance!) that the suede jacket Eddie is wearing is olive green and forsythia is a member of the olive family - just a little fun fact!
Its the fact that Eddie is not wearing yellow - the yellow is around him, but never on him and I can’t help but feel that if Eddie was leaving the 118 because it was truly best for Christopher, we’d see that st. Christopher necklace clearly on display - like we did in the will scene™. The fact that we don’t for me means its really about Eddie - he needs to be selfish at this point so that he can heal, the reality is he’s using Christopher as his excuse. The use of these yellow spring flowers herald coming of spring (which is when the show comes back...) and the beginning of his unrepression (arc).
And then we have Buck who is so desperate to communicate and talk to Eddie - he’s in yellow so often only around or in relation to Eddie (or Chimney when he knows about Maddies whereabouts!) - but because he’s been unable to he’s fallen further behind Eddie now on his own trauma journey - (hence the tiny patterns we’re seeing him wear) because life has thrown up some massive roadblocks for him and he’s doubling down in the wrong places to try and deal with it all.
This season is the season of hearts - it’s a season about healing hearts, giving hearts, having faith in the heart. The heart of it all has been discussed far more eloquently than I can ever hope to manage, but if we combine these hearts with the yellow, it becomes about communication from the heart and about the heart- what does the heart want and need? because this is also becoming a season about communication, or not communicating;
Eddie hasn’t communicated since he cut that yellow line in 3x15 and it’s really interesting that it was all tied in to his begins story - because it’s like he tried to cut the string that tied all that trauma to him - to escape from it only he failed and it piled down on him like a mountain of collapsing earth - (ahhh the metaphors!!) and Eddie might have managed to crawl/swim his way out then, but the trauma keeps coming - all this external communication keeps popping up - hence the increasing amount of yellow everywhere we’re seeing everywhere except on Eddie (who isn’t actively communicating) - all these things that tie back to that trauma that he cut the line to - and if you try to cut the trauma away it’s like the hydra - you cut off one head only to find it comes back with more heads and causes more problems which is exactly what is happening - there are all these things and people trying to communicate with Eddie but he keeps trying to cut them off - so more appear until he’s unable to keep shutting them out.
It makes bucks line being burnt an interesting link at this point because he wants to communicate, but his line was cut / not by his hand or choice - it’s like the perfect metaphor for where he is - he wants to talk about everything and deal with the shared trauma (they are at the other end of each other’s lines in both instances remember) but he doesn’t have any say in the matter - he doesn’t think it’s his choice to make because Eddie severed ties first and by his own choice, by actively cutting that yellow rope whereas Eddie tied buck off and gave him the line - but the fire caught it and took away bucks autonomy in the situation.
🤡🤡🤡Just going to put my clown make up on for a second (who am I kidding I never take it off!) because my mentioning Hydra sent me off on a classics spiral!
The labours of Hercules is an interesting story and actually has a fair few similarities with 911 now I’ve started thinking about it! Hydra is second labour of Hercules in Greek myth and it is Athena who provides Hercules with advice on how to defeat the hydra. The only way to stop hydra is through fire - cauterising the neck stumps after decapitation so they cannot regrow enabling Hercules (with the help of his nephew Iolaus) to then cut off the one immortal head using a golden (more yellow!) sword given to him by Athena.
Interesting don’t you think! Makes me wonder if Athena and Eddie are going to end up having a chat at some point in 5b with Athena providing a metaphorical golden sword! (And if that actually happens I think I might actually spontaneously combust because I’ve somehow gotten here from a vase of daffodils!!)
Wow this became a rambly mess and I have zero idea if this is even coherent enough to make sense - I’m not sure how I ended up here from the starting point of a vase of daffodils in Eddie’s kitchen at the wrong time of year ( ooh another metaphor just occurred to me about those damn daffodils - it’s the wrong time of year for new growth so he’s going to struggle for a bit) but there you go - I might need locking up!!!

It was so amazing - I love it when a theory continues to come to fruition. And the way Athena communicated - a combination of physical and verbal - just brilliant to see from her. Angela was amazing in this episode and she looked so good in that shade of yellow!
