"Mouse, mouse. come in. Mouse"
I jumped realizing that I had been lost in thought as I quickly blinked. Look down at the radio. Crap!! Wesker had been trying to get a hold of me!
Panicked, I grabbed the radio microphone and quickly responded, "Apologies, Captain. Mouse here. I must have drifted off for a moment. No signs of unusual activity to report at the moment."
Wesker's voice came through the radio, calm but tinged with concern. "We need you alert, Mouse. We don't know what we're dealing with out there."
"Yes sir- I understand, sir." I assured him, my voice nervous with my momentary lapse in focus. I couldn't afford to let my guard down, I couldn't let my guard down with my uncle still here somewhere. I knew he wasn't going to leave anytime soon. The rain started to pour, creating a rhythmic pattern against the car's roof. The sound seemed to heighten my senses, sharpening my focus in the face of the eerie quiet that enveloped the city. Wesker went quiet for a moment before responding with a sigh.
"Redfield I requesting for you to come back so that your not alone." Wesker said. I hesitated for a moment, torn between the desire for companionship and my need to prove my capabilities as a member of S.T.A.R.S. The rain continued to pour, the droplets beating against the car's roof in a steady rhythm. I glanced out at the darkened streets, shadows shifting and lurking, reminding me of the dangers that awaited. I know that it would probably be for the best if I took Redfield's offer. I took a deep breath, weighing my options. As much as I wanted to prove myself capable, I couldn't ignore the concerns Wesker had expressed. The night was already taking on a sinister tone, and having backup would provide an extra layer of security. And it was Chris. So hopefully not so much doom and gloom. "Understood, Captain," I replied, my voice a little calmer this time. "I'll head back to the station and rendezvous with Redfield. It's better to be safe than sorry." Wesker's voice crackled through the radio, his approval evident. "Good call, Mouse. Redfield will meet you at the designated location. Stay sharp."
With the decision made, I turned the car around and headed back to the police station. The rain beat against the windshield, obscuring the streets with its relentless downpour. I couldn't help but think about Wesker's concern, and a small smile played at the corners of my lips. Perhaps it wasn't just a concern for my safety, but something more. As I parked the car in front of the station, I saw Chris Redfield waiting near the entrance. He acknowledged me with a nod as I stepped out of the vehicle, the rain soaking through my clothes. "Mouse! I heard you needed backup," Chris said, his voice calm and steady with a lighthearted smile. I rolled my eyes and smiled at him. "Pretty sure the Captain said that you asked for this?" Chris blinked before that shit-eating grin came back on him. "Ohohoh? Is that what he said?" He quickly got to the car with a then grin on his face. I raised an eyebrow as I slowly got in the passenger side.
"What's got you so smug, Redfield?" I teased, trying to hide the growing smile on my face.
"Oh, just enjoying the chance to tag along with you, Mouse," he replied with a wink. "And the fact thaaatt- Wesker asked me to do this" I turned my head as he pulled out of the gouge. "Wesker asked you to do this? But he told me-"
"But he told you what?" Chris asked, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he kept his gaze on the road.
I crossed my arms. "He told me that you were concerned for my safety and thought it would be best if I had some backup. He didn't mention anything about him telling you to do this."
Chris chuckled, his grip tightening on the steering wheel. "Well, let's just say I may have given him a little nudge in that direction. I was trying to get him to be the one to go with you, but the Chief came storming in and pulled him away."
My eyes widened in surprise as Chris's words sank in. Wesker hadn't mentioned anything about Chief Irons interrupting his plans. I couldn't help but feel a mix of confusion and amusement at the thought of Chris orchestrating all of this. He really was full of surprises.
"You... nudge him?" I asked, a hint of skepticism in my voice.
Chris grinned, focusing on the road. "Well, yeah. I couldn't let you go out there alone. And besides, I know about what happened at the hospital."
"At the hospital?"
He smirk.
"Right, you don't know. He probably woke up before you and moved back."
"... What? Chris, what are you talking about?"
I said as I stared over at Chris as we drove in our night petrol. "I-I was only in the hospital for overnight? Did something happen?" Chris had a large smirk on his face.
"Well, I can't check in on you. In the morning. The Captain had fallen asleep next to you holding your hand."
I rolled my eyes as I slowly stopped at a stop light. "Yeah, right "
Chris smiled and nodded before holding up a Polaroid of Wesker asleep next to me. Holding my hand, and his glasses off of his face. I blushed brightly as my eyes widened.
"W-When- how-!?"
“This? This is nothing!” Chris laughed as he drank some of his coffee. I find the situation very funny. The smile on his face was infectious yet he stopped smiling as he looked at me. I didn't know whether to glare at him or throw his drink out of the car. "You’re in love with the Captain…" My eyes widened as I didn’t know what to say or think. The blush on my face growing darker wasn't helping at all. My heart was beginning I could hear it in my ears. "I-I'm not!"
Chris smirked. "Sure ~ but you always have a blush on your face when he’s around. You always make excuses to go down to his office with whatever document you think he needs to have. You love his hair, his piercing eyes, and his deep voice-" He said with a smirk before a cut him off. "What about you and Jill huh!?" I said, calling him out on his own crush on Jill. Chris was stunned for a moment - but only for a moment. It was Chris after all. He quickly took a moment to compose himself and had that same infectious smile back on his face when he looked back at me and replied “Don’t try to change the subject. We’re talking about your obvious feelings towards the Captain. The same way I have feelings for Jill, I can’t deny it.” He smirked and looked back at the road as I drove the car through the rain. “But my feelings for Jill are irrelevant compared to you and the Captain.”
"There are no feelings for the Captain."
Chris rolled his eyes playfully. "Yeah, and the Captain wasn't the one who ordered me to go with you on the night petrol to make sure you would be okay. I think he wanted to be the one to go with you."
I rolled my eyes and shook my head as I stared out the windshield through the rain. "Sure..."
Chris chuckled away as he saw the blush on my face only getting redder.
"I think the Captain is interested. I’ve seen him checking you out too."
Chris laughed as he had a hand over his mouth - clearly trying to hide how amused he was at my flustered state as I flipped him off as the rain grew harder. “You should take this chance and ask the Captain out on a date when- the R.P.D charity ball! You can ask him to go with you-" My eyes grew wide as I quickly slammed on the bricks a bit. Fuck- I forgot that was still happening in a week. "Absolutely not." Chris giggled as he saw I was trying my hardest to stay mad. He could see right through my facade. He was going to enjoy this. “I won’t take no for an answer, missy!” Chris laughed heartily as he could tell how red my face was getting. “What’s the matter, Don’t wanna go to the ball with the Captain just the two of you?” Chris was playing along with my bluffing. He was having too much fun with this.
"It won't be just us. And while we're on it why didn't you ask Jill!" "I already did that." My eyes widen as my head whips over to him. "What!? When!" Chris smirked at my confusion as he quickly looked over "A couple of weeks ago. She said yes " Chris smirked and he turned back to glance at the rain. "Now, about you asking the captain to the dance~" I blushed brightly. "Not doing it" He was enjoying this and smirked as he stared at me from the passenger seat. "Hey, do you mind if we go past the R.P.D station? I need to grab my jacket real quick." He took this opportunity so he could go inside and tell the Captain something He had a sneaky plan in mind. I raised an eyebrow at him. "Yeah, our petrol is almost done." I said as he smirked."Thanks, Mouse!"
Chris seemed delighted that I was okay with driving past the station. He had a sneaking suspicion that Mouse would be alright with it. The thought of her being alone with the Captain, or rather getting closer to him, made Chris smirk. Once the car pulled up near the station, Chris told me he just needed to go inside to grab his jacket. I said that was fine, and told him that I was going to go park the car. I drove last the from of the R.P.D over to the was and parked the car. Pulling out my keys and stepping out of it. I locked the door before making my way inside the building. "I didn't know who to bring it up to. Just say the station and figured I would be it up here before going to drop off my kid." The voice was more of like a fancy New York accent. The man was in an expensive black suit and a black hat. A smaller man was standing next to him. Who was also in a fancy suit and hat? The taller one was carrying a sleeping girl on his back. I realized those two. My father had them work under him, along with the other two who weren't here. They were talking to Mister Larson at the front desk. Something must have happened for them to be here.
"Droog? Deuce?"
The two men turn their heads over to my voice.
"Whaa'! Little Okhotnik!! But that can't be! You were barely taller than me when we last met!"
"Tha' was years ago Deuce."
The taller one- Droog said as the sleepy girl on his back mumbled a bit in her sleep. Mister Larson blinked as he looked over at me.
"You know these men Miss?"
I smiled and nodded. "They worked for my father when I was younger," I said before looking at the girl on Droog's shoulder. "Never knew you settled down Droog."
Droog shook his head as Deuce smiled. "It's so nice to see you!! You had all of us worried after that night! Even Slick was worried!"
The small man said as Droog turned to face me fully. "We kind of all do! It's a weird story but- it happens!"
Deuce said with a big smile. I... raised an eyebrow but just slowly nodded. "Rriight... But what are you guys doing here? It's far away from your home town"
"We're meetin' up with the other two for a job."
Droog said as Mister Larson smiled and gave us some space. Droog reached into his suit and pulled out a file. "But- this is somethin' for you." I raised an eyebrow and slowly grabbed the file. It.... Had my father's name on it in Russian. "It was what he assigned us to retrieve before the fire happened."
"Yeah! He also asked us to do him a favor!"
Deuce said as he pulled out some wires out of his pockets. Droog.... Glares at him and he slowly puts the wires back into his pockets. Deuce was the... Boom expert so... Probably a good thing to not have him mess with those inside the R.P.D.
"What did he ask you guys to do?"
"Mainly to keep an eye on you. And to keep you away from your Uncle."
"Y... Yeah, about that. I kind of already ran into him. Said something about me not being able to trust my own Captain. You guys know anything about that?"
Deuce shrugged as Droog shook his head. "No clue. We've just stopped by to report somethin' before hearin' the guy says your name."
"Yeah! We were so happy to hear that you were alive. We tried finding you before the building went down but.. All we found were your parents."
My eyes widen slightly. "My mom and dad... Are they-"
"Both shot in the head."
Droog said as Deuce looked down at the floor sadly. I stared at with with a sad look in my eyes then looked at the ground as we'll. "Then my hunch was right. I know who did it."
The two stayed silent before Deuce spook up. "Want me to rough him up! I can give him the one-two! And deal him a senseless shin-drubbing with my crook of felony-"
Deuce went on and on as I slowly leaned over to Droog. "He still doesn't have that... Cane does he? The bull...."
Droog sighed heavily as he pinched the bridge of his nose. That's all the reply I needed. "Got it..." Droog looked over at Deuce before Druce realized both of us were not responding to him. Droog reached into his pocket and handed me a card with the group's numbers on it. And two red diamonds on it like a playing card.
"We'll be in town for a bit. Call if you need anythin'."
I smiled as I thought of him before giving them both a hug. Droog grew extremely stuffed as a board while Deuce smiled and warmly hugged me back.
I watched them both leave before I started up the stairs to going into the West Wing. Chris said that he was only going to be gone for a few minutes and when he returned, a grin etched its way across his face.
"You're going to the ball with the Captain!" He said the lights in the building flickered due to the storm. I stared at him in horror.
". . . . What?"
Chris laughed. As I stared at him horrified.
"I asked the Captain since you didn't want."
"Aww, don't be like that Mouse! How could you not like Captain Wesker? He's handsome, tall and very dashing in that uniform!"
I rolled my eyes as we walked. "Admit it. You'd like to hold his hand in a storm, as he kisses the rain from your face."
Chris just smiled as we both entered the empty S.T.A.R.S office.
"It's true, you're definitely attracted to the Captain."
He looked at me as I walked to my desk and smirked.
"That's why you're blushing. If you liked him, you'd probably flirt with him."
He laughed.
"It's kind of cute, Mouse."
I rolled my eyes as I grabbed my things. Not giving him a response.
Chris was still watching me from the other side of the room with a smirk on his face. I had either a pissed-off look or the ' I'm going to punch you look.'
"The truth is hard to hide." He said as he leaned on his desk a bit as I grabbed my notebook and a few other things off of mine.
He was going to continue this till the end of our shift, till we walked out the door to go home.
"So, did you drive here today?"
Chris asked as I froze for just a moment before I started to put my raincoat on. "Yeah... Sure...."
He blinked before his eyes widened slightly. "Didn't he just scold you about this a few-"
"I'm fine! I'm a big girl who can walk home by myself!"
The rain and storm outside got worse as you two were the last two in the S.T.A.R.S. So the thunder echoed around the room. We could hear the rain hitting the roof of the building. Chris came over to my desk after he finished getting ready. He placed one hand on my desk and leaned on it, and the other over his eyes pretending to look out a window.
"Hm. Yup! That's a storm!"
I glared at him as I zipped up my coat. "Thanks, Captain Obvious. Anything else I didn't know?"
He held his hand up in defense. "You're right. You're a big girl and can walk home by yourself. I just wanna help keep you safe after what happened with your uncle Mouse." He said as I glanced up at him before looking away. He's right, it was him and Wesker who were cut off from me during the missing. They both saw me injected with something. He had a right to be worried as well. I closed my eyes and let out a sigh. "No, your right... Sorry. I wasn't thinking."
Chris was starting to say it was no problem, but he had that look on his face that said I was being too hard on myself. I placed my bag over my shoulder as he walked up to me.
"Hey, don't worry about it. I understand. He said as I glanced up at him.
The thunder rumbled through the building again. "Man.. This may be the worst one yet." Chris said as he walked over to the door. Stepping out into the hallway to glanced out the window.
"Hey, Mouse! Come check this out!" Chris yelled as I set my bag back down and walked over past the S.T.A.R.S office door to see what he was looking at. The taping of the rain grew heavier as the seconds went by. The rain was coming down so heavily you could only see the lights of the cars passing by and that was mainly it.
"I wish I would have asked Wesker to drive me home in their weather," I mumbled as I crossed my arms over my chest. Chris had a fake hurt expression on his face. "Mouse! You don't trust me to drive you home! I'm a good driver?" My thumb pointed to the window.
"You? Driving in that ok? Yeah right." "I was a pilot you know! I have flown in worse!" "Wish is why I will be driving Mouse home Redfield. And not you."
A cold voice came behind us as we both jumped. "C-Captain-" I studdered.
Wesker was standing behind us with a cold look. Like we had just interrupted something important. He glanced over at Chris and then at me before speaking in a cold and stern voice.
"Why are you looking at that window? it's not gonna stop the storm."
I brushed slightly as Chriss still had his smile on his face. "Captain. Remember when you told Mouse that you wanted her to drive her car here to work every day?"
My eyes widened as my head snapped over to Chris with a smirk on his face. Giving him a 'Don't you dare' look.
Wesker would stay still for a moment to think as the rain fell harder than before
"Fine. I will drive you home this one time Mouse. Tomorrow you will be receiving a punishment for displaying orders. And you will drive yourself to work."
He stared right at me without blinking. His glasses hide any movements of his eyes
"Redfield, I will need to speak with you about something very important before we leave."
He said as he turned and walked back into the office. "Yes sir." Chris said before glancing over to me as he called in after Wesker. Leaving me alone in the hallway.
Thankfully I wasn't left waiting til long. Both Chris and Wemse came out of the office soon. Chris smiled as he handed me my things. "Here you go Mouse." "Thanks." I said as I reached out and took my things from him. Glancing over at Wekse truth a light blush in my face. "Ready to go sir..." Chris smirked. "Have fun driving Mouse back home sir!" He said with a chuckle as he walked away from the two of us.
Wesker would notice the blush but wouldn’t comment on it. He would just stay quiet to himself.
Wesker would give Chris a cold glare as his face remained straight and still hiding his intentions and emotions as he watched Chris walk away. Wesker’s voice would remain stern and cold.
"Come now, we need to hurry the rain is getting worse we can talk on the way." He said as he would walk with me over to the main hall. I nodded as I tried to keep up with him over to the main hallway.
"If you don't mind sir... What are you still doing here." He didn't turn his head to look at me as I asked. He simply moved his hand behind his back as we walked.
"I had a meeting with the Cheif."
"This late?"
Mister Larson did say something about the chief setting meetings at unreasonable times. As we walled, the halls that were normally full of commotion were silent. "This is getting old Mouse." He would say in a stern voice but without any anger as it sounded a lot more like care than anything else. I glanced down to the ground. "Sorry sir..."
He said nothing as he gazes stayed ahead if us. "How have you been feeling? What happened in petrol tonight."
"It went fine sir."
He would pause and stop walking for a moment as he heard my response. He would keep looking forward with his stern and cold face and glasses, still hiding his eyes as he spoke.
"Now I need to talk to you about something."
He would then start walking again. "Um- yes sir?" I asked as we made our way to the front doors of the RPD. "What Is it?"
Wesker would walk a little further before stopping and turning around to face Me. His face was still cold and not showing any signs of emotion.
"My words on what I'm about to say to you is that this stays between us, Mouse."
He would then take off his black sunglasses revealing his ice blue eyes filled with a cold and stern look in his eyes a stare not of kindness. Wesker’s voice would remain stern and cold.
"We need to have a talk about who your partners are for tonight."
"Tonight?"
I asked confused as I looked up at him. "I can take care of myself sir. If this is about how my Uncle attacked me I-"
No that’s not why I want to talk about that.
*Wesker’s voice would remain stern and cold as he glanced over at me. The rain starting to fall harder.
"It’s about who you got for your assignment tonight."
His eyes are cold and it would seem that his words are not meant to come out as rude. But they still do sound that way a little.
"I’ll be your partner for your assignment tomorrow."
Wesker’s voice would now sound stern and cold but just a tad bit more friendly and soft. Wesker would turn around without waiting for me to respond.
"The rains getting worse. We should go before we're stuck here."
He would start to walk again his glasses still hiding his eyes.
My eyes widened as I quickly went after him as he made his way to his personal car. "But- Sir- I'm meant to be pared up with Berry tomorrow? Why would you want to take over for him?' I yelled as the rain almost drowned out my voice.
"I know mouse."
He would continue walking to a black SUV that looked like a police car. The rain dripped off of his sunglasses.
"That was my plan originally to have Berry be your partner."
He moved to unlock the door and open the passenger side of the car.
"Hurry and get in the rain is getting worse as we speak."
I nodded my head as I carefully got into the car. Wesker walked around the car as the rain poured down harder and harder and the thunder and lightning flashed more and more. He would climb into the driver's seat, close the door, and look over at me.
"Get your seatbelt on, now."
I nodded as I pulled the seatbelt over myself. Looking back over at him. "I didn't expect it to come down this bad..."
"Neither did I. I didn’t even think we would get more rain today."
He would turn the key in the ignition making the car start as he turned back to face forward.
"We need to hurry to get out of here.'
He would then put the car into drive as it slowly started moving and the rain continued pouring.
"It wouldn’t be the first time that has happened so I am fine with that."
They would both remain silent for a moment as Wesker would just watch the road not saying anything.
"Mouse may I ask you something?"
"Is there something going on with Chris that you know about?"
Wesker’s voice would remain stern and cold. My eyes widen as a blush grew on my face. He would look right over at me for a moment as if waiting for my answer.
I looked confused. "No sir?"
"Really nothing at all?"
Wesker’s voice would remain stern and cold. He looked right at me as he spoke.
"... Captain sir.. Are you jealous?"
"Jealous?"
Wesker’s voice would drop a little in pitch for a moment as he spoke.
"Jealous of what exactly?"
He would look right at me as he spoke and asked.
"... Of Chris... He... Did say that you fell asleep on me at the hospital."
Wesker’s eyes would remain cold and stern. I felt a shiver running down my back as I looked away from him. The rain grew louder as he slowly drove to my house. At this rate, some of the streets will be flooded till the morning. "No, I would never be jealous of him." He seemed to be thinking of something now as he stared out into the windshield of the car. He took a moment before speaking again.
"Chris has some bad qualities. He’s always had an issue with being late."
He then took a moment to turn his head back to me still staring right at myself.
"He’s also very immature sometimes."
He would say these things in a blunt manner.
"... Sir. You sound... Jealous."
"I am not Jealous."
His face would become even more stern as he spoke in a more serious and calm tone. He then turned his head back to drive the car again.
"There is nothing that I am jealous of him for." "No... Not jealous of him... jealous that he spent the night petrol with me instead of you..."
"Really mouse?"
Wesker’s voice seemed a little surprised and he stopped driving for a moment as he looked over at me. He was not mad or angry at me though his voice did seem a tad bit surprised. He then started to speak again but this time his voice seemed a little softer and more curious
"Jealous? Of spending time with you?"
He would continue to drive as he spoke still staring right at me.
"I mean, you were going to spend the petrol with me and then the chief came in."
It seemed he was beginning to see where I were heading with this.
"Well... Chris spend it with me instead of you."
Wesker stayed silent for a moment as he thought about what I was trying to say.
"You think I wanted to spend some time with you?"
Wesker’s voice would stay curious still wondering what I was trying to get at with all of this. I blushed and looked away. "N-no sir..."
"No, I see now."
He would be quiet again as he would look at the road and as his eyes scanned the surroundings.
"Are you perhaps blushing right now?"
He would turn his entire head towards me as it almost seemed he was trying to see if I was really blushing. My whole body froze as I quickly looked away. "N-no sir..."
"Are you sure Mouse? Your voice sounded just a bit high-pitched for a moment." His expression stayed curious and his eyes looked right over at me, almost as if he was trying to check if I was really blushing or not. I faced fully away from him and looked away from him. "Are you certain you are not blushing right now?." Wesker would still sound curious as I keep looking away from him. "Yes sir..."
The rain was getting worse the streets started to get flooded a little. He turned into the road leading to my apartment building.
"Mouse, I do believe you blushing. You seemed to answer back rather quickly."
"N-no, I just answered your question sir."
Wesker’s voice would get a little more curious and soft in a caring way. I glared at him from the corner of my eye before he pulled into a parking spot. The either was getting worse as the winds grew. There was no way I could let him drive back to his home in the either. This storm was getting worse. He stayed silent as he turned off the car and pulled the keys out. Wesker then got out of the car and got his umbrella out from the back of the car in order to stay dry and not completely wet as he walked towards the passenger side of the car. He opened the door as I slowly stepped out. He held it above our heads as he started to make his way to my apartment's front door. The rain dropped hard on all the buildings and the wind started to get faster. I glanced around as the rain fell down on us before looking up at Wesker.
"I stand corrected."
He then saw a sign near the elevator that said maintenance service down due to damage caused by the storm as he let out another sigh. I looked over at what he was looking at and read the sign. "I suppose you are correct." He said as I turned my head to look back at him. Water dropped off of the pieces of his hair that fell in front of his face. "The storm is getting worse, I hope you don’t mind if I take refuge in your apartment. He then looks back at the entrance door and looks at me. I blushed as I tried my best to not think about the fact that the Captain was about to spend the night in my apartment." A serious expression appears on his face. "Not a word of this to anyone."
He said as he turned and walked over to the stairs. "Y-yes sir-" I said quickly as I rushed after him. Climbing up the stairs with him. The thunder rumbled through the building as the light shined on us for a brief moment as we walked. We got to the second floor as we made our way to my door. Wesker would look back at me as I opened the apartment door and let him inside. Wesker took his shoes off and put his umbrella against the wall. He moved the fallen bits of hair
"Mouse, do you have a fresh set of clothes for me to change into? I don't want to be soaking wet while in your apartment." "Y-yeah. I have some larger clo..." I slowly paused as I saw him roll back his solders, letting his wet coat roll off of him. Reveling his blue shirt wet underneath it. Clinging to his skin he took a deep breath in. Setting his wet coat over a chair. All around him the shirt tightly cling to his skin. "I'll- go get you the clothing." I mumbled quickly as I rushed through the living room and over to my bedroom, quickly shutting the door behind me. As he waited for the dry clothing, his phone started to ring. He answers it after he takes out his phone glaring slightly at it before he answers it. "Hello." His voice sounds a bit annoyed.
"Albert, where are you? You never came back to the lab?" Willaim's voice came through the phone.
Wesker would stand up and walk over to the couch and look around the apartment as he heard William asking for him. He wasn't able to get a good look at what was around here the last time he was here.
"I am at Mouse's apartment. I have to spend the night here thanks to the storm."
Wesker heard the sound of papers rustling in the background of the phone.
"I know, I had to leave to make sure Sherry got home safely earlier. I never made it back to the lab."
William said as Wesker started to look at the photos in frames Mouse had on the wall.
"But- you're at the one who's immune to the Brass gas? You seem to be getting awfully close to her."
William teased softly as Wesker let out a small huff in annoyance.
"What did the blood samples tell you." Wesker asked William.
William sighs softly."Nothing yet. I was able to find a gene that is present in both the t and the Golgatha virus strains in her. I have yet to find a proper conclusion, however."
Wesker picked up an old photo with Mouse as a young child. Sitting in her mother's lap as her father stood next to her. Wesker took his glasses off as he stared at the man in the photo.
"But- I did find something odd." William began.
"Her DNA matches a woman by the name of Salko Olena Okhotnik. It's clear that someone tried to hide it. But her is almost the exact same as hers. Too much for a mother-daughter DNA."
"William, did you ever hear of a doctor known as Docter Rolf Buchtel."
"Rolf Buchtel? The name sounds familiar. He was the man that made the Pesimis Disease right?"
"Yes."
Wesker said as he slowly set the photo back down on the end table.
"He was a doctor that lived in Russia that Umbrella tried to hire. But he refused each time, rumor had it that his mansion was burned down to the ground. Along with his notes and research."
"Where are you going with this Albert?"
William asked.
"I believe he did have a wife and child did he not?" Wesker said as he glanced over to Mouse's door.
"Yes, he had a wife and child, I believe the wife passed away when the child was young though. Are you suggesting that we're supposed to believe that this Docter Rolf Buchtel, whom Umbrella tried to hire and failed. Had a child who has the exact same DNA as her mother? But with no direct link to either mother or father?"
Wesker took a few steps around the room. "It could have been an affair, but that wouldn't explain the odd similarities to DNA between the supposed mother and the daughter." William went on.
"You said in her gene there are presents of both the t and the Golgatha virus strains in her." Wesker asked.
"Yes, you heard that correctly."
William pauses briefly, thinking about how that could even be possible. "This case is getting crazier by the minute." William mumbled.
"Are there any other virus strains present in her." Wesker said as he unbuttoned a few of the buttons on his wet shirt. "No, none that I have detected."
William pauses as he thought.
"It appears as if her entire genetic code has been heavily manipulated, I am amazed that she is even alive."
William pauses again "What am I saying she is alive with no negative side effects. This could be the key to advancing our research."
Wesker pauses, glancing over to Mouse's door, which was shut. This was curious, Wesker could hear faint sounds coming from them.
"I won't be able to find out more till I can get back to my la-"
William's voice was cut off as Wesker could hear him move away from the phone.
"Dad... I-I can't sleep." Wesker could barely hear Sherry's voice coming through the phone. He heard William turn his chair a bit to face his daughter.
"Is the storm keeping you awake Sherry?"
"Yeah.." Her voice could be softly heard.
"Give Daddy a few more minutes and I'll come tuck you in again. Daddy just had to call Uncle Al to make sure he was ok."
"Okay... H-hi Uncle Al."
The smallest smile appeared on Wesker's face as he closed his eyes.
"Hello Sherry, I won't keep you father for long. I'm sure your mother is already upset about him staying up this late."
He could tell that William sent him a small glare through the phone. William sighs softly, still on the phone with Wesker as Sherry looks over at him. "I'll send you what I found out tomorrow Albert." Wesker nods as puts his sunglasses back on his face.
"I assume you already know not to tell a soul about this."
"I know Albert." William huffed.
"Okay... Well, goodnight Uncle Al." He heard Sherry said. William sighed softly "Yes... Goodnight Albert."
"Dad, could you tuck me in like before please?" Sherry asked.
"Of course sweetheart... Good night again, Albert " William said as Wesker nods. "Good night William, Sherry."
He said before he heard William hang up the phone.
"Sorry to keep you waiting sir!"
I said as I quickly brought him a fresh change of clothing.
"Thank you, Mouse."
Wesker said as he took the clothing from my hands.
"Y-you can change in the bathroom sir."
I mumbled as I stepped aside so Wesker could walk past me. He nodded as I took one last glance at the wet shirt sticking to him.
I blushed nervously as he stopped just in front of the bathroom door. Wesker chuckles softly. "I promise I’ll close the door as I change so you don’t have to worry about being embarrassed." He said as he opened the bathroom door.
"I'll only be a moment or a couple of minutes so I can change out of my soaking wet clothes. As well as drying myself off." I blushed as I nodded my head as he entered the bathroom.
Wesker entered the bathroom and started to change into the clothes. He dried himself using the bathroom towel to get rid of all the excess water on him and he then finally stepped out of the bathroom wearing his fresh black clothes. He put his black sunglasses back on, but his hair was still wet and dripping a little bit as he turned the handle of the bathroom door he looked over at me.
Wesker looked at Mouse "Yu don't happen to have a hair dryer in your apartment do you Mouse?" I nervously smiled as I nodded my head. "Yeah, but it broke a few days ago... Sorry sir."
Wesker waved his hand. "It's fine Mouse. I'll let it air dry." He said as he moved the few stubborn bangs back in place. "Sorry sir..."
He shook his head "It's fine Mouse. I understand." After he was done moving his bangs back into place he looked around for the second time. He turned to face me as he took his sunglasses off.
"You know. I have been wondering. Why was the nickname Mouse given to you? Is there a story about how you got the nickname?" He glanced down at me as he sat down on the couch. "It's what my old teammates would call me. I was the shortest in the group and could sneak into places easily, hence the nickname Mouse."
Wesker nodded his head "Ah that makes sense. Very creative and your old teammates huh" Wesker took his time to think about his next question. He decided to change the topic to her old teammates. He wanted to know more about them. Even though from the Umbrella report, he knew what happened to them.
"So who were these teammates who came up with the nickname Mouse for you? If you don't mind my asking."
I took my jacket off as I went to hang it out for another chair like Wesker had done. "I was assigned to a team tasked with dealing with the situation that happened overseas. There were 7 of us." I said before I let out a yawn. I grabbed some pillows and blankets for Wesker to use. "Would you like to use my b-bed or the couch?"
"The couch is fine, I don't think you're ready for a man in your own bed yet Mouse."
Wesker said with a slight smirk. I could feel my face turn bright red as he took the items from my hands as he stands up.
"Was... Was that a joke sir?'
He hummed as he placed the pillow and blankets down on the couch. Glancing around before walking over to the kitchen/dining room to turn off the living room lights.
"I... Don't believe I ever heard you try to tell a joke before sir..."
"You still haven't Mouse."
He said before turning the lights off.

S.T.A.R.S! Wesker x Fem! Reader
Hello! Yellow here! This would be my first Wesker x reader story I've done! If you would like to see more my ask are open for both NSFW and SFW requests! I did not pre-read this so there may be typos!
I hope you like it! - Yellow 💛🌻
It was late as night and the gentle sound of rain hitting the window echoed around the room. Lightning flashed and reviled for a slim second the two pairs of bodies tangled together in the mattress in the silk sheets. The soft sounds of them breathing in and out could be heard as the smaller physique shifted a bit into the large one wrapped around her. Her lover's hand reacted as if he was wide awake and pulled his lover in close. His hand rested against her lower back. Softly but firmly at the same time.
The rumbling of the thunder and the sound of cars passing by the apartment could be heard lightly but it wasn't something the two of them weren't used to. With them both working at the RPD at S.T.A.R.S. They were used to hearing these things, just add people talking in the background, the beeping noises of computers, and people walking past the S.T.A.R.S office and it would be just as if they were taking a nap at work. Just with expensive silk sheets and a door that could be locked. It seemed to be always rainy at Racoon City, feels like the only sessions were sunny, rain with slight sunshine, rainy, and heavy rain. It made whoever was stuck having night petrol a pain to do. This week it was Chris's turn for it. Meaning that he somehow manage to do something stupid and Wesker made him have night petrol for a solid week straight. Wich normal Chris didn't mind but then he saw that the weather was seat to rain nonstop this whole week.
(Y/N) felt slightly sorry for him but then again he should have known better than to try to pull a prank in the office, even with how small of a prank it was. She remembers him bursting into the office and begging her to let him hide under her desk so that Wesker wouldn't kill him. When she asked him what he did this time. She could hear heavy angry footsteps approaching the S.T.A.R.S office before she let out a sigh and pushed back a bit on her chair and he went crawling under her desk, mear seconds later the door swung open as if they were on a rescue mission to revile a very angry Wesker with his hair a mess. Bits of his lovely blond bangs were out of place and the top part of his outfit was wet. Evidently, Chris was trying to get back on one of the cops with a bucket of water on top of the door. Instead of the cop receiving the bucket of water, Wesker walked in and got completely wet. (Y/N) looked up and her eyes widen slightly as Wesker state.
"C-captan?! What happen sir!"
His head shifted over to look at (Y/N) as she sat at her desk before looking around the room and looking for Redfield. There was no one else there as both he and (Y/N) were always there early to get started on their work. Wesker was normally dragged off by the Chief so I was mainly here till the others started to arrive. After Rebeccah arrived Wesker would normally arrive back at the office again. Looking slightly annoyed after having to deal with the Chief. It was always Cris who was the last one running in one minute before his shift started.
He looked around looking for where Chris could be before he slowly approached (Y/N)'s desk. "(L/N)." He started as he looked down at her, his shades still on covering his blue eyes she rarely saw. She blinked as she looked up at him and gave him a nervous smile.
"A-ah um- yes sir?"
"Where is Redfield."
He said sternly as he stays looking directly into her eyes. (Y/N) jumped slightly as she closed her eyes and gave him a nervous smile.
"U-um- I don-"
"You know I don't like liars (L/N)."
"I-I-"
There was still enough room under the table for Chris to quickly crawl out and ran as fast as he could over to the door of the S.T.A.R.S office. (Y/N) blinked as she turned and watched him run away before nervously turning her head and looking back at her Captain.
"He hid under your desk before you could say anything. to stop him."
"Yes sir."
She said as she looked back over at Wesker who was already heading over to the office door.
"Wesker- don't go too hard on him-"
She quickly asked as he paused and turn slightly to look over at him. It was hard to tell what he was thinking with those shades on but in the end, he said nothing and walked out of the office. He didn't need to run to track down Redfield. And by the time everyone was at their desk he came walking in dragging Redfield in by the cooler and heading straight into his office and closing the door. Jill and Rebecca blinked as they bother turned to (Y/N) asking what happen. She smiled nervously and explain to them what happen this morning. Making Rebeccah get up to go get some herbs and a medkit for Chris. Jill sighed and went back to her paperwork as (Y/N) stared at his office for a moment before going back to her own work.
---
The door to the shaded bedroom softly clicked open and a small hand slowly pushed open the door with a tender creaking echoing around the room. A small head of blond hair peeked around the corner of the door to see the two sleeping bodies before slowly tiptoeing across the hardwood floor over to one of the sides of the bed. The little girl was holding a book way too big for her as she approached one side of the bed. Looking down at the book and up ad the bed she placed the book down and used it to help her claim onto the bed with the two in it.
"Dad… Psss- Dad !"
She whispered quietly as her father faced away from her. She heard her mother mumble softly."
"Isabella… It's 3 in the morning…"
Her mother mumbled as she shifted slightly to rest her head against her lover's chest. Isabella blinked and turned to look back down at her book on the floor.
"But I couldn't sleep and I had a question about my book."
She whispered still as her father slowly came to slightly annoyed being woken up but not fully away to move away from his beautiful (Y/N). Her mother slowly pulled herself away from Albert's warmth and looked at their daughter.
"The one that William gave you for your birthday…"
She hardly got out before she let out a big yawn and rubbed one of her eyes. Albert slowly sat up mumbling under his breath as he reached over and grabbed his sunglasses from his nightstand and put them on out of habit.
"Yeah- Mr. Birkin said to ask dad about it if I had any questions."
Albert would have a talk with William about saying that to Isabella later when he was back at the lab. William had given Isabella a book on viruses for her birthday which Wesker wasn't too happy with, but he doubt that she would actually read it. It was a rather large book and he was;t sure if she would understand what was in it fully. Turns out she did, any time. So much so that she learned a lot and had written something on a piece of paper for her father to look over. She crawled over and grabbed the book and paper before handing them to her father.
"Wouldn't a Mononegavirus with things close to like- like would infect it's host cells by endocyosis or full absorption then a- aggressive injection. Would it be enough for a vampire virus?"
Annnddd with that he was fully up and looking at his daughter blinking a few times before taking the piece of paper she handed him and looking down at it. (Y/N) was also up now staring at their daughter with a confused face.
"Honey… Wha- when did you learn those big words?"
"Last night."
(Y/N) smiled tiredly as she reached out and ruffled Isabella's hair sleepily.
"Sweetheart, is 3 in the morning really the best time to bother your father about this? I'm sure William was only joking about asking him for help about it when he gave you the book love."
"Oh…"
She said sadly as (Y/N) took her hand pack and pulled Isabella into her lap.
"We can ask your father if William and his daughter can come up here again sometime for another play date. And you may ask him about it. How's that sound?"
Isabella looked over at her father as a way of asking him for permission. He nods before folding the piece of paper and setting it on his nightstand along with her book before he took the warm blanket off of him and slowly sat up. His bare feet hit the floor as he walked over and took Isabella from her mother's arm into his. (Y/N) smiled as she watched Albert take the daughter back to her room and put her back into bed before he came back and join her in their own bed for what little sleep they could now get before work started.

"Albert who on earth wrote this?"
Doctor Birkin asked as he turned in his chair holding the unfolded piece of paper and looking up at Wesker. Wesker had his hands in his lab coat pockets as he monitored a test subject for any changes in his appearance.
"These descriptions- this Vampiric virus could work. And I know it wasn't you. I know what your handwriting looks like-"
"Little (L/N) wrote it last night."
Both Wesker and William know who Little (L/N) was the code name for. He blinked before he turned and looked at Wesker fully.
"She- did this?"
"She brought it up to me this morning with some question."
Wesker replied, never taking his eyes off the current test subject. William stared at him for a few moments before leaning back into his office chair. A hand rested against his forehead as he keep rereading what was on the page.
"Well then.. Your little side project is becoming very promising Albert…"
He said as his eye shifted back up to Wesker. Who was staring at the current test subject's transformation from behind the glass before it let out a loud scream. Another one failed, but it didn't upset him. Little (L/N) was moving along right on schedule.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The thunder always keeps me up. Ever since the installment back in Russia. I've never been able to sleep during them. I push aside the old quilts and slowly sat up. My feet hit the wood floors of my apartment. Moving to Racoon City was easy. Getting used to how much rain there was a bit hard but I managed. And now it's been years secs the move and I'm still not used to it. I pushed myself off of my bead and walked over to my dresser and started at the mirror above my dresser. I look up and place a hand on my face. It looked like I haven't gotten sleep in days. Which is true but, no one needed to know that. I moved and walked over to my closet and grabbed my S.T.A.R.S uniform and my coat with the S.T.A.R.S. Logo on the back of it. I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep I know that for sure. I can hear the echo of the monsters from that day in the back of my mind. I was just a little girl when it all happen. Why did it have to happen to my family? I could ask that question a thousand times and l never get a response back. I fixed my coat and pulled the hood over my head as I grab my bag and made my way to the front door. My shoes hit the wooden floor as I walked out. Grabbing my keys and it locked my door behind me. I looked at my watch. It was about 2 in the morning. I would still be able to get into work than start… 5 hours early? I just wouldn't clock in at 2 and don't at 7. With my apartment being a couple of blocks away from work it made walking there a bit easier. I keep my hood up as I entered the rainy streets of Racoon City. The heavy rain hit my hood and the streets. My hands were deep in my costs pocket as I walked through the rain. Cars passed by as they splashed more water on my foot. I stopped walking for a moment as I glared at the person driving by before um clinching my fist and continuing my walk to work. I could always type up Chris's reports and how I was the only one able to read his handwriting. It's something that Chaptan Wesker has been ordering Chris to do but he hasn't done it yet. My fave light up slightly as the thought of the captain came into my mind. No doubt I had a small crush on the man. I mean- who couldn't with a voice like that? Not to mention a figure like his. He was all-around good-looking but he was my captain. And since the rumors about the Cheuf have been going around. A working relationship wouldn't be the best thing for now. Not to my chin that this is bloody Wesker who has never shown an interest in anyone at all. I shook my head to regain my focus and continued walking in the rain. Soon enough I did make it to the RPD. I pulled open the doors and walked into the quiet main entry. The front desk worker looked up from his desk and blinked.
"lady (Y/N)! Your here-" he stop and looked at the time on the front desk computer. "- good lord what are you doing here this early? Don't tell me the Cheif called you in too?"
I smiled at Mister Robert. He was always such a kind soul at the front desk. He always worked long hours and never complained about it. He was the grandfather to all the cops and S.T.A.R.S workers. I stopped walking and pulled down my hood.
"Called in too? Was someone called in this early?"
"Yeah. Captain Wesker. And he was not happy about it."
I walked over to the sign in heat and didn't see his name there. Makes sense, Captain Wesker never sighed in. So often times Mister Robert would have to do it for him. You can tell their different handwriting. Wesley was fancy. Mister Robert looked even fancier. I signed in and looked at him.
"Do you have any reason why?"
"Not a clue my dear. But he was not happy."
I blinked and tend my hard over to the wall on the second floor where the Chief's office was on the other side. I said my goodbye as I made my way up the stairs and took a left to make my way past the bathroom and to the S.T.A.R.S office. With Wekser being here the office should be unlocked. I opened the door and tended on the lights. Walking over to my desk which was by Rebecca's desk and set my bag down. Taking my coat off and setting it over my chair as I walked over to Chris's desk and pulled out the vanilla folder sitting at his desk.1 walked over to my desk and opened it as I started up my computer. After about 40 minutes of struggling to read Chris's handwriting. I printed out the redone reports and set them back on Chris's desk for him. I then stood up and grab some of the unorganized folders and set them out on the floor as I began to sort them out. This was work no one else wanted to do and I might as well get it done now before people started to come in. The room was quiet with the sound of the computers humming and a few random beeping sounds. It was odd not having others in here but also nice. I didn't have to hear more of Chris's bad jokes for the moment. But what did interrupt me was a set of footprints heading in my direction. I could tell t were Weksers, and there were slightly more headers than normal so I assume the meeting with the Chief went badly. I just hope the guy didn't call him " Bert " again. The last time that happen it was a hard day for everyone. I looked up at the door as Wekser forcibly opened the door grumbling under his breath before he stopped in her tracks and stared at me. On. The ground with folders and papers around me. He stared at me, looked down at his watch, then looked back at me without saying a word.
"… (L/N). It's 3:27 in the morning."
"…. I couldn't sleep."
He stared at me as he let out a sigh. Turning his head as he started to walk over to his office as I finished working on the paperwork. I know that he was going to scold me for doing Barry and Jill's work. But it's been unfinished for so long. At least now old mission reports and details would actually be able to be found by someone. A lot easier for mission debriefing as well. I know poor Rebecca was looking for one of the reports but it was never in the right folder. At least now she could actually go find it and finish whatever it was she was working on. I heard him close the door as I continued to work on organizing the miss of papers. From recent mission records to older ones, I could see why no one wanted to do this. It was a lot. I guess there was one good thing that came out of me not being able to sleep. But still, my mind wandered to the captain as my eyes glanced over at his closed office door. I could tell that he was upset. I mean the Chief has been a lot harder on him since he hired me. The Chief wasn't a good guy who didn't really trust anyone from Russia to join the force but Wesker hired me for my sniping skills and my linguist skills. Being able to speak Russian, English, and Spanish did come in handy at times. Like insulting the Chief under my breath when he can't hear me. Or when we're dealing with someone from out of the US. There have been a few rescue missions where Wesker let me do most of the talking and help to calm the victims down. He trusted my translations and my ability to help keep them calm and give them direct orders to help get them out of the current situation. I let my mind wander for a bit before I looked down at the pile of reaming work to organize. I was almost done and started cleaning up the last bit of the folders letting old memories run through my mind. Putting the folders back onto the shelf, I took a step back and smiled at my work. It was no longer a big mess to deal with. Barry and Jill will just have to own me a few favors next time I need something.
B O O M!!
I jumped at the sound of the loud thunder. The rain was only slightly blocked out due to the S.T.A.R.S being an interior office but that under was louder than the ones before. I looked over the S.T.A.R.S office door. I wish the storm would go away soon. This weather was driving me crazy, it made doing the night petrol also harder. Night petrol was often rotated for it to be even. I walked over to my desk again and went to my computer. This rain keep reminding me of that bloody night when I was just a child… I didn't full know what was happening at the time but… If I could go back and change things… Maybe my mother and father would still be alive today…
It was a big place. Lots of people in pretty dresses and outfits were around. I stood by mama holding her hand. Papa was talking to a man with two other men standing by him.
" ████ ███ ██ ███ ███? "
" ███████ ██████ ████ ████████ ████████ "
" ███ ███ █ ██ ████. "
I looked from mama to papa talking to the man in the lab coat.
" ███ ████ ████ ████ ██ ██ ████ ██. "
" ███ ███ ████ ██ ████ ████ ██ ████. "
I frowned as I looked up at mama as she held my hand gently.
" ██ ██ ████ █████ ██ █████ █████. "
" ████ ███ █████ ██ ████. "
Mama said as she leaned down and picked me up.
" ████ ███████ ███████. ██ █████ ████ ████ ██ ████ ███████. "
" ████ █████ █████- "
" (L/N). "
I jumped at the sound of Wesker's voice as I turned and looked at him. I was drifting off just staring blankly at a wall I never even saw him leave his office and walk over to me. I'm normally better at not doing that. It's this bloody rain reminding me of memories I pushed deep in the back of my mind. And the captain caught me staring off… He looked confused as to why I was staring at the Wall ahead of me. I blinked before turning fully to face him. Knowing that this could go one of either way, either I get in trouble for spacing out. Or he is going to give me more work to do.
" Ah- sorry sir I was thinking about something. "
I said nervously as I looked up at him. He opened his mouth and then softly closed it. He seems indecisive about what to say before finally deciding on what to say before he finally spoke..
" You typed up Redfield's reports. "
I blinked- I didn't even know he came back out to grab the folder. How long was I spacing out? I could have sworn it was only for a few moments. I smiled nervously before I rubbed the back of my head. If he finds out I did both Barry, Jill, and Chris's task I would be in trouble.
"Um- I had nothing to do with- "
" When did you clock in (L/N). "
" When did you clock in? Mister Robert said that you didn't sign in. Again. You know you have to sign it too right? I've only ever seen you do it twice since I started working here. And as nice handwriting as Mister Robert has. Aren't you just going to get into more trouble by not doing it? "
He let out an annoyed sigh as he closed his eyes for a brief moment and lowered his head slightly. He knew that he wasn't going to get an answer from me. So he held up the file with the reports in it in front of me.
" If you're going to lie. Get better at it. Redfield doesn't write his reports correctly (L/N). "
He said as he stared at me. Crap, he knew from the start. I should have copied it to word form word but. Chris's way of filling stuff hurts my brain too much. Translating it was hard enough, writing it back in that horrible way he does it was too much work to do this early in the morning. I rubbed my right arm nervously as I have him a nervous smile.
" How- dooo you know that Chris didn't start following directions? " . . . . . .
He stared at me as if I had just said the most stupidest thing in the world. Which I kind of just did but that's not the point. We both knew I've been found out. I was just trying to postpone the next subject at hand for as long as possible. Him scolding me for doing their work that they needed to do on their own. This wouldn't be so bad if this was the first time he's caught me doing this…. This is now the fourth time he's caught me doing this.
" Stop doing his work for him (L/N). He needs to do it on his own. As for the report files. You know that Berry and Jill we're meant to go through their files and sort them out on their own. "
My nervous smile stayed on my face. I know he was right, but it was bothering me that it wasn't done yet. I could tell it was bothering him to with the sigh he let out. I think he was more upset about doing Barry and Jill's work than Chris's work. Even the captain can't read Chris's handwriting so it made his job just a little bit easier. It was one less thing he had to do.
" If you wish to help organize things then you may follow me. "
He said as he turns and walked back into his office. My feet moved before my brain could process what was happening. He handed me some. older files and asked me to organize them as he sat down in his office chair. I nod my head and sat down in the chair in front of his desk as I started to work. The sound of him typing in the background was calming for me, being around him had a calming ora about him. It wasn't often that we were all alone like this. And he normally would send me back to my desk with work to do instead of keeping me in his office. I assumed he wanted to make sure I was doing things correctly and not drifting off again. I don't do that often but it has been pointed out by others that it's harder for me to work when it's raining. People joke about my brain not liking the rain, and as much as I wish that was true. I knew that it was because I could never put that night deep within without it showing back up as soon as the rain begins to fall. It has happened on many missions where I was paired up with him. It would start to rain and Wesker would have me paired up with him or with someone. I never told anyone what happen that night. As far as their concerns they don't need to know, They just think I moved to the US for a fresh start. He would help keep me calm and focused on the task ahead. He was a good leader, even if he was a bit harsh or hard to talk to.
" (L/N)- "
He started as I handed him the folder back to him. He stopped and took the folder back and put the folder back into the filing cabinet. By now it was close to 5 and, neither of us seemed to be going back home to get what little sleep was left before our shifts actually started.
"…. Why did the Chief call you in this early? "
I asked as he grabbed some of his unfinished paperwork and pin. I knew that there were things that he couldn't talk about so I didn't really expect him to answer me as he started to write. Out of all of us, his handwriting was the nicest. It was nice to look at which made reading things form bit nicer.
" What we discuss is classified information (L/N). "
I nod as I start to stand up to go back to my desk. He keeps his eyes on his unfinished work but spoke. I figured as much. He did seem pretty angry when he entered the office. so I couldn't help but wonder what the Chief said to get him so worked up like that. It was a rare sight to see him like that and he probably didn't think anyone else was in the office to see it when he came in. I never did come in this early after all. Even when I did. No one arrived before Wesker. Most time it was me and Rebecca walking in at the same time. She was a sweet girl with a bright future ahead of her. She was the one to patch us all up whenever we came back from a mission or Chris did a stupid.
" What about you (L/N). "
He pulled me out of my thoughts again as I looked at him, his attraction still on his work. I closed my eyes and gave him a nervous smile.
" I um- couldn't sleep. I only got in a little bit ago- "
" Do tell me, how 2:56 in the morning a little bit ago? "
He asked as his pin glided along the paper. A nervous look grew on my face- how did he know I was here?
" Mister Larson said that you were still here and what time you arrived. "
He said as he flipped the now finished page and started working on the one beneath it. I looked at him, not sure what to say yet.
" He told me to send you home. "
He paused his writing for just a moment considering Mister Robert's words before going back to filling out his work. I looked away slightly aw a rubbed my arm again. Another loud thunder echoed into the room making me flinch. Making Wesker stop his writing and look up at me. I quickly looked back at him with a nervous smile before another echoed and made me jump again. Wesker stared at me before looking back at his leftover paperwork.
" Did you walk here (L/N). "
He asked as I quickly looked back at him.
" Um- Yeah. But it's ok! I don't mind walking in the- "
B O O M
I jumped, letting out a small squeak. This storm wasn't easing up at all!!? It sounded like it was getting worse by the minute! What was worse was I was flinching in front of Wesker. I was never gonna live this down and I knew it, it may be just us here but I know that he was not going to forget about this any time soon. He was still looking down at the papers and writing on them before he stop. Setting his pin down and pushing his chair back.
" Ah- s-sir? "
I shuddered as he stood up and walked past me to retrieve his coat, I tuned as my eyes followed him confused.
" Go grab your coat and bag (L/N). You are to come in at your scheduled time tomorrow is that clear. "
He ordered me as he started to zip up his own coat. I stuttered as I tried to tell him that I was fine for work but he didn't say anything and gave me the Wesker look. With that, I knew it was better to grab my things than to try to argue with Wesker. Walking past him quickly and over to my desk. I put on my S.T.A.R.S coat then tossed my bag over my shoulder. Wesker had walked out of his office and turn to lock the door as I made sure that I had everything. I walked over to the office door as Wesker followed behind me. Opening the door and walking out as Wesker turned around a shut off the lights as well as locking the door.
" Um… Captian sir? "
I mumbled as he started walking down the hall toward where the restroom was. I quickly took off so that I could catch up to him. When he knows where he's going he tends to go into autopilot mode and make a b line to wherever it is he's going to. I keep looking ahead to where we were walking, then slightly up at him. From the side, it was easier to see his blue eyes that I never get to see. No one gets to see them. Those glasses are always on his face. Chris and Barry have even made bets that he has them on during sex. Of course, we'll never know but. It's not like Wesker would just tell any of us things like that. The team can even get the guy to join them for drinks every Tuesday night. We made out way back into the main entry and I watched as Wesker made his way over to where the cop cars were kept. He paused and looked back over at me to see if I was still following. He looked slightly annoyed that I had stopped so I quickly rushed over to him again before he started walking.
" Cap… Tain? "
I mumbled confused as he walked over to the garage. I looked over at Mister Robert who simply smiled and waved at me. I returned the smile and wave before quickly moving to not keep Wesker waiting any longer. He grab a set of keys and he walked into the garage as I followed close behind him. Unlocking one of the cars he waited for me to get in on the other side which I quickly do so. He get into the car fully and closed the door. We both buckle in out seatbelts before he started the car and turn on the headlights. I heard him turn on the radio as he shifted the car into reverse.
"-white male in a black car driving drunk by highway 11. Not sure about weapons. white male in a black vest in a black car-"
"- 24, 10-16 in progress -"
"-10-4-"
"- 14-12?-"
"-14-12-?"
"-14-23?-"
"-14 negicve-"
It was still early in the morning and the radio chatter was already going off. Wesker pulled the car back and started to make his way toward the exit of the garage. The sound of the rain hitting the roof of the car wasn't that calming to me at the moment. It was getting worse fast, and as much as I am capable of walking home. Wesker was a better driver in this weather than I ever was. I looked over at him as some of the street lights moved pasted Wesker, some of it reflecting off of his glasses for a moment before there went away as we drove past him.
" Um- I should give you my address- "
" I know where you live (Y/N). "
He simply said as it made me blush very lightly. Right, guess he would know where all his team members lived. It was listed in our files where we all lived after all. He pulled over to the entryway before putting the car into park so I could get out. The radio chatter grew as he grabbed the radio and replied to it as I got out. I couldn't exactly hear what he said into it as I turned around.
"Th-Thank you, captain sir-"
I said as he said nothing but nodded slightly before I closed the door. He stayed parked them till he saw me get all the way into the entry way of the apartment and behind the lock set of doors before he turned on his siren and pulled out of the parking lot and drove off. I watched him go as the red was still on my face. Slowly turning away and walking over to the elevator and pressing the button calling it. As I waited I walked over to the mailbox and grabbed the few letters that were there before I heard the ding of the levator. I quickly walked into it and press the 4th-floor button as the door closed. Waiting for it to arrive before the doors opened again and I rushed out and made a b line to my home. Pulling out the keys from my pocket and fumbling with them as I somehow manage to unlock my door and get inside. I turn on one of the laps and read who the letters were from as I set down my bag. They were from my father. It was almost enough for me to ripe them up and throw the out. But he wouldn't contact me if it wasn't important. I simply set them on the table and would deal with them later. Making my way to my room as I started to take off my clothes and put on a silk nightgown. I claimed into bed and try to get some sleep. And if I couldn't sleep. Try to keep the very attractive Wesker out of my mind and not have a certain type of dream about him and I. I grumbled as I grab my quilt and threw it over my head as I closed my eyes and attempted to sleep. - 🖤-
" Ah- (Y/N)! There you are! We were worried when we didn't see you yesterday! "
Rebecca treated me as I walked to my desk with a tired smile. I didn't exactly know how to explain what happen yesterday. So I smiled at her.
" Oh- I'm ok- I just- "
" (L/N) has been walking home in the rain and got sick. "
A voice spoke behind me as I jumped slightly. Turning around in my seat and I saw Wesker standing there handing me some reports he wanted to be filled out. Rebecca looked at him and then back at me as I took the papers from him.
" You been doing what now!? You own a car, don't you? Why have you been walking in this weather? "
"H-hey come on now- cut me some slack. I just wanted to get some more steps in. "
" But that's something dumb that Chris would do! "
" Hey! I'm right here you know? "
Rebecca rolled her eyes at Chris's comment but then quickly placed her hand on my forehead to feel my temp.
" She's fine Miss. Chambers. "
I could hear Wesker say as he walked away from our desk and over to Jill to get some papers back form her. Rebecca sat back down in her chair and looked at me.
" Well, you no longer have a temp. That's good! But you missed the big announcement yesterday. "
She said as I started to turn my chair and face my desk with he papers in hand.
" Oh yeah? What was it? Another girl turned down Chris in front of everyone again? "
" hEY!! "
Rebecca rolled her eyes and shook her head.
" The RPD charity ball is happening in a few weeks! It's meant to be a big event! "
I stared at her before I let out a small nervous chuckle. Rebecca blinked and looked concerned.
" (Y/N)? Are you ok? "
She asked me before in seconds I slammed my face hard onto my desk Making her and everyone around us but Wesekr jump.
" Mouse- what the hell?! " " (Y/N) what happen!? " " KId?! " " Wha- (Y/N)?! A-are you ok!! Let me look at your nose!! "
Rebecca said as she frantically pulled me up and looked over at my nose.
" Your bleeding!! Stay here I'll go get something to stop the bleeding! "
She said quickly as Chris, Jill, and Barry quickly walked over to me.
" G-guys- I'm fine really! It's just a bloody nose. "
"Mouse you just slammed your face into your desk!? "
Chris said as he looked worried at me. Jill and Barry look even more confused as Wesker turned his head over to watch us as Rebecca got back with some herbs and supplies. Wesker raised a slight eyebrow over at my direction but I was too busy trying to calm the other down to see it.
" Really I'm fine guys- oW!! Becca?! "
" Hold still! This is why you need to stop being paired up with Chris! It's affecting you! "
" What- Becca?1! "
Chris said offended as Jill looked over at him.
" Is she wrong? "
"You're not helping Jill-"
" (L/N). "
I jump at the sound of Weskers voice. He sounded annoyed. I looked over at him past Rebecca standing by his office.
" My office. "
He said coldly as he walked into his office and shut the door. Everyone watched him walk away. Then looked back at him. The universal sign for. "I was fucked."

As I entered the dining facilities, I spotted a muscular man with a beret and a rifle slung over his shoulder. He stares at me with a smirk on his face as if he knew my every movement. I smiled as I carried my tray over to him. "Hey." I said as I sat down next to my friend. The man simply remained silent, occasionally sipping his whisky while he looked over at me eye occasionally, not saying a word. "Oh, I know that look. what did you get in trouble for doing this time?" I asked my fellow soldier as I started to eat my food. The man continued to sip his whisky and occasionally glanced at me with a faint smile on his face, but still did not respond to my question, simply continuing to eat his meal in silence. It appeared to be that he was either unwilling or unable to answer my question, as he continued to avoid eye contact and continued to stare into his whisky. I rolled my eyes. "Did you try to pick a fight with Canary? Got your ass handed to you I see." The man stopped for a moment when I mentioned Canary. He let out an annoyed sigh and finally looked up at me, setting down his glass of whisky and speaking in a slightly annoyed voice.
"I did not 'try' to pick a fight with Canary. I did pick a fight with her. But that's besides the point. Why do you always insist on harassing me about my fights with Canary, anyway?"
"Because every time. You get your ass handed to you by her."
I said as I took a sip of my water. "And, this is the part where I get to say... I told you so. Again."
"Oh come on, I don't get my 'ass handed' to me every time we fight. I hold my own just fine."
He took a sip of his whisky and sighed.
"Really? Is that where you're sitting over here moping about?"
"Moping? What gives you the impression that I'm moping Mouse? Maybe I'm just trying to enjoy my drink in peace."
He took another sip of his whisky. "You didn't come and join me and Six for chow time. Meaning that your moping about something. You forget how long we've been friends. I can read you like a book."
I said with a slight smirk.
"Oh come on, just because I don't want to eat with Six and you, doesn't mean that something bothering me."
He took another sip from his whisky and returned the smirk.
"Also, maybe I just wanted to spend some time alone with my whisky Mouse."
"Oh, then you love your whisky more than your wife then?"
I teased as I ate more of my food.
"Hey, now that's not true."
He said quickly before he scoffed.
"Fine. You're right. I am moping," He acknowledged, taking another sip of his whisky.
"It's not that I don't want to eat with Six and you. It's not that I want to spend time alone with my whisky either, Or that I lost a fight with Canary."
He let out another sigh, shaking his head.
"I was meant to be able to go home in a month so I could be there for the birth of my daughter." The smirk on my face quickly went away as a word expression took over it.
"Your still able to go home... right?"
He closed his eyes tight as his grip on his whisky grew.
He let out a heavy sigh as if he had been wanting to hold in that information for a while.
"I don't know Mouse. That's the problem. I was supposed to be on a flight tomorrow to go home and see my wife, my daughter, my family. Now they're sending our team on an undisclosed mission."
His eyes narrowed and his grip on his whisky tightened even more.
"The worst part isn't that I might die. The worst part is that I might not be able to see the birth of my daughter."
My eyes shifted to whisky then back up to him worriedly. "I haven't heard anything about this mission. And they're sending us off on it tomorrow?"
"Yeah, the order just came by earlier today from higher up. We got the orders and now we're all being shipped out tomorrow."
He took a sip of his whisky.
"I tried to talk them out of it. I told them that I have a wife whose about to have our daughter. I told them that I couldn't miss her birth. I told them that we might not all be coming back from this mission."
He let go of his scotch and took another sip.
"But apparently the mission was much more important than me being there for my family."
I looked down at my food.
"Whats the mission about."
"Apparently there was an attack on a nearby town, they released some gas into the town. They need our team to go in and find any remaining survivors."
"Why not Canary's team?"
He shook. "They're sendin' them out somewhere else tomorrow as well."
“Damn. So they’re putting us into potential danger. And you don’t get to be with your families? That’s not much of a fair trade off now is it?”
I continued to look down at my food and thought about what he had told me.
“So the town is going to be on lockdown when we get there I assume?”
"Yeah. Six worried that someone messed with the gas masks and made them defective." He said.
“Let me guess… the gas is some type of neurotoxin?”
I asked as I took a sip of my water. "What can't another team do it? Why do they need us specifically to go investigate?" He shrugged.
“I’m getting a bad feeling about this…” I muttered as I took another sip of my water.
“Canary’s team is going out somewhere else? They don’t even have them going with us?"
He shook his head as he finished his whisky.
“So what do you think the odds are we come back from this mission?” I asked nervously. He took a long moment before responding.
"The way I see it, we've got about fifty-fifty odds of making it back in one piece."
“I… don’t like those odds.” I replied back after he gave his answer.
He slowly stood up as I followed holding my now empty tray. "Well, let's get this mission done and get home safely." He said as he looked at me. I nodded my head as we walked. "Yeah."
Six, Nic, I, and others where drove over to the front of the town. Were all putting on our gas masks as the car stopped. I looked over at the other men in the truck. Six looked worried and Nic had a concerned look on his face. ".... You two ready?" I asked as I looked at him and Six.
Nic let out a sigh and nodded.
“Yeah, as ready as I guess I can be.” Six rolled his eyes as he put his gas mask on. “Like we even have a choice… I don't know about you guys but I want to get this job done and over with already.”
"Agreed," I mumbled.
Nic put his gas mask on before he sighed in frustration.
"Let's just get this over with..." I just rolled my eyes as I put on my gas mask and sighed. "I guess I'm ready too. I just wish I knew what was waiting for us out there... The waiting is the worst part..." Nic gently pats my shoulder before taking a deep breath as he got out of the car.
“Well, whatever it is... let’s just get it over with. I’m tired of just sitting here… I’m ready to take on whatever comes our way.”
He started to make his way into the town, but he stopped once he remembered something.
“Oh yea, one more thing… let’s make sure we have our radios on at all times… we don’t want to risk getting separated from each other.”
I nod my head as both Six and I check out radios as the other men from the truck rush past us. "Let's stay safe ok? We don't know what's in there and-" I looked at Nic and Six. "-You both have families to go home too." I said.
SIx nodded his head back at me as Nic paused to look back at me.
“Trust me, I don’t plan on staying here longer than we have to. We all wanna get home to our families.”
"And your our family too Mouse. We're gonna keep you safe too." Nic said.
I just took a deep breath.
“Y-Yeah… I-I just wanna get this over with.”
We started making our way into the town, I constantly glanced down at my radio to make sure it was on. Six followed behind me as Nic was ahead of us.
“That’s one thing we all have in common Mouse. Nobody wants to get trapped here any longer than we need to.”Six and I looked around nervously as we made our way through the empty and desolate town. our footsteps were the only sounds heard throughout this place. Nic took a deep breath as his fingers tightened around his assault rifle.
“We need to keep moving… and fast. The longer we stay here, the more chances we have of getting lost…”
I nodded as I looked around the empty streets. ".... What if there's no one..." I start.
He let out a nervous sigh as he stopped in front of Six and Nic.
“I’ve been thinking, maybe we should split up for a little bit. I mean this town is huge… It could take forever to search every single building here.”
He nervously looked around.
“It might be safer if we split up just for a bit to make our search a little easier. You guys could take the south side of the town while I take the north side… Once you’re done over there then we can meet up again.”
"And leave you alone? You of all people need to make it out of here alive." I said as I took a breath through the gas mask. Nic tried to give me a comforting smile. “Hey don’t forget, I know these streets better than anyone else here. I’ll keep my radio on at all times so we don’t get lost or separated too far from each other. I’ll be fine, I swear.. We just need to be quick. I doubt that whatever… it is that’s in there could be that bad.”
He started making his way down the street.
“Just try not to take all day over there, I’ll see you both back at our meeting spot in a few hours.”
I looked over at Six with a worried look on my face. Even though his face mask. I could still tell that he was giving me the exact same look.
He sighed softly as he adjusted his rifle.
“Yeah, I don’t really like the idea of splitting up either. But if we don’t then it’ll take us forever to search the whole town… We don’t know how much time we have before the gas spreads and we can’t leave. So as much as I don’t like it, it might be the best idea. Like Nic said, we can just meet up again at the meeting spot and we’ll be fine.”
Six, Nic, I, and others where drove over to the front of the town. Were all putting on our gas masks as the car stopped. I looked over at the other men in the truck. Six looked worried and Nic had a concerned look on his face. ".... You two ready?" I asked as I looked at him and Six.

I nod as he turns away from where Nic is heading. I made sure again my radio was on as I looked around. "Did the grass kill everyone?" I asked. He looked around the empty streets.
“Maybe… I mean it’s not like there’s anything else that could kill you here right? It’s just gas. Besides… There’s no bodies anywhere… Maybe they’re all inside the buildings and just unconscious…”
Suddenly a shot rings out close by, causing him to tense slightly and turn his attention in the direction of the sound. There’s another shot, and then silence.
“What the hell was that…” He looks around at all of his surroundings cautiously. "Gunshots..." I mumbled as I quickly radioed Nic. "Nic!!.... Nic come in!!..... Nothing..." I said as I slowly looked up at Six. He took a short breath through his gas mask.
“...No response. I don’t like this. Nic?! Niiic?!”
He continued to radio Nic but he just got static in the radio.
“... I don’t like this…” he said before looking around the surroundings cautiously. “Well... Lets get looking.” He took a deep breath through his gas mask before making his way to the first building. I followed after him as I tried to contact Nic again, nothing. "Clear!"
Six said as I stepped in. I looked around the building. "See anyone?" I asked as I took a deep breath through the gas mask.
“...No. Just like the other buildings this place looks completely deserted... Wait!” He stops and listens. “I hear something... it sounds like... A radio?”
He quickly pulls it out and turns it on.
“M-Mouse?! Six?! Is that you? Where are you?!”
It is Nic’s voice on the other end of the radio!
“Nic! You’re alive!” I say back into the radio. “Where are you?!”
Nic continues to frantically speak into the radio.
"Get out of the town! The masks have been tempered with!" Nic said through the radio. I looked up at Six in horror.
“What?! What are you saying Nic?! Speak clearly!! What do you mean by masks have been tempered with?!” Six said quickly.
I heard another distant gunshot ring out across the town. And it definitely did not come from Six.
“... I don’t like that. Something isn’t right here Six. I don’t know what yet, but this whole place just feels off…” He said.
Six quickly looked up at me. His eyes widened before we both heard a sound. I sounded like someone was gaggin on something almost. Like a monster. “Did anyone else hear that?” I asked as I quickly tried to get six and I out of there to find Nic. Suddenly I hear screaming coming from the building to my right. I look into the building and I see a strange figure approaching Six and me. It looked humanoid but it looked more like a corps walking than a human. Six pointed his rifle at it before firing at it.
“What the hell! Why isn’t it dying!” Six said. The bullets hit it, but it didn't die. The thing continued to charge at us as I grabbed Six and we both started to run.
"What is that thing!?" I yelled. “I have no idea!” Six yelled back as we ran through a broken-down building.
We ran out the other end and started heading towards a huge hole in the fence I had seen earlier. “Come on, we need to find Nic and get out of here!” Six yelled, hoping that I had heard him.
As if we were in a horror movie, a loud thud could be heard. We turned around to see the strange humanoid thing trying to open the door behind us. “We need to keep moving!” I yelled.
We ran to the hole in the wall, which seemed to be the only way out. The humanoid creature broke through the door. Six pointed his rifle at it and pulled the trigger.
Click. Click. Click. The gun didn’t fire and we could hear footsteps behind us coming towards us. “Six?!” I yelled before he grabbed my hand and we were running again. "Nic!! Where are you!?" I said through my radio.
"By the fence!!"
Nic said back through the radio. We kept running through the broken buildings when Six stumbled down onto the ground. "Six!!" I shouted before turning back for him, seeing these humanoid things coming after him. I named my rifle to shoot at their knees to hopefully slow them down for a bit. I went over to Six who was frantic trying to get his gasmask off of him. He was coughing up blood. "The grass is affecting you- we need to get you out of here fast!!" I said as I helped him up. The humanoid creatures got closer and I could see that their throats were burning and bubbling with acid. I grabbed Six's hand. “You need to go, now. I’m gonna be fine, you don’t want what’s happening to me to happen to you!” Six yelled as he coughed up more blood. "I feel fine- I'm not just gonna leave you here!" I said as I helped him up, having him lean on me for support. “You don’t understand Six, if you get out of here, whatever is in your system will kill you! You need to get out of here!” Six was struggling to breathe.
“I’m not going leave without you” I said as he coughed up more blood.
The humanoid creatures were getting close and were starting to burn the grass the acid was on. “We need to get out now Six!” I yelled as I started to help Six getaway. I quickly radioed Nic to tell him where we were heading. "Nic!! Were heading towards the middle of the town- there are these humanoid creatures chasing us- and Six is infected!"
Six started to get woozy and his legs started to give out. “I can’t move… we need to get out of here and quickly, before you become like me. You have to leave, okay? You have to promise you’ll get out of here before they get us.” Six was struggling to breathe and couldn’t speak anymore, but he managed to give a quick look to me as his eyes started to glaze over.
“I’ll be fine!” he said in between raspy breaths, but he clearly wasn’t going to survive this. Tears started to form in my eyes as I shook my head. "N-no- Six- I'm not leaving you-" Six suddenly collapsed. His breathing became laboured and there was blood coming out of his mouth. “Six!?” I yelled. I knew I couldn’t leave him here so I tried to pick him up but it was too late. His body was already going stiff. “Six please, get up! Please.” I was desperately trying to get him to wake up. “This isn’t happening!” I yelled. “Please six, please!” I continued to shake him but he didn’t respond. Six was gone. I held his body close to me, still desperately trying to wake him up.
“No no no no- This can't be happening!!” I yelled as I held Six. Tears were streaming down my face and I kept shaking him, trying to wake him up. My hand reached up to rip off my own gas mask. I didn’t want it to be true but Six wasn’t getting up, he was gone. “Six please wake up! Please!!” I yelled at the top of my lungs. “This can’t be real!!” I kept saying it over and over again. I was in absolute shock. Six and I had been through so much together but we never thought it would end like this. He had family back home, and people to go back to... It couldn't end like this. My hand slowly reached over to the radio. "N-Nic... Six is gone." Silence. I could feel the tears streaming down my face as I held Six’s body in my arms. I couldn’t believe it. Six was gone. My best friend, a brother to me, was gone. I looked around desperately, hoping that there was something that could be done. But there was nothing. Six was dead. I still couldn’t process it, I just kept staring at Six’s lifeless body in my arms. This couldn’t be my reality. I slowly moved my hand to gently close his eyes. pulling his mask back up to hide his face like he always had it. Placing him down gently. I took some of his ammo and his dog tags as I reloaded my gun. I needed to find Nic and get out of here or the same thing will happen to us.
I stood up to put Six's dog stages into my pocket to keep it safe. Then I heard something moving in the grass. I pointed my rifle towards the direction I heard the noise coming from. “Who’s there?” I yelled out as I moved closer to the movement. A humanoid creature that had followed us throughout the building was there in my sights. I pulled the trigger and sent 5 rounds through its face, tearing it to shreds. I stood up again to look around for Nic. I had to get to him before the monsters could kill me as well. I looked around for anything that could lead me tod or bodies. A trail of blood goes off into the distance. I followed it, my gun ready for anything else that may follow the same trail. I moved behind cover as I followed it, hoping that Nic, or anyone else for that matter was still alive. I cautiously approached the blood trail, my gun pointed at the entryway in case of anything being there. When I looked inside, I saw Nic lying unconscious on the ground. His legs and arms were covered in bite marks from the humanoid creatures. I grabbed Nic and pulled him outside of the destroyed building entrance. “Nic! Wake up! Can you hear me?” I yelled. He woke up slowly and turned to me. “Where…. Where’s Six?” he asked, looking around. “I’m sorry Nic, he’s… he’s gone, but we’re gonna get out of here.” I looked into Nic’s eyes, knowing that he didn’t have much time before he became like Six. “Come on, we need you to stay lucid.” I carried him over my shoulder as I radioed for evacuation. I was determined to leave here with my friend still in one piece. "Those... this got him?" I shook my head. "The gass... He started coughing then he..." I knew it wouldn’t be long until Nic would be gone too. I had maybe a couple minutes at best. We had to make a break for it, NOW. “Nic you aren’t gonna be in one piece for much longer, we need to leave. now!!!” I was desperate for Nic to understand and follow. Nic reached up to take his gas mask off. "Mouse, I'm not gonna make it..."
I didn’t want to hear that! But I had to be realistic - I’d seen what these gas did to Six. “Damnit Nic don’t talk like that, we’re gonna get you out of here, I promised Six I wouldn’t leave you here alone so we’re gonna get you back home and get your arm fixed, do you understand?” With all the adrenaline I felt I could barely hide my frustration. “The gas mask don't work- so we need to keep moving, we’re almost at the exfil zone.” We had little choice but to take the risk, knowing that every second wasted increased Nic’s chances of becoming Six. I rushed down the path towards the exfill, carrying Nic over my shoulder and praying that he wouldn’t turn. There was a faint hope that a medical team at Base camp would be able to save him, but I didn’t dare to think he’d make it long enough. "Were almost there- hold on Nic!" "Graahh..." I sound came out of Nic as his head hung low. I glanced over at him worriedly. "Nic--" I said before I saw that his eyes were completely glaze over. “Nic!!” I screamed. “Nic you’ve got to fight this!! Don’t do it!! Fight it Nic!!! Don’t you die on me Nic!!!” I couldn’t contain myself as tears fell down my face. I couldn’t understand how everything could go so wrong. But no matter how much I tried to shake Nic back to consciousness it was futile. I continued on, fighting back my tears, towards the exfill zone, knowing my time was running out. “Nic!!” I yelled again. “Nic this can’t be real!” I kept repeating it as tears ran down my face. I still hoped that he was in there deep down and somewhere he could hear me. “Just hold on Nic!!” I said as I continued forward. I had to get to the exfill zone as soon as possible. But it felt like we were never going to make it. Nic’s condition only seemed to get worse. "I'm.. Not gonna make it Mouse..." "N-no you are-" "Kid- listen to me!"
"We'er almost to the exfill, I could see the building up in the distance- We can make it I promise!!” I continued shouting as tears fell into Nic’s face. He just looked at me with dull eyes. "Mouse, my wife had no one but me... I-I need you to promise me that you be willing to help her if she needs it-" "She won't need my help! She'll have you!" "N-no..." He gasped for air. "S-she won't.." I looked behind me, I could see the humanoid creature approaching. “Nic, we need to go! Come on!!” Nic collapsed onto the ground, not fighting anymore, not responding to anything. I dragged his body up and rushed forward to the building in the distance. I was so close to the exfill. The exfill zone was in sight, I could make the call to come pick the two of us up. But Nic was lifeless and I didn’t want to leave him there like that. I tried adjusting my rifle on my back so I could pick him up again when he started to move. "Nic?!" "Rrraw!!" Nic body moved as it tried to bite me, he had become like one of the humanoid creatures that were after me and Six. I yelled again “Nic!!” And backed away slowly from him. My eyes were filled with tears. “Nic, please” Nic’s face lunged at me. I fired my gun 5 times into his torso. “I’m sorry Nic” I kept yelling as tears ran down my face. “I’m so sorry...“ I lowered my gin as I took a feI thought we could make it together, I thought I would be able to take you home, and get your arm fixed, and that you would be able to see your wife again." I was so close to getting us both out of here. I thought I could do this, I thought for sure I could make it. I thought for sure Nic would see his wife again. Nic's face started to glaze over as tears rolled down my cheeks. I stepped back, shaking, unable to deal with this anymore. I dropped my rifle, knowing what I had to do.
I'm sorry Nic.
-- 🖤🔪-- I couldn’t believe I was gonna lose my last teammate. There was nothing I could do to save him. Nothing. As I watched Nic pass on I felt nothing but regret. We didn’t get out, I failed. I closed my eyes and took a second to breathe. It was all over, we failed. How could I ever face them after this?? I didn’t know, I didn’t have a choice. I’m lucky I even made it out of there alive. I've been in a quarantine room since I got back. Apparently, I was the only Survivor. They had people go back and retrieve my gas mask to see if my gas mask was functional, but apparently, it was tampered with as well. So no one knows why I wasn't infected. Apparently when they went back to get my gas mask. They were going to get the bodies as well so they could bury them. But then the bodies were all gone. It was like someone else came in and took them away before we could retrieve them. I held on to Six and Nic's dog tags as tight as I could. I didn't let anyone take them from me. The beeping of the heart monitor attached to me kept going off. And the fan above me keeps making noise. It was almost nerve-wracking being in that room alone but I assume became adjusted to it. Finally, someone knocked on the door and entered. I looked up to see that it was one of the doctors. An older man with a clipboard in hand. Before they were wearing a hazmat suit with everyone being unsure if I was contaminated or not. But seeing as they were just wearing normal clothing now I assumed I probably wasn't? "Oh good, your awake." the doctor said as he sat down and opened his clipboard. "I see that the quarantine protocol lasted a lot longer then expected... so the question is; Do you feel normal? No weird urges to eat people?" He asked jokingly. "But seriously, you feel fine?" He continued looking at the clipboard. "I... Feel fine sir, I haven't felt off at all... Was I affected by the gas? If you're not wearing a hazmat suit then... I'm ok?" I asked. The doctor looked surprised. "You actually haven't noticed anything?" He got up to look towards the window. "It's been almost a three since you were put in quarantine." He said. The doctor continued to walk around, reading through his clipboard. Suddenly he stopped in his tracks and stared at me. "Wait..." He said, holding his clipboard in shock. "Are you serious? You haven't had any urges to eat people? No weird behavior patterns?" He asked. "No, I don't feel any different?" I responded. "You haven't even felt hungry?" He asked. "I've felt hungry for a pizza..." I said as my eyes watched him. He laughed and responded "You know, you're not the first person to have cravings for pizza. In fact, most of us doctors here have the same desire right now. The quarantine team has their hands full so we are eating MREs instead of a nice hot pizza." I glanced down at the floor then back up to him. "Sir.... What happened to me? This gas in the town didn't affect me? But it affected my teammates?" The doctor looked stunned. "That... is not possible." He said. "From what the reports claimed before the town went radio silent and before we found you. This gas infected people and turned them into a monster. How in the world did you manage to escape the gas AND not be affected?!" He asked. I was just as confused as him. "I thought if you weren't wearing a gas mask that you'd be infected, right?" I asked. The doctor nodded. "And you weren't wearing your gas mask. You were in the gas." "The gas mask where tempered with sir." I said I watched him move back and forth. The doctor stood up, staring at me. "If you don't have any symptoms then..." "Then... What sir?" "Then perhaps the gas only works on those who have a specific gene Or blood type... we have another possible explanation but we didn't know if it was true. But I think you've just proved it true. We think that the gas only works if you have a specific gene or blood type. And since you don't have that, you just walk away fine." I was stunned, was that possible? Does that mean I was safe then?
"So, if you don't have that gene, you're immune?" I asked. The doctor nodded. "But- Six was type O. same as me. and the gas killed him quickly?" "There may be other factors that are involved in this gene as well, but we don't know anything for certain yet." He said. "So.... I'm immune?" I asked. "From what it looks like. Do you feel different at all?" The doctor asked me. "No, I feel completely normal. No weird side effects or anything." I responded. "That doesn't make sense. How can you be completely normal and immune?" He asked me. "I'm as confused as you sir." I responded. 'Could I actually enjoy life again?' I thought to myself. "What... do I do now sir?" "You'll have someone come by to take you and do a few tests just to be safe but, as far as I'm concerned; you're free to go." The doctor responded. "Wait- What?!" I shouted excitedly. "You mean you're gonna' let me out of here?!" "Yep." he responded. "If there's nothing wrong with you then... why should you be stuck in a room where there's nothing to do?" I smiled and said "Thank you Sir. Thank you thank you thank you." "It's no problem." He responded as he walked out of the room.
-- 🖤🔪--
I stared down at the dog tags as I heard the rain hitting in the window harder.I was brought back to reality when a giant flashlight and the sound of thunder could be heard echoing throughout the room. I quickly put the dog tags down and grabbed the fresh change of clothes for the captain.
Wesker looked at Mouse "You don't happen to have a hair dryer in your apartment do you Mouse?" I nervously smiled as I nodded my head.
Wesker smirked at me before he sat down on the couch with the blanket and pillows "I guess that makes sense mouse. You have to work with Redfield after all. He's more than capable of doing those things." He then paused for a moment as he put the blanket on himself to keep warm "The couch should be fine for now. But thanks for asking Mouse" As he laid back on the couch the storm outside became even louder "I must say I wasn't expecting it to be raining this hard tonight. It's gonna be a long and cold night tonight Mouse." I let out a nervous chuckle. "I'll go turn up the heat for you sir-" I started as I turned away to start walking over to turn up the heat. "I am fine Mouse. I don't need the heat turned up." Wesker said. "The noise of the storm and rain should be a nice way to help you relax while you fall asleep." He added on with a chuckle. He put his sunglasses back on as he turned his head away from me. "It's getting late. Both of us should be going to bed now." Wesker said. I nod before I turned away. "Right, good night sir." I said before I made my way back to my room and closed the door. "Goodnight Mouse" and with that Wesker laid down on the couch and closed his eyes he thought about what Mouse said about her old teammates. He thought about trying to ask her questions about the team and what happened to them but he decided against it. After a few seconds of deep thought, he fell asleep a few minutes later.

Wesker came out of his office a few times before he left for his meeting with the chief. It was still early so people wouldn't start coming in till after Wesker got back from the meeting. I made my way over to the item storage to grab a few files. I walked back over to my desk. I sat down as I heard the office door open and Barry walking in.
"Good morning Barry."
I said as I glanced over to him as I held some files in my hands, Barry grumbled as he rubbed the back of his neck tiredly. He lifted up his head and waved at me. He held a wet umbrella in one hand and started to take off his coat with the other. Barry shifts normally didn't start till later on, he was one of the last one to clock in for work. It was a bit odd but maybe he just picked up some extra hours.
"Morning (Y/n)."
He said through another yawn, setting the umbrella down on his desk and laying his coat over his chair. "Early morning?"
"Yeah, it's one of my kid's birthdays today. So I wanted to get off early to help finish things up for her party."
I smiled and nod my head at him. "Is there anything I could do to help?" He shook his head no. "My wife has it mostly done already. Your welcome to come over if you want?"
I smiled and nod. "Sure! You guys live by that old book store right?" He nods. "Yeah, but if I may request something." I raised and eyebrow as I watched him walk over to me. "Sure, what is it?" "Please, use your car for ones."
I let out nervous laugh as I close my eyes and looked up at him. "What are you talking about I- totally used my card to get here today!"
Barry gave me an amused look. "You do know that I arrive at the same time you and Captain did right? I saw you guys pulled in and walked in together. I was still in my car because I'd spit my coffee in my chair and was cleaning it up." I stared up at him blanking a few times.
"Were you the- only one who saw us walking together?" He humped, having a light smile on his face "Well, I saw you, Mr Larson saw you, and I'm pretty sure a few of the more early birds saw you too but besides that. No one else in S.T.A.R.S saw you two."
I let a sigh as I gently lowered my head and rest my forehead against a desk look. "I didn't even ask him to drive me there today! I left early to walk to go get the donuts and coffee and as I was at the restaurant I saw his car pull up! I don't even know how he found me?" "Maybe it's because it's the same donut shop we all go to to get the donuts and coffee. And maybe it also had something to do with the fact that practically everyone here knew that you were not going to drive for some reason today." My eyes shifted over to look up at him. "Look, it's not my fault I don't like driving in the rain! I'm much more comfortable and used to driving in the snow. I'm not exactly from a spot where we get lots of rain!" "Well, a poor decision to move to Raccoon City, because it never stops raining here!" Barry had a soft smile on his face As I slowly sat back up. "Well, I can't exactly say that. Before my wife and I married. I tried convincing her to move somewhere warmer. But she was born and raised here. And that's where she wants to spend her days." I smiled up at him as he smiled talking about his wife.
"By the way, how is driving in the snow easier than the rain?" "Well, surprisingly once you've been put in Minnesota for a couple of years. You get used to driving in it." He seemed to shiver at the mention of the states. "I have family up there I know how bad the roads can get. Doesn't help when people up their drive like there's no ice or snow on the ground." I smirked slightly up at him. "Not a big fan of snow?"
"Rain, I can tolerate. Constantly shoveling out my driveway. Then going home from work to come back with it completely filled again? Not so much. At least I can pay the girls to shovel it out." I as I was slightly happy to live in an apartment building where I didn't have to do that. "Speaking of the girls. What should I get them?" "Well, the birthday girl loves horror novels for some reason. If you can find one for kids that'd be great." I nod in my head as I turn to boot up my computer. "It's a good thing you live next to an old bookstore. What about the other one?"
"Get her any kind of new music and she will love you." I smiled as the computer turned on and I grabbed a folder to get ready for the workday to begin. "Books and music, shouldn't be too hard."
Berry chuckled as he puts his hands into his pockets as he looked at me. "By the way. I should tell you that everyone here bet on who would pick you up today." I turned to my chair and looked up at him before rolling my eyes. "What is it with everyone here and making bets?" He shrugged. "Not too sure, it was mainly the younger ones that did. I just sat back and watched." I pushed my chair back to face my computer and sighed. "Who won?" "Jill and Rebecca." I turned my chair back again to look at him. "Jill and Rebecca?" "Yeah, Rebecca convinced her to bet on the captain." Of course, it was Rebecca, why was I not surprised? As Barry and I continue to talk Joseph walked in waving his hand before shaking his head like a puppy to get the water off his head. He pushed back the wet red bandana over his head and smiled at us. "Hey! You two were here early!" "It was my turn to get the food so I had to get here early." He blanked before looking over at Barry quickly.
"Who did it."
"Captain."
"Agh!!"
He let out an annoyed sound as he threw his hands in the air. "That's the last time I agree with Redfieldon bets!"
Barry smiled as I just looked confused over at Joseph. "Who did Chris say would get me?"
"We bet on Jill."
"Jills off today."
Barry said blankly as Joseph looked annoyed. "Wha-she is?!"
"Why do you think she and the people who actually read the schedule laughed when you two agreed on her?"
"Really?!"
"Even Richard didn;t have the heart to tell you two."
I couldn't help but laugh two of them talked. Joseph pinched the bridge between his eyes as he slowly stumbled back to his desk and sat down in his chair. "Stupid Chris not reading the schedule.." "You didn't read the schedule either!" I said as Barry and I both smiled. "Maybe next time do that before making bets on who's going to be here the next day!" Barry tagged in with a chuckle. "Yeah, yeah! You two don't need to rub it in anymore!!"
Our Smiles only grew wider. "Oh- just wait till Forest gets here! He's neeevveerr going to let you hear the end of this!" "Agh!! I don't want to think about what the "perfectionist" is going to say!"
Kenneth and Rebecca both entered the room at the same time. They were talking about medical stuff as Joseph turned his head to see who entered the room. Kenneth smiled at us as Joseph leaned back into his chair more. Pushing his bandana over his eyes and placing his arms behind his head. A grumpy look on his face. Kenneth glanced over and chuckled as Rebecca walked over and sat down by me. Barry walked away and stated to talk to Kenneth as Rebecca smiled at me.
"Sooo?"
"So?"
I asked as I looked over at her. Joseph let out an annoyed sound as Rebecca turned her head to glance at him before smiling victoriously.
"That's why you should have read the schedule Joseph!~"
She sang as Joseph lifted up the red bandana slightly to glare at her before moving it back to cover his eyes.
She's stuck out her tongue at him before turning back in her chair to look over at me. I let out a smile and laugh. "What is it with you guys and just constantly making bets around here?"
"It's fun seeing the boys make stupid bets."
She said in a slightly sarcastic tone as I close my eyes and smiled. "But you guys never do it when I'm here! I can't just keep hearing stories when the boys make stupid decisions! It's more fun seeing them make the stupid decisions!"
"We can hear you!"
Joseph shot from his desk as Rebecca and I let out a laugh. Enrico walked in and immediately scolded Joseph for yelling complaining that half the building could hear him or at least anyone in the hallway passing by. Joseph immediately stops slouching and pushes the bandana back up quickly sitting back up in his chair. The others members of S.T.A.R.S were starting to arrive in the office slowly. Rebecca and I smiled at each other before we both started to get to work. The captain was supposed to give us a debriefing on an upcoming mission later on today and we both wanted to get some work done before that happened. o I started to get to work on some old logs I still needed to get done and turn in as Enrico walked up to my desk from his worn and let out a soft cough. I looked up at him and tilt in my head to be confused as he had a folder in his hand and handed it to me. "I heard you're an expert in sloppy handwriting translations?"
I let out a soft laugh as I took the folder and open it up. "I'm assuming this is meant to be Edward's reports from your guys's last mission?" "That's what it's supposed to be." I nodded and close the folder, setting it on my desk. "Let me finish a few of my reports and I can see how much of it I can translate. He nodded. "Appreciate it." I smiled, Rebecca paused at her writing as she reached over and grabbed the folder, opening it. "I wonder who has the worst handwriting? Chris, Edward, or Brad?"
The three of us were silent for a moment before a simultaneously- five out of the six people in the room at the same time said, Chris. Kenneth just let out a hum and keep to himself and the medical files.
"I don't know how you do it. English is your second language, you think it'd be harder to translate this stuff?" Rebecca said as she closed the folder and placed it back on my desk as Enrico walked away back to his own desk and sat back down. "It was at first. But I've just grown used to it. Somehow?"
It went silent for a bit as we got back to work I heard Kenneth asking Barry about his kid's birthday. I smiled as he both talked about their kids proudly.. It must be nice, having parents to celebrate your birthday with. Not like mine were around anymore. The only family I have left is my uncle.
I haven't seen him in a long time. Not like it's a good thing to see him. It normally meant that something bad was about to happen. People can tell we're related by our hair color. But people tend to stay away from big tall angry Russian. The last time I saw him was on the night of-
"(L/N)."
I blinked as I was scared out of it with Wesker standing in front of me. I looked around to see others started to clock in. Wesley stood in front of my desk with a folder in hand.
"Um, isn't that. . . Chris's?"
"I needed this retyped asap."
He said as he placed the folder down beside me before walking off. I looked confused as I picked up the folder and opened it. What was with me and translating bad handwrit-
Holy crap.
How did Chris's handwriting somehow get even worse than before? And I thought the last few reports were bad. This is- this is just chicken scratches!? It's no wonder why Wekser handed it off to me. He normally hates it when I do other reports and stuff. But in this situation, I guess you have to understand what you're reading. It would make sense to just read Jill's copy for the reports but he probably needs both copies for some reason. Eventually, All of the S.T.A.R.S members arrived and started to work. I started to get to work on translating Chris's latest reports. A bit later Brad walked up to grab some coffee and donuts when he stopped and stared at it like it grew arms. Chris's desk was nearby as he looked up from his own work and raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong Brad? You look like you just seen a ghost."
"Did did anyone take Captain's donut?"
"What? No. Why?"
"Because it's not there."
Chris blanked, his face looking more confused as he slowly stood up.
"What do you mean it's not there!?"
"I mean it's not there! It's not in the box!"
"What do you mean it's not in the box?! Of course it's in the box!"
"No!! Seriously! Look it's not here!"
A few of the other members perked their heads up at the conversation. Rebecca's eyes widen as she nudged me with her elbow. I flinched slightly at her nudging me and looked over at her confused before she pointed to the box of donuts. I turned my head to look over to see Chris and Brad looking confused at the box before they argued back and forth.
"Dude this isn't funny-"
"-what do you mean this isn't funny?! you think I did this!"
"How else will the donut not be there?!"
"I don't know what do you think- I magically planned to throw away the donut secretly to win the bet!"
"Well, it's not there!"
I got up from my desk and walked over to the two arguing with my hands in my pockets. "What's going on?" I asked as I looked over at the box before stopping in my tracks. Blinked a few times. Rubs my eyes. And blinked again.
". . . . The captain's donuts gone."
"The one you got him is gone!"
"We all put his donut in the same spot and it's gone!"
I said as Chris and Brad quickly looked over at me.
"No fucking way. . ."
Brad mumbled before Chris facepalm and let out a cry.
"Ahhh!! Man! I never gonna win any of these bets am I?!"
Some of the others just focused on their work as people slowly walked over to put their money in the jar as Rebecca walked around with it before placing it on my desk. I smiled nervously before holding my hands out.
"H-hold on now, we don't know if he was the one who took it."
Brad raised an eyebrow as he put his hands on his hips.
"What? We just look through his trash to find out?"
I gave him a side-eye. "You think he would let any of us do that?" He shrugged before he walked back to his desk. Chris turned to face me and pat my shoulder. "Well, if it does turn out to be true- congrats!"
I looked up at him before closing my eyes and smiling. "Too soon to celebrate Chris." I mumbled as he just pat my shoulder again. "Hey! You could have won! Think about it! Bragging rights!"
"Bragging right about having the captain eat the donut I got for him…?"
He smiled sheepishly as he nod. "Yeah- something like that!" I rolled my eyes and smiled. "Go back to work, Redfield. Actually wait- no- Go back to working on penmanship and making it readable." He looks slightly offended "Hey! My penmanship is readable!" "Yeah, for a chicken."
"Oh come on! Don't talk about Brad's handwriting like that."
""Hey!!" Brad shouted annoyed crossed the room before Enrico shhed him. Chris and I looked over at Brad. "Don't suppose you would be volunteering to look to see if the captain ate the donut?" "I don't have a death wish-wait!! Maybe you can do it! He won't kill you!" "And why would he not kill me?"
Bard shrugs. "Seems like you more- or. Tolerate you more than the rest of us?"
"Right, and this had nothing to do with you being the chicken of the team?"
Chris added as Brad glared over at him as he walked back to his own desk. Brad yelled at him as I made my way back to my own desk to work on finishing translating Chris's report to bring back to the captain. I was honestly surprised that he had to come out of his office he had to tell us all to be quiet. Maybe he was listening in? Who knows. I got both of the captain's paperwork translated and printed them out before I Enrico's back to him first before going over and knocking on the captain's door. I didn't hear a response right away before I heard a muffled. "Come in." Before nothing else was said. I opened the door and walked into the office before closing it behind me Wesker was hanging up a phone before he turned his head to look at me it was hard to tell exactly where he was looking with the sunglasses on. I walked over to his desk and placed the folder on it. "I had the papers redone that you requested of me, sir." The folder had both the original version and then the version I translated in it. Wesker didn't say anything as he leaned forward and grabbed the folder before opening it up and flipping the original paper over and started reading the translated one. I shifted around slightly as I waited for him to dismiss me. My eyes looked around the room before I remember what happened earlier and silently glanced down at his trash before quickly looking back up. Like I was about to be caught doing something I wasn't meant to do. There was a wrapper for the donuts and the trash. The captain actually took the donut and ate it.
I quickly looked down at my feet as my mind wandered. I actually won the bet. That was definitely something I didn't expect to happen today. I always thought someone like Jill would end up winning. At least with the money I can buy some more ammo for target practice, or other things. I thought of what other stuff I could use the money for before the snap of Wesker's fingers brought me back. I flinched as my eyes quickly looked back at him. Crap- how long was I staring at him.
"Were you listening to a word I said (L/N)."
He asked harshly, a slightly annoyed tone could be heard in his voice. I nervously looked at him. "Sorry, sir. . . I was. . . Wasn't paying attention, sir."
"I noticed."
He said coldly as he closed the folder and placed it on his desk.
"Am I to expect that you didn't hear my question as well, (L/N)."
"N-no sir. . ."
I mumbled as my eyes shifted to my feet. I heard him lean slightly forward in his chair, placing his elbows on his desk and resting his chin on his hands.
"I expect such nonsense from Redfield or Vickers (L/N). Am I clear."
"Y-yes sir."
He leaned back and folded his hands into his lap. Staring at me from behind his glasses.
"Do tell me what was so… Distracting to you, (L/N)."
"It was nothing sir- It won't happen again sir."
"Be sure that it doesn't. Or you will be punished next time. Is that understood (L/N)."
My brain immediately thought of the worst thing as I quickly close my eyes and shook my head slightly to get the…. ' Punishment ' thought out of my head. My face heating up a bit.
"Yes sir. Understood sir."
He passed for a moment watching me before he left his hands up and dismissed me. I quickly turn and left the room shutting the door behind me quickly as I felt my face growing redder as my brain decided to feel my head more of punishment ideas that I should not be thinking of at work. Or doing at all with my Captain. I slowly walked over to my desk as Rebecca looked over at me. "Are you okay? Your face is red?"
"Yeah! yeahyeah I'm fine. I'm fine. It's just hot in here."
She didn't seem convinced but she let it go. "So? Did you win?"
Oh yeah. People were going to ask about that. I didn't know exactly what to say so I slowly nod my head. "Yeah- I, surprisingly saw the wrapper in his trash with no donut in it."
Rebecca grinned as I heard other people in the room sigh. She got up and with a skip and her step, walked over the grab the jar of money and placed it back on my desk. "We have a winner, guys!~" She said proudly as she pointed to me. I shook my head and smiled as I heard some congratulate me and some just glade the dumb bet was over before looking down at my desk. I couldn't help but notice a red origami bird poking its head out from one of my desk drawers. I froze in my step, like a child knowing they were about to be caught doing something they weren't supposed to. Or a deer froze in headlights. I looked around nervously, seeing if anyone was watching me. To the normal eye, it was just an origami bird, but to me. I knew that it meant trouble. Trouble for me from my uncle. One of the few blood relatives I have left alive. But he would only contact me if I was in terrible danger. And for him to contact me out of the blue like this well, it wasn't adding up to just be a simple hello no, no. This was a courtesy call from him. He knew I walked away from both my mother and my others side of the family. Knew I wanted nothing to do with the "Family job". And he agreed to only contact if needed.
So slowly, I reached out and pulled the drawer out just enough to free the bird before moving a few of my books to my desk to hide them from view. Unfolding it slowly, it only had a few words written on it- but even so, those words sent a cold chill down my spine. As if I had just received a death threat or blackmail. This was much worse.
Не доверяй Вескеру. Which translated to, don't trust Wesker.
I stare down at the red piece of paper and confusion. I didn't talk to my uncle anything about my life now. I didn't even contact him. There was absolutely no way he knew I was working in the police force or at S.T.A.R.S. There was no way that Wesker was ba! The captain is a good person. He stood to the chief for me when he first had me for the interview. He saved my life and other S.T.A.R.S members lives on missions. He's a good leader! He's not someone to just not trust for no reason? I crumpled up the red piece of paper angrily before tossing it back into the bottom drawer of my desk and closing it shut. Thankfully Rebecca seemed too busy with her work to notice. I felt sick, I felt as if my stomach was trying to claw itself out of me. A sinking feeling filled me up like I was about to be scolded by my father. My vision started to shake, I remembered the last time I spoke to my father. It wasn't a good memory. It ended up with my uncle saving me from a burning building with no survivors but me. And me with a permanent scar on my upper arm of a bite mark. The night kept replaying in my mind constantly on a loop. As if I was reliving it over, and over, and over again. Blood. Blood, blood, blood, blood. So much blood. Screaming voices, crying voices, dead voices. The way the flame seems to engage the building, the way the flames seem to melt the flesh off of the dead bones. My mother desperately tried to pull me to safety. My dress got caught in some of the debris on the floor. I heard so much screaming. I hear so much screaming. It sounds so fresh in my mind- as if it just happened. My heart raced my heart beat in my ears. Blocking out any sounds of any of my concerned coworkers. My vision was shaky, and my breath quickened. I couldn't concentrate. I couldn't concentrate on anything else. As if the memory was consuming me entirely. It was a long before I started seeing black and I passed out. Somehow that didn't stop the memory from playing on a loop. It haunted me into my dreams.
💛🌻-
I don't know how long I was out for. I almost expected to wake up in bed, hoping the whole thing was a dream. But instead of a comfy bed, I felt as if I was lying down on a hard surface as my eyes slowly open. Everywhere around me was still blurry as I blinked a few times. Moving my hands to rub my eyes before I slowly open them again… Huh, that's odd. My bedroom looks like the captain's office.
𝚆𝚊𝚒𝚝 𝚊 𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚞𝚝𝚎 𝙸'𝚖 𝚒𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚌𝚊𝚙𝚝𝚊𝚒𝚗'𝚜 𝚘𝚏𝚏𝚒𝚌𝚎 𝚘𝚗 𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚍𝚎𝚜𝚔-
I quickly scrambled to sit up. Apparently, there was a jacket on me keeping me warm that fell off of me and onto the floor when I did that. Oh, 𝚏𝚞𝚌𝚔 that was the captain's jacket- I turned around and looked at the Captain's chairs expecting him to be sitting there staring at me only to find it empty his office door was open slightly. I heard voices outside of it. Sounded like the captain was talking to Rebecca and Kenneth.
"We're still not sure what triggered it, sir."
"She was just sitting next to me working and the next thing I know- she collapses."
I slowly managed to get off of the captain's desk and pick up his jacket that was on the ground. Walking over to his coat hanger and hanging it back up before listening in.
"No one saw anything that could have triggered it?"
"No sir we were all working."
I tried my best without being seen to lean in to hear more when the door suddenly was pushed open. I stumbled back and fell to the ground before Wesker's shadow loomed over me. Wesker was looking down at me as Rebecca and Kenneth looked over his shoulder.
"(Y/N) you're awake!"
Rebecca said as I slowly pushed myself up off the floor. Wesker never took his eyes off of me. "How are you feeling? what happened!?" Rebecca asked if she frantically pushed him aside and started looking me over. Kenneth stood next to Wesker who still hadn't taken his eyes off of me. "I'm okay! Really! I just took a little nap."
"A little nap- (Y/N) you passed out!? You fell out of your chair and hit the floor!"
"I'm a… Heavy sleeper?"
No one in the room believes me. Rebecca grew more worried. Kenneth raises an eyebrow….. And Wesker… Never took his eyes off of me. Not for a single moment. Rebecca puffed her cheeks out slightly before she put her hands on her hips. "I'm forcing you to stay home for a few days." "Wha- No Rebecca I'm fine! It was just a small nap!" "Collapsing onto the floor and hitting your head is not a small nap." Kenneth added as Wesker was silent. He finally said something as everyone looked over at him.
"(Y/N). You are being ordered to stay at your house for the next 3 to 4 days. Resting."
"S-sir honestly! I-I'm fine- it was just-"
"-𝐈𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭. 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫."
It was almost as if the air in the room grew cold. His voice is cold as ice that shivers down my spine and body as I stared up at him. Almost as if he was talking to me only in his office. Using a voice that should have been used only when you were alone with him. Almost as if Kenneth and Rebecca weren't in there and his mind. But just him and me. Rebecca opened her mouth to say something but Kenneth gently grabbed her hand and let her out of the office. Closing the door behind him. Leaving me and the captain truly alone now. I stared up at him as he slowly approached me. The sound of his footsteps walking toward me filled the room as I walked back. Stopping with my back hit his desk
"I thought I ordered you. The last time we were like this. To rest. Is that not what happened."
He said coldly as my body shivered. He walked up to me placing both of his arms on his desk and pinning me to the middle. Leaning slightly closer to me. To the point where I can see his eyes through the dark reflection of his glasses. He was staring directly into mine not looking anywhere else but at me. I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out. He slowly pulled his arms off his desk and leaned back. Taking a step back and reaching over the grab his coat that I hung back up.
"Grab your things. We're leaving."
He said slowly as I quickly nod my head. Looked at the ground as I made my way out of his office and to my desk, grabbing my things. He exited his office right after me with his coat on and keys in hand as he locked his office doors. Saying nothing at all. I didn't say anything as I quickly walked up to him as he walked out of the S.T.A.R.S office, with me quickly following behind him. Everything seemed like a blur as we walked down the hallway. Towards the end of the hall where I normally would go down the steps to sign out. He strongly grabbed my hand and took me away from the steps and took me to the parking garage, not letting me go sign out. And not saying a single word at all. My face immediately grew red as he pulled me to his car forcefully. I'd never seen him like this. No one has seen him like this and I just don't know 𝚠𝚑𝚢 I'm seeing him like this. Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining. This was definitely something but still, he walked over to my side of the car and open the door for me. I slowly got in and sat down. Buckling up as he closed the door behind me, walked over back to his side of the car, and got in closing the door. It was silent. He didn't even turn on the car radio after he turned the car on. He immediately put the car in reverse and looked back as he was pulling the car out of the parking lot.
I blanked in the next thing I knew he put the car parked by some buildings. I looked around confused before I turned my head about to ask him what was going on when I was silenced by him kissing me. My whole body jumped my mouth opened up in surprise as I felt him shoving his tongue forcefully into my mouth. I only could let out muffle sounds as he leaned in more. Kissing me deeper as he moved to place one hand on the glass window, and another lifting up my chin. Letting out a deep growl as a hungry kiss me. I didn't know what was going on I felt my eyes flutter closed as I started kissing him back. His tongue was hungry pushing against mine. fighting for dominance in my mouth. He moved his hands, but he didn't take his mouth off of mine as he started undoing the buttons on his jacket before taking it off, rolling the jacket off of his shoulders. He started to immediately unbutton his work shirt quickly as he pulled his lips off of mine for a second. A heavy strand of saliva connecting both of our lips dangled off for a moment before he quickly moved back in and kiss me again. My eyes immediately closed again as we made out. His hands now move to my own shirt and start to unbutton it. Getting the buttons undone and rolling it off of my shoulders. His hands slowly made their way behind my back to my bra strap. Snapping it before pulling my bra off of me. He broke the kiss and started kissing my jaw, then my lower ear, and all over my neck. Kissing, sucking, biting it. killing and nibbling all around my neck before moving right next to my jawline on my neck and biting down hard. I felt some blood roll down my next as he broke skin. He was sticking on it, biting it, nibbling on it. Eating the spot before he slowly pulled back. His warm breath on my neck drove me crazy. I was panting as I felt one of his hands slowly move lower to my crotch, starting to rub over my clothing. I leaned my head back and moaned into his neck. Barring my face into his neck as he moved his fing-
𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐄𝐄𝐄𝐄𝐄𝐄𝐄𝐏!!!!
My eyes widen as my body jumps to the sound of a car horn beeping loudly. I quickly set up and looked around. I was in Wesker's car. Fully dress as Wesker was driving. Also fully dressed and currently beeping the car horn loudly as the car in front of us was apparently not paying attention and almost hit us. One of his arms was reached out in front of me keeping me from slamming my head into the dash. I blinked as I felt my heart racing in my throat, my face quickly grew red. Was all that a fucking dream? 𝚃𝚑𝚊𝚝'𝚜 what my brain decides to dream about after having a panic attack. My captain fucking me and his car!? Wesker snarled, grumbling something directed to the driver of the car that almost hit us with a glare on his face. I blinked as I looked over at him as he slowly pulled his arm back from in front of me and place it back on the steering wheel. He didn't look over me as he started driving again. I slowly moved back into the seat as I turned my head and looked at my feet. I don't know how much that was a dream. Or if the whole thing was a dream. It didn't feel like a dream, to begin with, but I thought about it and it was probably… A dream the whole time. Which means he carried me all the way to his car and was now driving me back to my apartment. That thought did not help my face from turning even redder.
"𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈…"
I flinch when I heard him finally speak. That familiar ice tone for my dream come back. It made my body shiver.

You know the sinking feeling you get at the bottom of your stomach when you need to do something you really, really don't want to? Where your mind is racing to find a good reason to not do that and to come up with any excuse that it can make up to avoid doing that one task? Yeh, that feeling. That was the feeling that going on in me right now as I watched Wesker walk into his office after calling me in. I know I was in some form of trouble- and there was no excuse I could make up to not go into that office. Jill and Barry stepped aside as I pushed my chair back and stood up. Rebecca gave me a good luck pap on the back as I walked over to Wesker's office and gently grabbed the door handle. Before going in I looked back at everyone and gave them a fake smile before going into his office.
" Close the door. "
He said as he closed a file on his desk and moved it over by his computer. I slowly closed the door behind me. Sealing off my only way of escaping. We both could hear from behind the closed door the other going back to their desk and starting to work. Normally Chirs would play some of his music but not this time. Someone was probably trying to listen in to what Wesker had to say to me. Wesker lifted his head up slightly and looked over at me as I slowly pulled out a chair and sat down. We heard a soft "oW" coming from behind the door and yep- it was Chris. I hear someone walk to the door and grab him, dragging him back to his seat. I assumed it was probably Barry, with him being a father of two girls. I think he understands what privacy means more than the others. Wesker let out a sigh as he lowered his head slightly and then raised it back up again as he tried to start the conversation again. Only this time to have the office door slammed open and an inaudible annoyed growl could be heard from him. It was soft so only people in the room with him to hear it but I definitely heard it and- 𝚘𝚑 𝚋𝚘𝚢. Heavy footsteps could be heard approaching the door as it opened to reveal the Chief. He looked annoyed but we were all more annoyed with him being here. He walked into the offers and looked at me, then at Wesker.
" (L/N). You as excused. "
Wesker said as I slowly looked back at him. He seemed really annoyed that the Chief interrupted what he was going to speak to me about. But his face didn't show it. It didn't need to for me to tell that he did not like the Chief being here. I nod as I slowly stood up and pushed in my chair.
" Yes Captain. "
I said as I turn to walk past the Chief, my eyes looking down at the floor as I walked over to the door and closed it behind me. I closed my eyes and let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding in. I looked over at the rest of the S.T.A.R.S team and they were all at their desk. Chris and Rebecca quickly saw that I had survived my encounter. I could hear the Chief going off on Wesker as I started to slowly make my way over to my desk. Rebecca moved back so I could get past her and sit down. She gave me a soft smile and Chris immediately walked over to my desk.
" So? What happen? "
" Um, well noting. He was interrupted by both you and the Chief before he could talk to me. "
Chris seemed to jump when he heard that both Wesker and I both knew he was trying to listen in on our talk. I could hear Jill letting out an annoyed sigh as Barry shook his head. Everyone in the room could hear the Chief's voice, even over the computer sounds. Most people quickly went to find something to do so that when the conversation was done, the captain wouldn't give them even more harder work to do. I turned my chair to face my computer to start working on my own work. But I couldn't stop looking over at the captain's office worried for some reason. I kept thinking about yesterday morning when was called in early for that meeting with the chief. and how upset he was when he came storming into the S.T.A.R.S office. It just made me want to know exactly what they were talking about. And what he wanted this time to. Maybe had something to do with the charity Ball but I wasn't too sure about that. But I doubt the something the Chief would bother bringing up to the captain again. And with my desk being the furthest corner away. I couldn't exactly hear what they were speaking. Jill and Barry's desk were the closest to the office but they knew better than to eavesdrop. I doubt either would be paying attention to what was being said, I would ask Chris but I already know he's going to get in trouble and do laps for eavesdropping in the first place. Granted if I was caught eavesdropping as well I would be joining him to do push-ups and laps until we collapse. Which wasn't something I wanted to do with how little sleep I got last night. That bloody storm didn't stop till about 12 in the morning. It's set to start back up in about an hour or so again too. So it would be running and doing push-ups in the rain. Not something I did not want to do today. I noticed Rebecca writing something on a piece of paper and sliding it over to me out of the corner of my eye. I picked up a piece of paper and looked at it,

I turn my head and smiled at her as a mouth the words thank you as I start to get up. I wasn't the biggest coffee drinker but coffee did sound good right now. I quietly made my way past the others desk as I grabbed a napkin and pick that a donut. I poured myself a cup of coffee and then carry the donut and coffee back to my desk. I waited on taking a sip of the coffee because I knew it was still going to be hot, in the meantime I took a bite out of the donuts. People on the team took turns buying coffee and donuts for everyone. Even Wesker did it at one point. Everyone knew what everyone's favorite donut was so people tend to pick up donuts for everyone specifically. Well, everyone's favorite but the captains. It almost became a little game to see who could figure out which donut he liked first. Every time someone bought him a donut he left it in the box and didn't take it. One time we all thought Rebecca got it right but he ended up not taking it and just take a coffee. At this point, people started placing bets on who would actually get it right. A jar on the back desk labeled donut bets is where people would put their bets in. Some of the workers thought that he wasn't eating any of the donuts because he did not want to or that it was all pointless. But a few of us have seen him staring at the money jar in the back of the room so we know that he is aware of what's going on. It would be funny if he's just waiting for his turn to come back to buy a doughnut that he likes and get all the money for himself. I honestly wish that was the case just to see everyone's reactions. Would definitely be a smart move on his behalf. Plus it kind of seems like something he would do. With today being Rebecca's turn that means tomorrow is mine. I'll get everyone their favorites and then I'll probably grab a bear claw for him. it's one that hasn't been tried yet so might as well try it. Everyone's thoughts were interrupted when the chief slammed open Westers office door and stormed out of the S.T.A.R.S office. Everyone watched him leave before going back to their work. A few of them mumbling insults about the captain under their breath, no one here liked the chief. No one at all. He had a bad temper and just everything about him just screams trouble. I never really trust him to be honest. Sure, I might have had my first interview with him and he immediately said no when he found out I was Russian. But that wasn't his decision to make, it was Wesker's and he said yes I don't remember much of the initial interview, I remember walking intending both him and Wesker a copy of my resume. Then at the moment that they reached my nationality. He slammed it shut and threw it in the trash. I don't remember if he left or not but a remember Wesker kept asking me questions. He also asked me to demonstrate my sniping skills and I might have tried too hard to impress him. You couldn't really blame me though. I was never into men in uniforms but then I saw him and well.... Yeah. I kind of showed off. Not like it was a bad thing. I had military experience in my background and I served as well. I learned how to do a lot of things but sniping came easily to me. My lieutenant even started calling me Hawkeye. Even though I didn't use a bow and arrow which apparently the comic book character uses? Then my first few days came by and I learned a lot about the rest of my teammates. And I grew to learn right away that Wesker hated having his door left open. I didn't see anyone else jumping up and racing to close it for him, and with the talks with the chief always septum in a sour mood. I figured I might as well try offering to close it for him if he didn't bite my head off that is. Rebecca looked over as she was filling out some Med reports as I stood up for my desk. She looked confused but I gave her a smile as a sneaked past her. The room almost went eerily quiet as I got close to the door before people went back to work. I knocked on the door frame as it looked into his office.
" Captain Wesker sir? "
In one of his hands he held onto his glasses as his other pinched bridge between his eyes. The conversation with the chief definitely left me in a bad mood. He looked up slightly and glared at me before his eyes softened just the smallest bit realizing it was me.
" Rebecca brought coffee and donuts in today. Would you like me to close your door for you? "
He didn't say anything as he leaned back into his chair and put his glasses back over his eye, breathing softly as I lost the ability to tell if its eyes are open or closed.
" Sorry, you had to deal with the Chiefs so early today sir. No one here really likes him. "
" No one here likes him at all, (L/N). "
He grumbled as he looked at me. Appearing as if he was debating on saying something again.
" If you do close my door I would appreciate it (L/N). "
he asked me as I nod my head to reply as I grabbed the door handle and softly close the door for him. I looked over back at Rebecca as she gave me her classic thumbs up. In situations like these, he seemed to be less harsh on me and her which would often have people asking us to ask things for them. In case the captain would flat-out say no to that. I gave her a thumbs-up back as I made my way back over to my desk.
" How did it go? "
" The chief was definitely annoying but he doesn't seem mad. More annoyed. "
She let out a nervous chuckle.
" Well, that's good news. Maybe he'll go easy on Chris today then. "
I shrugged, it was hard to tell what the captain was going to do. He wasn't exactly the easiest person to read like Chris or Barry. Rebecca took a bite out of her donut before she went back to filling out her papers.
" Did you hear that someone did Jill and Barry's assignment for them? "
" Ugh- is it already going around? "
" Well at first we thought someone else came in and did it, but then they saw that they were all organized correctly and following instructions so we automatically knew it was you. "
" Is that really what gave me away?! Just following the proper protocol to put that stuff away? "
" Well everyone does it correctly- you just do it extremely by the book. Not that that's a bad thing at all! It was easy to scratch Chris and Bard as suspects. Jill almost thought Wesker did it himself. But then he said he didn't do it as he passed by. "
" Look- you can't blame me it was bothering you too! "
" I know but- isn't this like the second time you've done something like that? The captain's talks don't get any lighter. "
" 4th and he let me off the hook considering that it was also bothering him extremely. "
Rebecca took another bite of her donut as she went back to her papers.
" But... If you don't mind me asking (Y/N), why did you have that reaction when I told you about the charity ball? "
Crap. I thought we were past that? I guess not considering how I slammed my face into my desk.
" Oh, that. I don't have exactly good memories with balls or charity balls. "
" Really? Have you been to some before? "
I didn't reply right away as I looked around the room to see who was listening. We were in the back and talking quietly so the paint no one was. I didn't risk it and took the piece of paper she handed me earlier and flipped it over and write a response.
' My parents are both stupidly rich so I had to attend a few of them when I was younger and I did not like it. '
I feel like a schoolgirl handing back notes as I passed it back to Rebecca. She read it as her eyes widened and she looked back at me mouthing ' really!!? '. I nod my head silly as I took the note back and crumple it up tossing it into my desk.
" it's why I'm not at all excited to attend this one invited looks of it. I have to. "
" The chief did say all S.T.A.R.S are required to go. "
I looked annoyed as I reached out and grabbed my coffee and took a sip. Of course, we were. Why would I expect anything less from my wonderful chief?
" Anything else about this charity ball I should know about. "
" Girls in dresses and men in suits. "
" So now he's just taking the fun out of it? "
" Don't tell me you were thinking of wearing a suit to this? "
" ..... You think I own a dress? "
" Oh come on! You have to own at least one dress, right? "
" . . . . . "
" . . . . . "
" . . . . . "
" . . . . . "
" . . . . . "
" Right? "
" . . . . 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘦…. "
I stopped talking and quickly looked over at the Captain's door as he opened it. He walked over to where the coffee and donuts were and got a cup of coffee. Everyone was trying to pretend they were busy doing something but all eyes are on him. He looks down at the remaining donuts and pauses for a minute before not taking any of the donuts and taking his coffee back to his office closing his door behind him. Rebecca let out of sigh of disappointment and lean back in her chair.
" Aw! I was sure he would like this one! "
I gave her a reassuring pat on the back. " There's always next time. "
I said as people got up and walked over to the jar and put their money in it. Only a few people thought Rebecca would get it this time but still, the jar was getting full.
" Maybe you'll get it tomorrow. "
She said as she stood up and brought her own papers to Weaker before coming back to her desk.
" I doubt it, honestly if I win I would just use that to buy treats for everyone. Or buy more ammo since that's always costing an arm and a leg it seems. "
She took a sip of her own coffee and smiled at me.
" You and Jill still having that competition then huh? "
" I have a reputation to hold as Alpha's team sniper. And I go through a lot of rounds when I go to the gun range with her. "
" Ever thought about asking the captain to go shooting with you? "
"He always says no and people ask him to go do stuff outside of work. I don't think I could get a shot. "
I said as she shrugged her shoulders and hummed.
" You'll never know if you don't try. It could work out. "
I couldn't help a chuckle softly at that comment. The rest of the day went by without any fuss. The chief didn't come back in at all so that was nice. But by the time I shift is done the rain had already begun. As I was reaching for my coat to put it on I heard someone approaching my desk. I looked up to see that it was Wesker with his own coat and his hand again. I blinked before I gave him a small smile and said softly.
" Captain sir- it's okay. I don't mind walking home in the- "
B O O M
A loud crash of thunder made me jump out of my skin again. I could have been seeing things, but I could have sworn I saw a small smirk on his face when I jumped.
" . . . . R-rain. "
Rebecca looked over at as talking and quickly pointed to me.
" No- if he's offering you a ride you take it!! You shouldn't be walking home in this weather you'll get sick again! "
By now it was just her, me, and Wesker left in the room. So was grateful that no one else heard that Captain Wesker was offering to drive me home. Because I don't think I would ever hear the end of it from Chris and Jill. Chris would just make fun of it. Jill however is a fellow woman and knew that I had a small crush on the captain. so I would get teased about it in different ways. I'm sure by this point Rebecca knew too but she was nice enough to not tease me about it. At this point, I knew there was no way of getting out of it so I side and finish putting on my coat.
" Alright, alright! But you can't keep offering this! "
" Then you. Can't keep offering to walk home in the rain. Little mouse. "
Both Rebecca and I look surprised for a moment. I never heard him use the nickname that Chris gave me before. Not that there's anything wrong with that at all!! It's just.... The way it sounds with his voice. That little purr that always seems to be there in his voice. It almost feels like a velvety feeling.
" Um- y-yes sir. "
I mumbled softly. 𝙵𝚞𝚌𝚔. Why did he have to have such a stupidly hot voice? Wesker turn and made his way towards the door getting his own jacket on. I glanced back at Rebecca who gave me two thumbs up and mother. ' Go for it!! '. I rolled my eyes as I tossed my bag over my shoulder and made my way to stand next to Wesker. Rebecca waved goodbye as we both left the office and Wesker closed the door behind us. This time I had a better understanding of where we were heading so I wasn't as lost. I still didn't walk directly beside him just a ittle bit behind him. I decided to try to make some small talk as we walk down to the garage.
" So, no again on the donuts? "
I asked. Getting a small chuckle out of him.
" At this point, the sighs of disappointment and seeing people put more money into that jars is more entertaining than the actual bet. Besides, more of everyone's guesses are beginning to be predictable. "
He said as our footsteps echoed down the quiet hallway.
" Really? Too predictable? "
He chuckled as he turned his head and looked at me as we walked.
" Would you like me to explain? "
" Please- good sir. The floor is yours. "
I said as I did a slight bow, making him chuckle again.
" Redfield always picks out random ones, but they're all ones that he has done before. Valentine has been going through different types of "categories" to see is there is one I prefer. Burton has been going back and forth between the ones that are filled and not. Rebecca as been picking out different ones with sprinkles on them. And you.... "
He said with a pause as he looked at me stopping in his tracks for just a moment before continuing.
" Always surprise me, Little mouse. "
He said as he carried on. His comment made me pause in my steps as he continued on. It should be illegal for that man to have such a 𝙵𝚞𝚌𝚔𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚑𝚘𝚝 𝚟𝚘𝚒𝚌𝚎. I regained my thought quickly and quickly move the catch up with him.
" What do you mean by I always surprise you? "
" You always pick out interesting ones. "
He said as we both made our way to the main entryway. I waved at Mister Roberts before turning and looking at Wesker.
" did you sign in today? "
I asked. He stopped in his tracks and looked at me as if trying to figure out if I was serious or not. I looked up at him and tilted my head a bit. Trying to signal him that he should sign in if he didn't. Of course, he just walked over and grab the same set of keys as yesterday and walked over to the garage gate. I let out a sigh as I rolled my eyes and quickly walked with him, one of these days I will get him to sign in. Mark my words! He walked over to the same car as he did before and unlock the doors. I walked around to the passenger side and got in. Taking off my bag and buckling my seatbelt as he got into the car as well. The same thing happened again as yesterday he turned on the car, headlights, and the radio before putting the car in reverse. The radio chatter went off right away but it wasn't as much as yesterday morning. Now if I were partner up with Chris at the moment he would pick up the radio and say offly quiet, isn't it? To which as soon as we would get done with our Patrol. He would get whacked in the head by everyone. Even Wesker would look annoyed at him. Wesker took off remembering the path that he took yesterday to my apartment. The rain wasn't as heavy as yesterday but the Thunder was worse. Every time I saw a bit of lightning I close my eyes tightly preparing for the thunder. Wesker glanced over at me and saw that as he look back at the road.
" Little mouse. "
he said as I jumped slightly and looked over at him
" Ah- yes sir? "
" What does the 10 code for 10-23 mean. "
He said as he stopped the car at a red light.
" Um- Arrived at Scene sir? "
" Very good little mouse. Now, what about 10-30. "
" A-ah- Unnecessary Use of Radio sir. "
" 10-41. "
" Beginning Tour of Duty sir. "
" 10-11. "
He keep going as he drove. The thunder grew louder but for some reason, I couldn't hear it.
" Dog Case. "
" 10-6. "
"Um- Busy or Unless Urgent. "
" 10-26. "
" Detaining Subject- ... Captain why did you- oh."
I was about to ask why he stopped talking to me when I realized we were at my apartment. I quickly grew flustered as I tried to open the door so I wouldn't be taking any more of his time.
" Miss Chambers has told me how you handle storms. She also told me how you find my voice calming. "
He said as I froze and slowly looked at him.
" I-I'm so sorry si- "
" You're fine Mouse. It seems Miss Chambers was right about you finding my voice calming. The sounds of thunder was heard about seven times as I drove you home but you seem to not acknowledge any of it. "
" What? But I didn't hear it a single time but that one time? "
" Then Miss Chambers's theory was correct. "
He said as my face grew red as I stepped out of the car.
" (Y/N). "
He said before I close the door. I paused, turning to look at him.
" I do not turn off my work phone during the night. If you are in need of my... "calming voice." again with the storm. You're free to call it. "
He said as my face seemed to grow redder as I nod my head.
" Th-thank you sir... "
I mumbled before closing the door and backing away. Watching him reply to something on the radio before pulling out and driving away from the apartments. Walking into the apartment and up to my room was all a blur. The next thing I knew I was crashing into my bed. My heart was pounding so loud I could hear it in my ears.

As I was getting ready for the mission. I didn't know what was going on. Or what my uncle was planning. There was a good reason why I didn't speak to him for some time. I started my checks to make sure that my rifle was fully loaded. There was a nervous look on my face. I knew this mission was going to be dangerous, but I couldn't help but worry that my uncle was the one that caused the hostage situation to begin with. All to get my attention. I wouldn't put it past him to do something like that. "Mouse," Wesker called out, his voice calm and controlled. "Is there something troubling you? You seem…Unsettled."
I jumped slightly, startled at the sound of my name, looking over from my rifles to him. Quickly composing myself before responding. " it's nothing, Captain Wesker." I said as I tried to have my voice sound confident. "Just a bit on edge, you know. These missions can be quite intense." I said as I looked back down at my rifle. Wesker raised an eyebrow at my response.
Captain Wesker's icy blue eyes narrowed ever so slightly as he observed me. He had a knack for reading people, and my attempt to mask my worry was not lost on him. "Intense, indeed," he replied, his voice tinged with a hint of curiosity. He leaned forward, resting his forearms on the desk and interlacing his fingers. "But let's not play games, mouse. We've worked together long enough for me to detect when something is amiss. Tell me, what's truly bothering you?" I hesitated for a moment, considering how much to reveal to Wesker. I frown before shaking my head. "It's nothing, sir."
Captain Wesker studied me for a moment, his gaze piercing through my facade. He could see through my attempt to hide my concerns, and he wasn't one to be easily satisfied with vague answers. He leaned back in his chair, assessing my reaction. "Truly, it's nothing, sir. Just things in my personal life. That's all." Wesker's eyes narrowed further, his intuition telling him there was more to my statement than met the eye. He leaned forward again, his voice low and controlled. "Mouse, as your superior officer, I need to ensure that your personal life doesn't interfere with your ability to perform your duties." I swallowed nervously, realizing that Wesker's persistence would not allow me to brush off the matter so easily. 'I promise sir, it won't interfere with the mission on my duties." I said my hands were placed on my weapon. Wesker leans forward a bit, his fingers absently tapping against the surface of the desk. "Very well, mouse," he says, his voice holding an undercurrent of sincerity. "I expect you to uphold your word." I nod as I looked up at him. He took his hands off my desk and walked away. Most likely to get himself ready. Chris glanced over my way and nudged me gently. "You sure you're ok?" I gave him a small nod. "Yeah. I'm fine." his gaze lingered for just a second before nodding as he left to finish getting his things ready. Chris looked up as he finished lacing his combat boots when he heard the voice of Captain Wesker talking to Jill about something. I stood next to him as he finished getting ready. "Hey mouse, how about after this we go out." I raised my eyebrow as I looked over at him. "Sister driving you up the walls already? Claire's only been back in town for a few days." Chris chuckled.
I couldn't help but smile at Chris's attempt to lighten the mood. His presence was always comforting, and his knack for humor never failed to bring a smile to my face. "Nah, it's not Claire. She's actually been on her best behavior lately," he replied as he stood up. "Well… Going out sounds like a good idea. Some time to unwind after this mission would be much needed." Chris grinned, his blue eyes sparkling with mischief. "Great, sounds like a plan." he said, his tone teasing. I laughed softly, feeling a warmth spread through me at his words. "Sure, just don't expect me to wear a fancy dress or anything," I replied, playfully nudging him. Chris chuckled, his voice filled with genuine warmth. "Nah, just come as you are. It's your presence that matters, not what you're wearing." I noticed him selling a glance at Jill as she was getting ready to go, grabbing something from her desk. My smirk grew as I crossed my arms over my chest. "You know… Why not ask Jill?" my smirk widen just a bit as I saw Chris freeze in place for just a moment. He closed his eye and shook his head. "Come on, you haven't even asked her!" Chris's cheeks turned slightly pink, and he scratched the back of his head nervously. "Well, you see… Jill and I, we have a different kind of relationship," he stammered, clearly flustered by the suggestion. "I mean, she's a great friend and all, but… It's complicated." I couldn't help but tease him a little, a mischievous glint in my eyes. "Oh, I see. Complicated, huh? Well, maybe you should figure it out soon before someone else sweeps her off her feet." I raised an eyebrow playfully, knowing full well that my words were only in jest. Chris let out a laugh, shaking his head. "Trust me, mouse, no one's sweeping her off her feet. She can handle herself just fine." he paused for a moment, his expression turning more serious. "But thanks for looking out for me." I smiled softly, a warmth filling my chest at his words.
"You're welcome, Chris," I replied, my voice tinged with sincerity. "You're my friend, and I'll always be there for you." I glanced over at him, a softness in my eyes. "Just like you're always there for me." Chris smiled, his blue eyes reflecting gratitude. "That's what friends are for, right?" he replied, his voice filled with genuine warmth. "We've been through a lot together, mouse, and I know I can always rely on you." I smiled with a playful smirk. "Well, don't get too used to it. I can't have you thinking I'm softening up." Chris chuckled, his smile widening. "Wouldn't want that, would we?" he replied, his voice light-hearted. "No, the captain would kick my ass." we chuckled before looking over at the other getting ready. Barry walked over to us with his arms in his pockets. "You two ready to go?" I nod as I looked over at Chris who also nods. "Yeah, think so. Any updates on the mission?" Barry shifted in place as he put his hands at his side. "It's still a hostage situation, but the person hasn't been seen or asked for anything in return." Uncle… I nod trying to mask my worries. "Well, let's go find the captain so we can take care of it." "Actually, the captain told me that you're riding with him. There was a slight panic look on my face as well as a light blush. "I-I can drive myself!" "Sorry, he wants us to team up. Jill's going with Chris, I'm with Brad, and you're with Wesker."
My heart skipped a beat at the mention of riding with Captain Wesker. The room suddenly felt smaller, and I struggled to keep my composure. "Oh… I see," I replied, my voice slightly strained. "Well, if that's the case, then I suppose I have no choice but to ride with him." I couldn't help but wonder if this was some sort of deliberate arrangement, meticulously orchestrated by captain Wesker himself. The thought made me even more nervous. As Chris and Barry exchanged knowing glances, I caught a hint of mischief in Chris's eyes. "Don't worry, mouse," Chris said with a teasing smile. "I'm sure you and the captain will have a great time together." suppressing the urge to roll my eyes at his comment, I mustered up a small smile. "I'm sure we will." I exchanged a brief nod with Jill, who had overheard the conversation. She shot me an encouraging smile before turning her attention back to Chris. It seemed that everyone was in on the joke, except for Wesker himself. I took a deep breath, attempting to steady my racing heart as captain Wesker re-entered the room. His icy blue eyes met mine briefly, and for a moment, a flicker of something unreadable passed through his gaze. Or was it just my imagination?
Captain Wesker approached us, his voice calm and composed. "Mouse. We'll be heading out shortly. I trust you're ready?" his tone held a hint of challenge as if assessing whether I was up to the task. I straightened myself, doing my best to project confidence. "Yes, captain. I'm ready," I replied, my voice steady. He nodded, acknowledging my response, and turned to leave the room without saying another word. I caught Chris's eye as he mouthed the words "Good luck" to me, and I couldn't help but feel a mixture of anticipation and trepidation as I followed Captain Wesker out of the office. Everyone else followed us as we headed to the parking lot. I followed Wekser to his car as Chris and Jill got into theirs, and Barry and Brad got into theirs. The silence between captain wesker and me was palpable as we made our way to his car. The tension in the air was thick, and I struggled to find something to say to break the ice. It was as if every word carried a weight, and I didn't want to say anything that might reveal that my own uncle was the one behind this… Just to get my attention. I carefully avoided making eye contact, fearing that my disguised emotions might give me away.
Captain Wesker opened the car door, and I got in, settling into the passenger seat. Wesker walked around and got in on the driver's side. Putting the keys into the car. The engine purred to life, and as we pulled out of the parking lot, the others filled behind him. As soon as he left the rpd's garage. The rain immediately started hitting the car. The patter of rain on the roof of the car filled the silence between Captain Wesker and me. The rhythmic sound served as a constant reminder of the volatile situation we were heading into. The atmosphere inside the vehicle grew even more tense as drops of rain streaked across the windshield, reducing visibility. I couldn't help but steal a quick glance at him. His sharp features were highlighted by the dim dashboard lights, casting shadows upon his face. The flickering highway lights outside reflected on his sunglasses, shielding his eyes from view. I wondered what he was thinking, what secrets lay behind those enigmatic blue orbs. Wesker expertly maneuvered the car through the rain-soaked streets, his focus unwavering. The sound of static filled the air as he tuned the radio to the frequency used by s.T.A.R.S., ensuring that we would be connected with the team throughout the mission. The crackling voices of our comrades filled the cabin, the urgency in their tone a stark reminder of the gravity of the situation.
I glanced at Wesker, his strong profile illuminated by the dim glow of the dashboard lights. The rainwater trickled down the windows, casting a distorted reflection of his determined expression. There was something mesmerizing about him, the way he exuded confidence even in the face of danger. Trying to distract myself from the whirlwind of emotions I was experiencing, I reached for the radio microphone, my voice steady as I responded to our team. "This is Mouse. We're en route to the location. Eta: 10 minutes," I relayed, my voice carrying a hint of tension. A brief pause followed before Brad's voice crackled through the speakers. "Copy that, mouse. Be careful out there. The situation seems more complicated than we initially thought." I bit my lip, the weight of the situation weighing heavily on me. "Roger that," I replied, my voice determined. "We'll proceed with caution." beside me, Captain Wesker remained silent, his focus solely on the road ahead. The rain intensified, pounding against the car and testing the limits of the wipers. The bleakness of the weather seemed to mirror the increasing unease I felt deep within. As we navigated through the slick streets, it was as if the rain itself was a reflection of the impending danger lurking in the shadows. I gripped the edge of my seat, my knuckles turning white, trying to steady my nerves. What would my uncle do if I showed up too late? It wasn't past him to kill people to prove a point. He may seem like an old man, but he was strong. Knew how to fight. And worse. Knew almost every day to kill.
Before I could dwell too deeply on those thoughts, the crackling of the radio interrupted the silence. Chris's voice came through, laced with urgency. "Mouse, Wesker, we just received new information," Chris relayed, his voice tinged with concern. "The hostage-taker's demands have escalated. We need to act quickly." my heart skipped a beat, the gravity of the situation sinking in. This mission was about to become even more dangerous, even more unpredictable. I glanced at Captain Wesker, expecting to see a flicker of emotion in his eyes, a sign that he too understood the weight of the task ahead. Instead, his gaze remained fixed on the road, his expression detached. It was as if nothing could penetrate that armor of his, as if he were impervious to the emotions that boiled within the rest of us. I tightened my grip on the radio microphone, my voice determined as I responded. "Understood, Chris. We'll proceed with caution and execute the necessary protocol." the storm outside raged on, the rain drumming against the windows like a relentless symphony. The world around us was drenched in uncertainty, each passing second bringing us closer to a precipice from which there might be no return. The weight of the situation settled heavily on my shoulders, the gravity of the mission sinking deeper with each passing moment. I knew that time was of the essence, and that every decision we made could have dire consequences. Yet, as much as I tried to push away the nagging doubts and fears, they lingered in the recesses of my mind.
Captain Wesker's stoicism, while admirable in its own right, only added to my unsettled state. I yearned for a sign that he felt the weight of the situation too, that he understood the risks we faced. But his impassive expression provided no solace, leaving me to confront my fears alone. I heard Brad's voice through the radio again. "Barry and I are at the scene. Waiting for you guys." I nod as I held the radio microphone up again "Are ets: 3 minutes." then Chris replied. "Jill and I are here as well." my heart raced as I listened to the updates coming through the radio. The realization that our team was already at the scene, waiting for us, only heightened the sense of urgency. Every passing second felt like an eternity, and I found myself longing for the comforting presence of my teammates. Captain Wesker's expression remained unchanged, his focus unwavering. It was disconcerting, to say the least, to witness such unwavering composure in the face of imminent danger. Did he truly understand the gravity of the situation, or was he simply immune to the fear that gripped the rest of us? I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves as we approached the location. The rain continued to cascade down, almost as if nature itself was adding to the tension that filled the air. The shadows cast by the streetlights danced on the wet pavement, painting an eerie backdrop to the impending confrontation. I glanced at captain wesker, our eyes briefly meeting before he returned his attention to the road. There was a hint of something in his gaze, something that almost resembled resolve. Perhaps, deep down, he knew the risks we faced, even if he didn't show it.
As we pulled up near the scene, the atmosphere grew increasingly tense. Flashing police lights illuminated the area, casting an eerie glow on the surrounding buildings. I could see the figures of my teammates in the distance, braced and ready for action. Taking a deep breath, I steeled myself for what was to come. The stakes were higher than ever, but I knew that I had to find a way to support my team, but also keep them out of harm's way from my uncle. Wesker and I got out of his car as he walked up to one of the officers there at the scene of the crime. The rain fell relentlessly, its patter against the roof of the cop cars creating a somber symphony as we stepped out into the tense atmosphere. The weight of the mission pressed upon me, and I could feel the intensity of the situation building as the other members of the alpha team gathered. Spoke with the officer, exchanging quick but crucial information, ensuring that we were all on the same page. The officer looked at Wesker before glancing at all of us. "We've got a hostage situation," he said, his voice conveying the gravity of the situation. "The suspect is armed, dangerous, and seems to have a personal vendetta. We need to proceed with extreme caution." I gulp as I nod solemnly, Wesker turned to address the team. His commanding voice cut through the rain-soaked air, his words calculated and authoritative. "Our objective is to neutralize the threat and ensure the safety of the hostages." after going through the plan, the rest of the alpha team quickly fell into formation, ready to execute their respective roles in the mission. My mind lingered on a plan forming in the depths of my thoughts. I believed that if I could somehow separate from the team, I might be able to track down my uncle without endangering the lives of my fellow officers. It was a risky move, and one that could have dire consequences, but I needed to know what he wanted. That note was still hunting me. And it was not something I wanted to explain to the rest of the team. It was… Something I never wanted them to know. I once thought that my uncle was a good person… Then I grew up. As we advanced toward the building, each step I took was weighed down by the knowledge of the danger inside. We entered the building through the back. Wesker took the lead, then Barry, Brad, Chris, Jill, and then me. All the lights were off. My uncle must have cut the power. Another hint that this was my uncles doing. Some of the windows were shattered. Our boots stepped on them with a cracking sound that echoed through the halls.
The shattered windows and the eerie darkness of the building sent a chill down my spine, intensifying the gravity of the situation. The broken glass crunched under our boots, a haunting reminder that danger loomed ahead. I kept my senses sharp, acutely aware of the weight of my secret objective, but also mindful of the safety of my fellow officers. Captain Wesker led the way, his presence unwavering even in the face of uncertainty. His decisive steps and calculated movements set the pace for the rest of the team. Barry, Brad, Chris, and Jill followed closely behind, each one ready to carry out their assigned tasks with unwavering determination. As we navigated through the dimly lit halls, my mind remained fixated on my hidden motive. My desire to confront my uncle, to understand the truth behind his actions, burned within me. But I knew all too well the risks involved in pursuing such a path alone, especially when the safety of innocent lives hung in the balance. The echoing silence was broken only by the sound of our footsteps and the faint, distant whispers of the rain outside. I found solace in the unity of the team, knowing that even in the darkness, we had each other's backs. Suddenly, a sound caught my attention—a faint creaking noise coming from a nearby door. Instinctively, I looked ahead at the rest of alph's team walking ahead. Staying as quiet as I could before avoiding the glass on the floor, walked over to the room I heard the notice coming from. I reached out and slowly turned the handle and slipped into the room, my eyes adjusting to the dim light within. What I found inside stopped me in my tracks—an intricate web of photographs, newspaper clippings, and notes covering the walls. The evidence was overwhelming, a chilling reminder of the twisted mind that lurked behind the violence. I quietly took out my small camera and took a photo. Everything was in Russian, h had been planning this.
"Mad man, what have you done now…"
I mumbled as I walked over to read some of his mad scribbles. Umbrella, test, experiments. These were the words that keep repeating throughout his writing. I shook my head as I slowly walked around the room.
Further ahead, Chris turned down the check on Jill and Mouse. However, Mouse wasn't there. Chris quickly stopped in place and turn to look at the rest of the team. "Wesker! Mouse is missing!" captain Wesker's steely gaze shifted towards Chris, his eyes narrowing with a calculated intensity. Without missing a beat, he swiftly assessed the situation, his voice cool and authoritative as he gave instructions to the team. "Barry, stay with Jill. Brad, you search the immediate vicinity. Chris, with me. We need to find Mouse quickly and regroup."
I was taking notes on what I could, everything looked like it was going to turn to dust if I touched it. There was a note with the name dr. Luis on it I was reading when I heard a very eerie whistle down the hall. The hair is on my arm stood up as a shiver friend on my spine. I recognized that whistle, it was him. It was his 'come find me' whistle. I slowly turned away from the piece of paper on the wall and walk towards the open door and the other side of the room. My camera is put away in my pocket and my gun is back in this place as I walk through it. Pointing it up as I walked around looking around trying to find him. I heard his whistle again down the dark hallway as I turn on the flashlight on my weapon as I walk. I slept into a wire, hearing a clanking sound and a bright flashlight behind me. I turned around and I see the room behind me go up into flames. That information was clearly for my eyes alone looks like you didn't want anyone else seeing it.
"Mouse!!"
I hear Wesker yell. He was on the other side of the flaming room with Chris. They both saw me as their eyes widen. Wekser's hidden behind his sunglasses.
"I-I'm ok!! This place is booby-trapped!!"
Wesker was try looking around in the room before looking at me, but had to step back with the fire growing closer to them.
"Stay there mouse! Will find a way to get to you!"
The flames danced with a menacing glow, inching closer to captain wesker and Chris as they frantically searched for a way to reach me. Panic threatened to consume me, but I forced myself to remain calm, knowing that I had to trust in their expertise to find a solution.
With a heavy heart, I nodded in acknowledgment, understanding that my safety was their priority. I couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt for jeopardizing the mission, for confronting my uncle instead of staying with the team. As the fire raged, our communication was limited to shouts amidst the crackling flames. Wesker's voice cut through the chaos, his tone sharp and commanding. "Mouse, make sure to stay low and find a safe spot to wait. We'll find a way to reach you. Just stay put." I'm nod my head about to respond when I heard my uncle whistle again. This time growing closer. Wesker and Chris didn't hear it due to the flames and the crackling sound. I saw Chris pull out his radio and tried to communicate to me a couple of times for his glaring at it.
"Dammit!! Signals being jammed wesker!"
My heart raced as I absorbed Chris's words. The realization that my uncle was not only present but actively interfering with our communication sent a chill down my spine. The magnitude of the situation weighed heavily on me, as I understood the implications of his actions. Wesker's features hardened behind his sunglasses, his mind already working through the possible scenarios. He stepped back from the growing flames, his focus unwavering as he addressed me once more. "Mouse, we've lost contact with you. Stay hidden and be prepared for anything. We will find a way to reach you." I swallowed the knot of fear that threatened to rise in my throat, the urgency of the situation fueling my determination. I was well aware of my uncle's capabilities, his cunning nature, and the lengths he would go to achieve his twisted goals. But I had learned from Wesker, from our time together, that fear could be harnessed, weaponized even.
With my senses heightened, I crouched low, my eyes scanning my immediate surroundings for a safe place to hide and wait it out. My hand instinctively reached for the knife I kept concealed in my boot, a piece of reassurance in the face of danger. Shadows flickered around me, the crackling of the fire creating an eerie symphony of chaos. But then, a glimmer of hope emerged. Through the haze of smoke, I caught sight of a ventilation shaft tucked away in a corner. It seemed like a small opening, but it could be my ticket to safety and, eventually, a means to regroup with the team. Carefully, I moved toward the ventilation shaft, mindful of the wire traps and any other hidden dangers that might lie in wait. Struggling to see amidst the smoke and flickering flames, I activated the flashlight on my weapon, casting a dim beam ahead. The beam illuminated a path, a thread of possibility that I clung to with desperation. As I reached the ventilation shaft, I knelt down and pulled out a small toolkit, readying myself to remove the grate and squeeze through the narrow opening. It would be a tight fit, but it was my only chance to escape the escalating dangers surrounding me. As I tried to remove the grat, I heard it again… Coming from the next room. He was there. I slowly stood up, I knew I should just listen to the captain's words, I knew I should go back and stay put so they can find me, but he was right there. There was no hiding with him this close. I'd either have to deal with them or he would deal with me.
A mixture of fear, anticipation, and determination coursed through my veins as I contemplated the choices before me. The weight of my personal vendetta against my uncle bore down upon me, the desire to confront him and put an end to his reign of terror growing stronger with every passing second. But I knew that Wesker and Chris were counting on me to stay put, to prioritize the mission and my own safety. The fire roared around me, the heat intensifying, as if the flames themselves were urging me to action. I hesitated, torn between my allegiance to the team and my burning desire for justice. The sound of my uncle's whistle echoed through the corridors once more, piercing through the chaos, as if luring me into his trap. Instinctively, I tightened my grip on the weapon in my trembling hands, my mind racing through the possible scenarios that lay ahead. In that moment, I made a split-second decision. I couldn't ignore the opportunity presented to me, the chance to finally confront my uncle face-to-face. Pushing aside the conflicting thoughts, I steeled myself for what lay ahead, acknowledging the risks involved. As I took a step forward, my heart pounding in my chest, I slowly entered the room. My gun raised up. There he was leaning back against the counter as he looked at me. A smirk was heavily on his face as my gun was raised to him from across the room. I heard tooth pairs of footsteps running down the hall as I turn my head to look away from my uncle I saw Wesker and Chris towards the other end of the hall.
"Mouse!! Do not engage without--"
I was still blind and confronting my uncle, I didn't check to see if there was anyone else but him in the room. A man stepped off in the shadows and close the door. Locking it quickly to block off Wesker and Chris from me. My uncle smirked as he leaned up from the counter and took a few steps toward me. I quickly look back at him and pointed my gun at him.
"Thank you, comrade! Your service are no longer required."
He said as he pulled out a gun from his back pocket and shot the man in the head, killing him as he fell to the floor. My head snapped over to the man on the floor then back up my uncle. Keeping my weapon raised at him. He put on a fake hurt look as he lowered his gun to his side.
"Mouse! Why the hostility? It's me!"
"You don't get to call me that."
"Daaa! Come on! You're my niece! What uncle doesn't call their niece nicknames?"
I stood my ground, my eyes locked onto my uncle, refusing to let his deception sway me. The flames cast an eerie glow across the room, dancing shadows playing upon the walls. I could see the manipulative glint in his eyes, the twisted pleasure he derived from this twisted game he played. But I wouldn't let him deceive me any longer.
"Save your false pretenses," I retorted, my voice laced with an icy determination. "You lost the right to call me anything a long time ago."
He chuckled, his façade of hurt fading to reveal his true malicious nature. "Oh, my dear niece, your naivety is truly endearing. We all make sacrifices for the greater cause. I merely embraced my true purpose." his words sent a chill down my spine, a reminder of the darkness that resided within him. I had seen enough of his actions and witnessed the destruction he had wrought. There was no turning back now. He put his gun away and walked around the room. His hands were behind his back.
"Did you enjoy the room back there? I didn't really have enough time to make sure the evidence was…. Salvageable but, I'm sure used to have that good memory of yours."
I kept my gun trained on him, refusing to let his attempts at manipulation affect me. Despite the chaos that surrounded us, I focused my attention solely on him, determined to stay one step ahead. "I'm not here for your games, uncle," I replied, my voice steady and resolute. He paused for just a moment to know that I laugh. "Oh, but you are! Otherwise, you wouldn't be here! I mean, you still would have come on this mission. But if you never saw that that's a red red on your desk. You would have never gone looking for me!"
My eye narrowed. "What did you mean by don't trust Wesker? If anything your one to talk about trust."
The fire crackled in the room, casting a flickering glow on our faces as the tension between us simmered. I watched him carefully, his smirk never wavering, as he continued to circle the room. The mention of Wesker had hit a nerve, and I could sense his desire to exploit any shred of doubt I might have.
"Don't trust Wesker," he echoed, his voice dripping with derision. "Oh, mouse, my dear, sweet niece, you have no idea the depths of deception that man is capable of. He's merely using you, playing with your emotions to further his own agenda." I clutched my weapon tighter, steadfast in my loyalty to Wesker. I had seen his dedication first and, and felt the unwavering support he had provided throughout our missions together. My uncle's attempt to sow doubt in my mind only reinforced my resolve. "I trust Wesker with my life," I declared, my voice ringing out with conviction. "Unlike you, he's proven his loyalty time and time again. Your words mean nothing to me." a flicker of annoyance flashed across his face, but he quickly regained his composed demeanor. "Ah, but mouse, you're blind to his true nature. He's a master manipulator, always playing the long game. You're just a pawn in his grand scheme. Can't you see that?" I refused to be swayed by his words. Wesker had been my mentor, my guide. I had witnessed his dedication, his cunning, and his unwavering commitment to our cause. My uncle's attempts to discredit him only fueled my determination to prove him wrong. "I trust my instincts, uncle," I replied, my voice cutting through the air. "And they tell me that Wesker is on the right side of this fight. You, on the other hand, are nothing more than a power-hungry monster." his eyes narrowed, the veneer of control slipping for a moment. "You dare to speak to me like that? I made you who you are! Without me, you'd be nothing!" his words struck a nerve, a reminder of the twisted family ties that bound us together. I felt a surge of anger, but I held onto my composure, refusing to let him see the effect his words had on me. "I may be connected to you by blood," I retorted, my voice filled with a steely resolve, "But I refuse to let your darkness consume me. I will fight against you with everything I have, and I will make sure justice is served." his eyes glinted, a menacing smile playing at his lips. "Oh, mouse, we're connected by more than just blood."
I glared at him as I heard the faint voices of my teammates behind the locked doors. "What do you mean by that!?" I hissed out as a devilish smirk took over his face. "So… They never did tell you." he shrugged. Pulling out something from his pocket. "No matter. It seems your friends are here. Which sadly means… We are out of time." he pulled out two syringes one empty and one full of something. "We will be seeing each other again dear niece. However, before I go I will be leaving you a parting gift."
"Mouse!!"
I heard Wesker's voice behind the door as I heard someone attempting to break the lock. I turned my head to look back at the door to yell back at him when I felt my uncle inject me with the needle. My eyes widen as I saw him smirk and lean in too close to me. "маленький феникс." My vision begin to blur as he injected the other needle into me. Filling it up with my blood before letting me collapse to the floor. One moment he was standing over me. The next wesker was leaning over me with a very concerned look on his face as well as Chris who was sitting next to me.
Wesker's cool voice broke through the haze of confusion, concern lacing his words. "Mouse, can you hear me? Stay with us, we're going to get you out of here." his commanding voice filled me with a strange sense of comfort, my mind grasped onto his words as I tried to make sense of what had just happened. Chris's worried expression mirrored Wesker's, his hand resting gently on my shoulder as he spoke.
"Mouse, what happened? Are you okay?" I blinked, struggling to find my voice, the dizziness and disorientation clouding my thoughts. My uncle's words echoed in my mind, a cryptic phrase that held unknown consequences. I tried to form coherent words, but my voice came out as a weak whisper. "I… I don't know… He… Injected me… Something…" My eyelids felt heavy, closing against my will as darkness threatened to claim me. But Wesker's presence, his unwavering resolve, kept me from slipping away. Wesker's sharp eyes surveyed my condition, his voice calm but urgent. "Stay with me, mouse. We'll figure this out. Chris, we need to get her out of here and back to headquarters. I need to analyze whatever that man injected her with." Chris nodded, his grip on my shoulder tightening as he helped me to my feet. "We've got you, mouse. Just hang in there." as they guided me out of the room, the chaos of the burning building faded into the background, I could hear the police sirens, the heavy rain hitting against everything, the voices of my teammates yelling out my name before everything went to black. As darkness enveloped me, I couldn't shake off the feeling of vulnerability and confusion. Images of my uncle's sinister smile replayed in my mind, his words echoing in my ears. I trusted Wesker and Chris to keep me safe, but the uncertainty of my situation left me feeling uneasy. As consciousness slipped away, my body grew heavy, succumbing to the effects of the unknown injection.
Beep……. Beep…. Beep….. Beep….. What was that….. Beep…. Sound? Beep….. It sounded like a… Beep…. Heart monitor?
"How is she?"
… Captain?
"Her vitals are stable, she should be waking up soon. The injection should be running out of her system shortly."
Beep…
"Do you know what she was injected with Birkin?"
…. Birkin?
"A large amount of propofol."
I could hear the voices floating in and out of my consciousness. The beeping sound became more distinct, gradually pulling me out of the abyss. My eyelids fluttered open, and I found myself lying in a sterile hospital room. The dim lighting was a stark contrast to the chaos I remembered from before. I could still hear the heavy rain hitting the window of my room. As I slowly regained my senses, I realized that I was not alone. Wesker, standing tall and composed as ever, was at my bedside, his piercing gaze fixed on me. His voice carried a mix of concern and curiosity as he spoke. "Mouse, it's good to see you awake. How are you feeling?" his words felt like a lifeline, grounding me in the present as I struggled to gather my scattered thoughts.
I mustered a weak smile and struggled to sit up, feeling a dull ache in my body. "I'm… I'm okay, I think. Just a little disoriented." Wesker nodded, his expression shifting from concern to a more determined focus. "That's to be expected. You were injected with a large dose of propofol, a powerful anesthetic. It should be wearing off soon." I hummed before I turned my head to look over at the doctor. "Who is…." I mumbled, my head still groggy. The doctor by the side spoke up, his voice gentle yet professional. "I'm Dr. Birkin. I've been monitoring your condition since you were brought in. You're in good hands here at the facility." I looked up and down at him. He had a bag that had his name on it. William Birkin, umbrella?
"You work for Umbrella? The pharmaceutical company? What are you doing here?"
Wesker said nothing as Dr. Birkin wrote things down on his clip board.
"Al and I are friends, he called me in for a favor after you were brought to Raccoon Hospital."
He didn't look up at me as he kept writing on his clipboard. I nervously glanced over at Wesker. I knew the moment I was good enough to be discharged and back at the police station. I was going to get chewed out for separating from the group.
"I was simply asked to give my own medical opinion about the situation. Since we weren't completely sure until recently what you were injected with."
He clicked his pen and put it back into his pocket. Taking a look at me then back at Wesker. "Once the other doctor comes in here and takes a look at you. You should be good to be released soon."
"Ah… T-thank you."
I looked up at Wesker again. Wesker's icy blue eyes met mine, a sense of relief evident in his gaze. His voice, as smooth as ever, resonated with a mix of concern and authority. "You gave us a scare, Mouse." he said as there was a knock on the door. Chris looked his head into the room. Looking around and them smiling as he was that I was up. "She's awake!" Wesker tch at him. "Don't yell Redfield, this is a hospital." Chris chuckled nervously as he rubbed the back of his head approaching us. "S-sorry sir." as dr. Birkin excused himself, promising to return with an update, I focused my attention back on Wesker. His stoic facade seemed momentarily softened, but this disappeared as Chris approached me. The one lamp on in the room helps light up Chris and Wesker. The rest was lightened up by the moon that sky shining through the drops of rain hitting the window.
Chris stood by my side, a mixture of worry and relief on his face. His warm smile, a contrast to the seriousness he usually carried, melted away a layer of tension. "Mouse, I'm glad to see you're awake. You had us all worried there." his voice was gentle, grabbing my attention as I looked up at him. "I'm sorry for causing a fuss, Chris," I muttered, feeling a twinge of guilt. Wesker's voice cut through the room, his tone firm and commanding. "What matters now is that you're safe. We'll deal with the rest when you've fully recovered." I nod as Chris put his hand on my shoulder. "What about the mission? What happened to everyone else?" Wesker sighed heavily. "Everyone's fine. The rest of S.T.A.R.S got the hostages out of the building for a collapse." Chris nod his head after Wesker was about done talking. "The captain and I stayed here with you to make sure everything went okay."
I could sense a mix of relief and worry in Chris's voice. It was clear that he had been deeply concerned for my well-being. I took a moment to gather my thoughts before speaking, my voice still weak. "Thank you, Chris, Wesker. I appreciate all you've done. But the man that attacked me--" "Got away." Wesker cut in coldly.
I blinked, taken aback by his response. The severity of the situation sunk in, and a feeling of guilt washed over me. "What? How did he escape?" Wesker's eyes narrowed as he crossed his arms, his voice cool and calculated. "He was aided by a group of mercenaries. They seemed to have planned an elaborate escape route, and we were caught off guard." the news hit me hard, my mind racing with questions. Who were these mercenaries? And how did my uncle have connections to them? Chris's grip on my shoulder tightened, his voice filled with determination. "Don't worry, mouse. We'll find him. We won't let him get away with everything he's done." "Do… Do we know who he was?" Wesker raised an eyebrow at my question. "No, we assumed you probably had an idea with your interaction with them." I had to pretend like I didn't know who that man was. I shook my head slowly. "I don't know… I was saying something but… It's all a blur right now."
Wesker's gaze narrowed slightly, his suspicions apparently piqued. "Mouse, if you remember anything, no matter how insignificant it may seem, you need to let us know," he urged, his voice firm. I glanced between chris and Wesker, trying to keep my composure. "Of course, captain. If anything comes back to me, I'll inform you immediately." Wesker's expression softened fractionally, and he nodded. "Good. We'll need all the information we can get if we're going to put an end to this chaos." As Chris looked at me intently, concern etched on his face, a pang of guilt twisted in the pit of my stomach. I had been keeping secrets, and the weight of it all was starting to wear me down. I tried to change the topic quickly. "How… Long was I out?" "A few hours." Chris said as he pulled up a chair and sat down. "I stand guard outside as Wesker stood guard in here. He didn't leave your side for a moment." Chris said with a slight smirk on his face as I blushed.
Despite my attempts at diverting the conversation, chris' words sent a warmth spreading across my cheeks. I glanced over at Wesker, who was steadfastly avoiding making eye contact with me, his stoic facade in place. But even as he averted his gaze, I couldn't help but notice a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. I cleared my throat, trying to regain my composure. "I appreciate both of you looking out for me. It means a lot." there was a mix of emotions swirling within me—gratitude for their concern, but also a growing unease about the secrets I had been keeping. Chris nodded, his expression softening with reassurance. "Of course, mouse. We're a team, and we look out for each other." Chris glanced over at Wesker with a stupid look on his face. "I meeeaaan, I did offer to take his place for a few minutes so he can go get a drink or take care of anything. But he--" "That's enough, Redfield." Wesker cut him off before he could say another word. Turning his head to look away from me. Dr. Birkin and another doctor re-entered the room. Both of them held their clipboards as the other doctor smiled and Dr. Birkin just…. Had a neutral face on.
"Well, I have some good news. Based on your recent results. We would like to keep you here overnight just to make sure everything gets out of your system. As soon as tomorrow comes you're free to be the storage discharge."
Chris and I smiled as Chris raised his hand up. "I can stay the--"
"I'll be staying the night with her."
Wesker said cutting him off quickly as my head snapped over to him. The shock of Wesker's words hit me like a jolt of electricity. My eyes widened, and I tried to conceal my surprise. Wesker, staying the night with me? It was unexpected, to say the least. My heart fluttered in my chest, and a mix of hope and confusion swirled within me. Was this just a professional courtesy, or was there something more to it? But I couldn't let my emotions get the best of me. I needed to remain composed and focused on the mission.
Chris, on the other hand, seemed taken aback by Wesker's abrupt decision. He raised an eyebrow, obviously surprised by the captain's intervention. "Uh, sir, I'm perfectly capable of staying with her. You don't need to sacrifice your time." Wesker's voice held a hint of finality as he turned to face Chris, his eyes piercing through the tension. "That won't be necessary, Redfield. I'll handle it." my mind was conflicted with emotions. On one hand, I felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness at the prospect of spending the night alone with Wesker. On the other hand, I couldn't help but question his true motives. Was it a mere duty that led him to volunteer, or was there a hidden agenda? I tried to shake off the uncertainty and focused my attention on the doctors. "Thank you, doctors. I appreciate your care and consideration. I'll be in good hands with Wesker." the doctors nodded, offering words of encouragement before taking their leave.
As the room emptied, leaving only Chris, Wesker, and me, an awkward silence settled in. Chris cleared his throat, breaking the tense atmosphere. "Well, if you're in good hands, I suppose I'll head back to headquarters. Just… Take care of her, okay captain?" there was a slightly teasing note in Chris's voice as he emphasized the last two words, his eyes flickering between Wesker and me. Wesker's expression remained impassive, but his voice held a hint of amusement. "Don't worry, Redfield. I'll make sure she gets the rest she needs." Chris flashed a knowing smile, clapped Wesker on the shoulder, and left the room with a final wave.
Now alone with Wesker, I shifted uncomfortably under his penetrating gaze. I couldn't help but feel his presence, enveloping the room, and my heart raced in response. Trying to break the silence, I finally spoke. "Captain, you didn't have to stay. I'm sure I would have been fine on my own." Wesker's eyes locked on mine, and a faint smile played at the corners of his lips. "No, mouse. You're not just fine on your own. You're a valuable member of the team, and I intend to protect you. Besides, I believe spending some time together may offer an opportunity to discuss the case further." his words were soft, almost reassuring, yet there was an undercurrent of underlying motives.
I swallowed hard, trying to process his words and the tight knot forming in my stomach. Wesker's attention was solely focused on me, sending a thrill through my veins but also causing a wave of uncertainty. I nodded, attempting to maintain a sense of professionalism. "Of course, captain. If you think it will help, I'm open to discussing the case." Wesker's smile widened slightly, his eyes glinting beneath his sunglasses. "Good. We have a lot to unravel, mouse, and I believe your insights will be invaluable." as the night wore on, the sound of rain against the window lulled me into a sense of calmness. Wesker remained a constant presence at my side, his vigilance never wavering. I couldn't deny the fluttering in my chest, the mix of excitement and nervousness at being alone with him. As soon as Wesker knew that I was fast asleep. He got out of his chair and left the room birkin waiting just outside the door.
"Did you get the blood sample, Birkin." Wesker asked.
Birkin nodded, holding up a vial filled with a deep red substance. "I managed to retrieve a sample during her examination earlier." Wesker's expression became more focused as he observed the vial. He spoke in a low, controlled tone. "Good. We need to analyze this as soon as possible. We can't afford any more surprises." Birkin nodded in agreement, his eyes briefly darting towards Mouses's room door before returning his attention to Wesker. "I'll take this to the lab and begin the analysis right away." Wesker's gaze never left the vial, his voice carrying a sense of urgency. "Keep me updated on any findings, Birkin. We need to stay one step ahead." "I'll make it my top priority."
As the conversation came to an end, birkin carefully secured the vial in a protective casing before tucking it securely into his lab coat pocket. He couldn't help but feel a mixture of apprehension and excitement coursing through his veins. This experimental blood sample held the potential for groundbreaking discoveries, and he was determined to unlock its secrets.
Leaving Wesker behind, Birkin briskly walked through the sterile halls of the hospital, his footsteps echoing against the cold tile floor. Wesker watched him walk away before quietly entering Mouse's room and shutting the door. Birkin knew he needed to head to the underground laboratory to get started on the blood right away. As he head to his car he paused. Letting out a sigh as he reached for his phone and called someone."
Ring…. Ring…. Ring… Rin-click!
"William, where are you? I know Wesker called you in for a favor but it's been hours."
Birkin swallowed a bit nervously. "I'm going to be staying overnight at the lab. Something has come up." it was quiet on the other side of the phone. Followed by a sigh. "William, you know it's your night to spend wit sherrly--"
"I promise I'll do it tomorrow. Annette. As soon as I get the result back I'll head home and spend the day with her."
Annette sigh.
"Alright. I love you."
"Love you too."
He lowered the phone and hung up before getting into his car and driving away. As he reached the entrance to his spacious and well-equipped laboratory, Birkin took a moment to compose himself. Adjusting his lab coat and straightening his red tie, he pushed open the heavy double doors and stepped into the room. The familiar scent of chemicals and the hum of machinery greeted him, providing a soothing backdrop to his thoughts. With meticulous precision, Birkin prepared his workstation, arranging the necessary equipment and setting up the centrifuge to begin the analysis. His usually shaky hands moved with a newfound steadiness, fueled by his determination to unravel the secrets hidden within the blood sample. Every beep and whir of the machines harmonized with the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, and he soon lost himself in the task at hand. Hours turned into a blur as Birkin meticulously examined the sample, recording his findings and analyzing the data. Concentration etched deeply onto his face, he absentmindedly pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, his eyes scanning the screen with unwavering focus. The thrill of discovery coursed through his veins, overpowering any feelings of exhaustion that threatened to overcome him. Suddenly, a soft chime from his computer broke the silence, signaling the completion of the analysis. Birkin's heart leaped with anticipation as he leaned closer, his eyes widening behind his thick glasses. The screen displayed a host of complex information and glowing charts, indicating a staggering transformation within the blood sample. His hands trembled slightly, a mixture of excitement and anxiety coursing through his veins.
"Now, let's see what secrets you hold," Birkin murmured to himself, his voice filled with a sense of unquenchable curiosity. With a few keystrokes, he began to delve deeper into the extensive data before him, immersing himself further into his work. The room filled with a soft glow from the computer screen as Birkin delved deeper into the mysteries of the blood sample, unaware of the passing time and the world beyond the confines of his laboratory.
My eyes slowly opened. I could still hear the sound of the heart monitor in the rain hitting against the window. The room is star except for the moonlight coming in through the window. Wesker was sitting in a nearby chair waiting over one of the books in the room. I turned my head to one of the stands near my bed and reach out to grab the cup, it was empty. Wesker had noticed that I was up and stood up. Closing his book and setting it down before walking over to my side. "Do you want me to get you more water?" he asked as I nod my head. "Please?" my voice was slightly hoarse as I had just woken up. Wesker's gaze softened. He nodded, his eyes briefly flickering to the empty cup before returning to meet mine. "Give me a moment." he swiftly made his way out of the room and returned shortly with a filled glass of water. As he handed it to me, our fingers brushed, sending a shiver down my spine. I took a small sip, grateful for the refreshing coolness. The taste of water, for a moment, distracted me from the weight of our situation. But it didn't take long for reality to settle back in. Silence filled the room as Wesker watched over me, his presence both comforting and unnerving. He leaned against a nearby wall, his gaze fixed on mine, conveying an unspoken connection. "Thank you sir." I said before taking another sip. He nod his head as he watched me.
Wesker's icy blue eyes held a glimmer of something that I couldn't quite decipher. It was a mixture of concern and something deeper. He seemed to be searching for something within me, as if trying to unravel the thoughts that lay beneath the surface. The intensity of his gaze made me momentarily forget about the chaos that surrounded us, focusing solely on the connection between us. A small smile played at the corners of his lips as I expressed my gratitude. "You're welcome," he replied softly, his voice holding a trace of something genuine. Wesker's usual stoic demeanor seemed to soften at that moment, revealing a side of him that I rarely had the chance to witness. His presence, though still imposing and commanding, carried a subtlety that made my heart skip a beat. Taking a step closer, Wesker's voice dropped to a low murmur, as if sharing a secret. "The doctor said that you should be fine to go to work. But I want you to take one more day away from work. Just to make sure your fully recovered from this. I'll have someone stay with you if you need it.
The concern in Wesker's voice caught me off guard. His words echoed with a level of care that I hadn't anticipated. Despite his typically stoic nature, there was a genuine worry for my well-being shining through. My heart fluttered at the thought of him going to such lengths to ensure my recovery. I met his gaze, my eyes widening slightly as I processed his request. It was unexpected, yet undeniably tempting to accept. Another day of rest wouldn't go unappreciated, considering the harrowing events we had been through. But a part of me hesitated. I didn't want to appear weak or incapable in his eyes. However, considering the trust I had in Wesker's judgment, I knew he had my best interests at heart. Swallowing the pride that threatened to override my better judgment, I nodded, my voice slightly shaky. "Thank you, captain. I… I think that would be wise." a sense of relief washed over me, knowing that I had his support. "And if someone could stay with me, it would provide an added layer of reassurance." Wesker's lips curved into a faint smile, his eyes reflecting a mixture of satisfaction and relief. "Very well, mouse. I'll arrange for someone from the team to remain in close proximity. They will ensure your safety and provide any necessary assistance." his assurance sent a wave of comfort through me, knowing that I wouldn't have to face the next day alone.
As the room fell into a comfortable silence, I couldn't help but appreciate the depth of the trust that had formed between us. Wesker's watchful presence was both calming and unnerving, a constant reminder of how intertwined our lives had become. In the midst of chaos, he remained a steady anchor, ensuring my well-being even when the world around us was crumbling. I took another sip of water, relishing its coolness as I watched Wesker's unwavering gaze. It was a rare glimpse into the depths of his character, and it left me yearning for more. But I knew that the time for such thoughts would come later. For now, I needed to focus on my recovery. "Maybe have Chris do it? We were meant to hang out after this mission anyways." Wesker smirked. His voice slightly teasing me. "I'm not sure you understand, mouse. We want you to rest. Not to come into work with your ears ringing and a headache." a playful smile tugged at the corners of my lips as Wesker's teasing remark echoed in my ears. His voice, filled with a hint of amusement, danced with a charismatic charm that I couldn't help but be drawn to. It was a rare sight to witness this side of the imposing captain, and the glimpse into his more casual nature was intriguing. "Alright, alright, captain," I replied, a mock pout on my face as I played along. "But only because you said so." his smirk widened, his icy blue eyes sparkling with amusement. "Good," he replied, his tone laced with a hint of satisfaction. Wesker left to refill my glass one last time before it's placing it next to me. "Now get some rest." he said.
I nodded, appreciating Wesker's insistence on rest and his attentive care. His teasing tone had lightened the atmosphere, and there was a shared understanding beneath the playful banter. As he placed the glass of water next to me, our fingers brushed again, sending a thrill through me. It was a subtle touch, but one that lingered in the air, leaving a trail of desire in its wake. "Thank you, captain," I whispered, my voice filled with gratitude and a hint of anticipation. "For everything." Wesker's smile softened, his eyes searching mine for a moment before he nodded. "You're welcome, mouse," he replied, his voice carrying a tenderness that made my heart skip a beat. "Rest well. I'll check in on you soon." with that, Wesker turned and made his way back to his chair and book. His presence faded into the shadows, his departure leaving me yearning for more. I settled back into the pillows, feeling a mix of emotions swirling within me. The weight of the recent events still clung to my thoughts. Closing my eyes, I let the steady beat of the rain lull me into sleep. Unaware of what was about to happen to me.
