March 26, 2020 - Lesser Yellownape (Picus chlorolophus)
These woodpeckers are found in parts of India, southern China, and Southeast Asia. They feed mostly on insects, such as ants and beetles, as well as insect larvae, berries, and nectar. Foraging alone or in small groups, they often join mixed-species flocks. Breeding between February and July, pairs excavate nests in partially dead trees. Both parents incubate the eggs and care for the chicks.
