okay but everyone going THATS PROFESSOR OAKS TRAINER! and for once its not bcz ash fought a god or anything chaotic like that and sams heart blooms with so much pride and love for his boy and he cries bcz it reminds him of when he became pokemon champion decades ago despite the odds-

From where he leaned against her door frame, Claude clears his throat to catch Hilda's attention. His unofficial way to signal that he is going to speak. "Thanks for not questioning me about how I had been able to introduce an Almyran general to your brother." Minor questions had been raised, but the noble woman did not press the duke for answers. It really means a lot to him for the trust displayed. "Though I'm sure it is just eating at you, right?"

       she knows he’s there, catching a glimpse of him from her peripheral vision long before he even signals to catch her attention.  “  oh, it’s not that i didn’t question it, per say.  ”  she did, oh boy did she ever question it. the very idea of her brother sitting down with an almyran general  —  let alone such a well known one  —  was mind boggling to her.  “  i just chose not to vocalize it. i figured you’d come talk to me eventually, y’know.  ”  she trusts him wholeheartedly, so she wasn’t particularly concerned about that little surprise. caught off guard, perhaps…but not worried.

       “  although…if you’re here to finally explain yourself, i’m all ears.  ”  placing aside the fabric she was mending as well as her needle and thread, she tilts her head towards the spot beside her on the bed  —  a silent invitation for him to come and sit down. it’s a sensitive matter, she can sense it…so, she’d rather he not be left standing in the open doorway all the while.
