His character gets misinterpreted a lot so I hope that this section of the art book really hammers home what Jinu feels in this moment.

He isn't talking about Rumi at all in this scene, he's talking about himself. Jinu believes he's an irredeemable monster who deserves to be miserable.

The freedom that he believed he could attain with Rumi the day before? Snatched from him so quickly as soon as Gwi-Ma got into his head.

Something interesting to note is that it is confirmed that Jinu is the only demon who is bold enough to defy Gwi-Ma at all, which is why I imagine Gwi-Ma keeps a closer eye on Jinu.

At the start of the film, we can infer that he does not see out of the demons eyes who he sent to Huntrix on the plane - probably because he feels little need to as they are lesser demons to him:

But in regards to Jinu? He sees everything.

But just because Jinu has the guts to call Gwi-Ma out on his crap, that doesn't mean he's immune to his torture. Far from it.

In fact, Jinu is someone who struggles immensely with Gwi-Ma's torment.

So just because he can defy Gwi-Ma, he is in no means immune to him and I really like that aspect.

They could have easily just made him a simple badass who is completely resilient to Gwi-Ma, but the truth is the opposite.

Jinu is a badass with weaknesses making him much more human and relatable.

Actual kudos to the writers.
