Yeri’s smile remained plastered on her face. The same smile she’d worn since her mother’s plane touched down earlier that morning, the smile she had been lying beneath. She stood motionless, listening to the slow steps her mother took down the hall and into the guest bedroom. She waited a few moments longer, until she knew the door would stay shut, praying she’d hidden all the personal effects that had accumulated in her new bedroom which would raise suspicion. Once she felt safe enough to do so she relaxed her features, rubbing her hands over her rubber-like cheeks. “And,” She stresses out the word, turning to Colton. “We did it.” Yeri’s face broke out into a silent show of joy, amazed that they’d both been convincing enough to fool her own mother. “Ugh, I hate lying to her -but you did really well. Thanks for it.” Her appreciation wasn’t overly enthusiastic, though those who knew her knew very well that it was a rare occurrence.
