~10.29.2021 . You never really know where life will take you & why it takes you in the direction it does . One week ago today, on an ordinary Friday evening my sister & I spent, along with our neighbors, an evening in the driveway of our homes praying they didn’t burn to the ground. We live in adjoining townhouses, and my next door neighbor left the eye of the stove on, then went to take a shower . #yesthat . I was nearly asleep when the crazy commotion started & someone started yelling ‘fire!’ Chaos ensued . On the way out the door, I grabbed Louis, my handbag, and an old pic of my Mom & Dad …. No shoes, in pjs & as smoke rolled into our house, leaving the front door wide open, I looked back & said my goodbyes & stepped out the door as fire trucks, police & EMS rolled in . We were lucky, where fire leaves nothing, we were left with smoke, which still permeates was everything . . If God has taught me anything in the last couple of years it’s to expect the unexpected & to stop trying to predict the future. If God has taught me anything, it is to be grateful for what happens after . At the hospital, we met a nurse who’s house burned to the ground years back, nothing left to salvage . Everything scorched . I could see the memory & sadness of it lingering in her eyes as she told us . Which brings me to our new home @bellyardhotel while our insurance helps sort everything out . Thank you for the room with the most amazing view of Atlanta & it’s so peaceful here . Super grateful . . . . #grateful #gratefulheart #thankyou #bellyardhotel #staycation #peaceful #godisgoodallthetime #unforgettablefire #cityviews #skyline #atlantaskyline #cityscape #sky #architecturephotography #cityofatlanta #westmidtown #westsideatl #capitoldebeaute (at Bellyard) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVm_LGBrYLS/?utm_medium=tumblr
