Okay the more I think about it the more I am really invested in an Utena Girlband AU.

Just think about it.

Juri writing all of these really ridiculous and sappy love songs. Everyone except Anthy just ??? over it.

Anthy and Utena falling asleep holding hands on the tour bus and Nanami just being like ‘ughhh you losers you have to hold hand even when you sleep??? that is so unnecessary i can’t work in these conditions’

Utena finally being allowed to dress how she wants and being praised and admired for it. All 10 year old girls want to grow up and being Utena Tenjou slamming that guitar in her “boy” shorts.

Or they want to be Juri Arisugawa playing drums in Prada heels.

Kozue being able to hit that on a global international pop star scale

Fashion moguls being really mad that Juri is a drummer because  her drum set blocks the view of all her fabulous clothes

Wakaba probably has at least 10 Utena figurines and plushies

Tokiko as their manager

Chuchu eating all of Nanami’s food when they go on tour. Just Nanami’s.

Anthy finally escaping her brother’s world and making her own

Nanami finding that what makes her special is her voice not her brother

Saionji writing down all the lyrics to all their songs down in his journal

Juri having to pry Utena and Anthy off each other during practice at least once a week

And just think of all the bonding they would do

Nanami, after a big fall out with her brother is just not interested in guys at the moment and when guys at the concerts won’t take no for an answer Kozue introduces them to Mr. Stairs

Or Anthy lets them know why she is Queen of Passive Aggressive Insults, whoever is closest.

Nanami ripping people (reporters, magazines, etc.) to shreds when they talk shit about Utena and Anthy’s relationship because only she is allowed to do that

Juri acting as a bridge between Miki and Kozue and helping them mend their relationship. Kozue skills increase exponentially cause of it.

Utena and Nanami going on an undercover mission to find out who is Juri’s mysterious love. They fail miserably. 

Anthy helping Juri sort out her real love for Shiori and her idealized love for Shiori, because if anyone knows about idealization at the cost of one’s self it’s Anthy

Anthy taking the phone for Nanami when Touga calls. Nanami taking the phone for Anthy when Akio calls.

Utena finally having the family she never had. She always wanted sisters.

Just all these very flawed and very different girls making beautiful music together

The show was about to begin, as a million other shows had, and everyone was in position.

Kozue stood to Anthy’s left, stroking the keys of her keyboard as she flashed a smile at the security guard. Nanami was five steps in front, fidgeting with the microphone and yelling at Tsuwabuki that the sound was off.  Juri, being drummer, was behind Anthy but she could probably guess that Juri had a steely look at her face. Finally, there was Utena on right, stretching her body up and down (and her guitar along with it), giddy with excitement.

She looked very much like the people in the crowd. They were all cheering, bobbing up and down like waves. When she looked closely, Anthy could even see some had painted their band’s, Prinxess, emblem on their faces. Excitement was alive in their eyes. Yes. As she looked closer she could see it burning in their eyes, see their faces melt away until there was but that fire. It would burn everything in its path. It would burn her.

Crowd was moving now. Swarming around her like smoke, setting her aflame with loud jeers of witchwitchwitch –

“Hey, Himemiya, look at me.”

Utena’s voice broke the spell; Anthy could finally turn away from the crowd.

“Yes?” She would not let her voice waver.

Utena smiled. “I’d really like it if you played the first song for me.”

She pulled Anthy’s hand off her bass and pressed a kiss to it.

“Me and no one else.”

Anthy looked at her – looked her closely – and saw nothing but love. And Crowd was no more.

oh, oh! utena/anthy, street racer au. because you know anthy drives like a demon.

You’ve never lost a race before. Wakaba is taking it way harder than you ; she’s raging in your ear all the way up to winning red car that it’s probably that bastard Touga Kiryuu who paid a robot to drive for him or something, you stopped listening when the red driver stepped out of the car and shook loose long purple hair.

Definitely-Not-Touga-Kiryuu sticks out her hand, and with an unreadable smile says, “So you’re the legendary Utena Tenjou. I have to admit I was expecting a little more of challenge. Anthy Himemiya. Nice to meet you.”

 “Yeah, um. Yeah. That’s me. Utena Tenjou.” Any grace you had left over from the road deserts you. “You drive good.”

Shoujo Kakumei Utena, number 27.

“But Utena, you promised!”

“No, I didn’t,” said Utena, trying to shake Wakaba off her arm. If she didn’t get her blood flow back soon she was pretty sure it was going to have to be amputated.

Wakaba sternly ignored the safety of Utena’s appendages. “Okay, you didn’t. But as a best friend you definitely could have promised and that means you definitely should keep your word!”

“Huh?”

“Come on Utena, it’s just one teensy little concert.” Wakaba set a world record for pouting her lower lip. “They’re not even famous yet!”

“Geez, why do you want to go so bad? We should be studying.”

“Haven’t you heard?” said Wakaba, “The lead singer is supposed to be a total prince! He’s kind, humble, down to earth, extremely sexy-”

“Okay!” Utena cut her off, “I get it.” She shook her head.

“So you’ll come with me?”

Utena made a pained expression.

“Come on, Utena! Can’t you just see me standing in the crowd, with him on the stage as he gazes towards me and we fall in love? It’ll be love at first sight! Just like a fairytale!”

Wakaba jumped on Utena’s back. “Don’t deny me love!”

“Okay, okay. I’ll go.”

Wakaba squealed, and jumped on her again, this time in the cutting off airflow kind of way. She chanted I love you’s in Utena’s ear all the way to the club 32nd street. They got in with no problem, but right away Utena found the place was not at all like most other rock concerts. The dance floor was lined up with small tables that each held a rose shaped candle, and the only things on the stage were a microphone and a small stool.

Utena leaned down to whisper in Wakaba’s ear, “You sure this is the right place?”

Wakaba looked completely unsure. “Yeah, I’m totally sure.”

Suddenly, the few people seated started to applaud as a woman walk to the stage. She had long waves of purple hair and wore a pink dress with white shoes. Very formal. She didn’t seem to fit this place either.

The woman placed a photo on the stool and began to speak.

Her voice was soft, almost whimsical, but there was something lurking underneath. At first, Utena spent so much time trying to figure it out that she missed what the woman is actually saying.

But then the words come at her. The woman had been growing them up like roses, so brilliant that Utena has no other choice but to feel the kiss of their dew and the sting of their thorns. It’s poetry. Literally. It was literally poetry. They must be a poetry slam.

Utena wanted to go grab a seat right in front but her legs weren’t working.

“Okay, Utena, you’re right. This isn’t the right place. Let’s go,” said Wakaba, nudging her.

Utena shooed her away.

“But the concert – ”

“Wakaba, shhh!”

The woman’s voice picked up and that thing that had been lurking underneath snapped out in full force. She was slicing down rhymes with ice and then spitting them back out with fire, and Utena’s suddenly had chills all over her – the good kind of chills, the kind she gets right before she makes a basket or hits a homerun.

Her heart was beating just as fast, too.

Then, the woman simply stopped. She turned around and picked up the photo from the stool and showed it to the audience. It is some kind of generic prince figure, white horse and all.

Calmly, elegantly, she ripped the prince right down the middle.

“It’s all lies. This world has no need for princes.”

Wow.

Okay.

So this is what Wakaba meant by love at first sight.
