Lisa x Jean: "it's not your-"
Waking up Jean moved her arm to go across her love- only to find a empty cold space. Opening her eyes in surprise at the realization. Lisa woke up before Jean? Never in a million years has that happened(unless Jean got sick which was very rare) but eh. Maybe someone didn't turn in a library book in time.
The thought brought a shiver run down Jean's back as she moved to get up, even she-Lisa's own lover-isn't safe from her wrath. A terrifying memory of being a day late made her recall if she herself borrowed any books as of late.
Shaking her head at the memory she got up grabbing her normal attire- once Jean finished getting dressed her hair draped down her shoulders, getting a brush she fixed her hair into its signature style before turning out the door. Not before looking in the mirror one last time.
"Ok. You got this Jean"
Today was the day. Jean thought to herself. Looking in the mirror- she saw her confident self. Her nervous self. Ok, maybe looking in the mirror wasn't the smartest idea of making herself feel better, she concluded that she'd just do it when it felt right. Today was the day. Patting the box in her pocket she gave a nod to herself.
It's nice and secure
Perfect for a certain someone
The thought brought a smile to Jean's face. Time to go find a certain librarian
-
It isn't all that hard to find Lisa, after all if she isn't in the library she's in Jean's office waiting for her. Entering the library quietly Jean glanced around before seeing her favorite person. A smile came onto her face seeing her work, "Lisa" Jean called out making the women in question turn before a happy look came on-one of her favorite things she does, no matter the time or place. As soon as Lisa sees Jean- a bright happy smile comes on as if they've been apart for months.
"Why hello there, my love~" Lisa stated putting the final book away before facing her- arms stretched out for their morning hug. Pulling her in a scent of lavender and that radish dish she loved to moloch engulfed her as arms pulled her her neck. Smiling to herself, Jean hid into her neck hugging her deeply before taking a step back "well someone missed me" with a boop of her nose "I missed you as well"
"Of course I did" Jean spoke with a relaxed chuckle. This is something Lisa enjoys seeing everyday, the usual busy bodied Jean more relaxed which- all in itself is a treat- especially in public- not that she'd ever complain of course. It was always sort lived "oh- I was wondering for lunch we could meet up by our usual spot?" Jean wondered aloud more to herself then her lover for the idea, would popping the question be good there or-
"That'd be lovely dear" Lisa cut off her though process unknowingly saving her from having a nervous breakdown. "I'll bring the blanket and you get the basket?" Lisa spoke glancing at her as she shuffled through some more books- for her restricted section
With a nod Jean glanced at the clock "yes-" realizing the time her heart pounded yet again. But not out of love but in irritation "I'm gonna be late" leaning over Jean gently kissed her lover before rushing off not before saying "I love you stay safe"
"I love you too!" Lisa called out a bit louder then usual in such a quiet space, the only exception- she always made sure to respond back everytime no matter what. With a smile and almost a skip in her step she carried on with her job.
The faster shes done the sooner shes back with her dear Jean again
-
Touching up her bangs in the glass window Lisa straightened her hat a bit before looking in her reflection, "perfect~" Lisa spoke aloud. Glancing around she thought it was a perfect day. Perfect timing too. Touching the box in her skirt pocket Lisa smiled. A slight flustered look on her face appeared, maybe it will be today?
Late. Jean is late which would be a surprise if it wasn't because she was trapped with paperwork
With a slight sigh, Lisa leaned against the wall as she waited. And her mind wandered, to the confession, a flustered Jean trying to get the words out, a playful smirk appeared on Lisa's face by the memory, one that etched itself permanently in her mind. To the first kiss, also from Jean leading- she allowed it knowing she was always so flustered with affection. Platonic or in their case not platonic it never mattered she'd always blush, but she'd always blush and smile more when it came to Lisa-which swarmed her with pride
"Sa-" something caught her attention, opening her eyes a amused but concerned Jean stood before her "I've been calling you for a while now" Jean spoke putting a hand to her forehead "I didn't leave you long enough to catch a cold did I?" She wonderd aloud bringing Jeans hand to her lips she placed a kiss watching the blush appear on her face. The steam like expression appeared to deepen from the smirk she had as she pulled away
"I didn't wait long at all Jean" Lisa spoke locking arms with her lover "and anyways I'd wait for years for you" she teased before gettign a response back she pulled her lover along side her "come now" she started "we don't have a moment to waste" smirking at the flustered look on her face, yup still got it.
Walking in a comfortably silence for a moment the two women thought about what they were going to do today, both equally as nervous as the other from the hidden plan. The cool breeze of the wind blew around then slowly. The trees rustling as it usually did as they left Mondstadt, the cheers of children and the rowdy citizens growing quieter and they ventured further away from them
"So dear" Lisa started as her hand that looped around her arm played with the end of the glove slowly drawing patterns underneath it. "How was your day?" She asked with a hum watching her expression carefully for anything- unpleasant but was pleased to find a amused look
"Well I'm glad you asked" Jean started as she thought of the days activities "today Klee not only blew up those explosives-" a slight twitch at her eyebrow indicated her annoyance for a second "she also somehow got Kaeya's eyebrow off as well" a giggle was heard from both women
"His eyebrow? How?" The thought made her laugh even harder, once she gets back home she's going to hunt him down to see it for herself
"Not sure actually" Jean spoke thinking allowed once more for a second "I just know when I entered the room Klee ran out of laughing" with a deep sigh she continued "I walked in and saw a passed out Kaeya with not a single eyebrow left behind"
Breaking into a sort laugh Lisa looked at Jean "what if Klee picks up that it made you laugh and tried to do it to you next?" A tease was shown into her words, making the other women roll her eyes in turn
With a laugh Jean gently hit Lisa's hip with the basket, "yeah, then Klee-" smiling softly, Lisa took the time to get distracted by her lovers face, the light hitting her face just perfectly. Almost engulfing her in a light hue around her, made her shine even brighter then anything she's ever seen. Etching this into her memory- she could and would listen to her talk whenever, doesn't matter the time or place.
Her voice always soothed her. Made her forget where she is, she gets lost into her voice and eyes which always shun brighter when talking about things she enjoyed like right now with- whatever she was talking about. Something in the corner of her eye moved, like a blur of some small black blob. Turning her attention real quick to what she saw, squinting her eyes to try and see better
'What is-' she thought before it became clear to her what it was. Sighing in annoyance from the interruption she stopped walking placing the blanket down on the broken dranch beside her. As soon as she stopped Jean turned to face her curiously. With a tilt of her head-which usually got the response of a tease and a kiss she saw a stern expression filled of annoyance
"Well sorry to cut this story short my love but" Lisa cut in pointing off to the on coming figure "seems like a certain someone isn't happy where here." With a heavy sigh she pulled her book out as Jean grabbed her sword out getting to stance, placing the basket beside the blanket as she did so.
"Now let's get this over with so we can get back to our date" Jean spoke sternly as she rushed forward, swiping from the side as a big axe hit downwards towards her, using the side of her sword she quickly took a deep breath as she sent air to blow floating dust and leafs into its face. Earning a deep growl
"Oh my~" Lisa started as she sent hits his way herself. The electricity dancing around her onto and into her arms spreading out almost in a memorizing way, if it weren't for the battle on hand Jean would be captivated "you know I love that Stern voice of yours~" Lisa teased as her eyes darkened "but i can't forgive anyone for disturbing a perfect day, can I?" Lisa added her almost sadistic side popping out slightly
It happened so fast- as the electricity danced around Lisa's hand before shooting- while Jean charged up her attack as well someone miscalculated. The hilichurl jumped up to do its signature slam onto one of them. As it jumped Jean behind it charged up her attack as she hit the electricity moved from the direction back to the user, "NO" hitting her right in the chest "LISA-" Jean yelled out rushing forward dropping the sword
Picking the women up Jean sprinted away as fast as she could, "I can make it" Jean spoke tears forming in her eyes, Lisa groaned deeply in pain in response. Glancing down she gently shook the wounded women "keep your eyes open" she instructed her voice cracking. 'Please I have to make it' thanking to gods as the hilichurl gave up his chase as he turned around
"J-" a cough was heard as a weak tug pulled at her shirt, "Jean put me down" Jean knew they'd never make it, no matter how much she'd try to run back home. They were to far, her legs quickly giving out falling to the grass harshly. The brunette rested against the blondes chest, her breath uneven even as she tried to calm herself down. "Its fine" she spoke tiredly
"Don't fall asleep Lisa" Jean spoke sternly-yet it was almost begging, Lisa couldn't figure out why? Groaning in pain she held her chest. Oh. That's right. Her chest got hit by her lightning. That's why it hurt so much to breath, to move. That's why Jean was crying.
Was she that hurt?
Was she.. dying?
No- that couldn't be. Lisa didn't want to leave Jean, not after asking her that important question she wanted today. What was it again? It was important but.. why couldn't she remember? Coughing spots of dark blood spilt from her mouth breaking her thoughts
"Rest Lisa" Jean cried brushing her own tears away, her hat clenched in her arm as well
Holding Lisa in her arms she broke into another sob, the box in her pocket seemed to burn much more. Worse then it ever had.
"I" Lisa gasped out- even as she tried she couldn't hide her pain even now. "I'll be f-fine." Brining a charred up glove to Jean's face brushing the tears away, Lisa smiled "its ok" she spoke more clearly
"ITS NOT" Jean choked out between sobs. Her face contorting into pain as the initial shock wore off finally. This is actually happening. Shes losing the one person she loved with her whole heart. The one person who she could be her real self around and not worry about judgement.
If only she didn't pick this day
If only she was fast enough
If only-
"Jean" a voice called out bringing her back to the present. Coughing Lisa gave a teasing smile "your d-" a pained groan broke out "doing it again" clutching her closer Lisa leaned her head against the women's chest, she smiled sadly "Jean. I- I love you so much" Lisa said sadly tears spilling out of them both
"Don't" Jean's voice cracked as she begged her to stop talking. "Rest. You'll be f-fine" her lips quivered slurring her speech
"Its" smiling once last time Lisa recalled the events she was gonna do. Proposing didn't seem like it would end in this. One leaving the other slowly, the hit she took was much worse then she let on. Bringing one last brave face on, she smiled. "Its n-not your-" almost like a cruel irony. A cruel joke. Her final breath was stolen before she could even tell her final words properly. Jean watched in horror as the light dimmed from Lisa's eyes.
A broken cry escaped the women as she clung to her lover. The bright sky seemed to mock Jean as it shun on the women in way she always adored. Two people died that day, one physical, the other mentally.
She will never see that perfect loving smile, those bright eyes ever again.
