Ygnya (cult of the lamb wool haven fanart)
I want to redraw something old cotl related!! Any suggestions?
Decided to do some fanart with Yngya and the Fanatic. Like I pointed out before, he calls the other, non-chosen gods "troublesome peers", meaning that they're equals, but...he's got issues with them. Haro is called "The Owl", he gets a title, but not called by his name. PROBABLY because the Fanatic was made that Haro gave up being a god and being about the tenets he was supposed to adhere to and spread. It would be like Superman finding out Batman or Martian Manhunter decided to stop being a superhero and just went out to go chill in a cabin. You're gonna be understandably upset by this.
But YNGYA...gets called by her actual name. Not her title. Her real name. That, to me, indicates a level of closeness. Much like how he views Chemach with reverence in multiple Ancient Tablets and is horrified and hurt at how badly she's degraded, and when he speaks of Yngya, he's clearly worried. Her being gone makes him realize that the gods are dying, or being killed around him...except for the ones who just abdicate their duties like Haro, and he refuses to. "Regardless of what they threaten, I shall never relinquish my beliefs. They call me the greatest of fanatics, and perchance this is true: for I would rather perish than sacrifice my devotion. Great Ones, I am yours eternally."
In my adaptation of the game, his name is Jourmungandr and his crown and the representation of what he stands for is Religion itself and the three tenets that make it up: Hope, Faith, and Love. The good news is those are wonderful things to have. The BAD news he also represents the DARKER aspects of religion, including fanaticism, zealotry, intolerance. He also, sadly, got horribly tortured and forced to recant by the Old Faith's bishops after he was skinned alive. Even this didn't kill him...but he wished he WAS dead, having renounced everything he once stood for and loved.
Well...not...EVERYTHING...
