“YGTL” - The Dynamates
Is it any wonder that #Prince's own ears were soothed by the sound of this silky satin voice? • • The first song @warryncampbell and I wrote together. Luck was definitely in the air. #ygtl #repost from @sidibe https://www.instagram.com/p/B2qaoAJljDJ/?igshid=ai6vfpqcrrmv
In Regards to “You’ve Got the Love” (discontinued warning)
Hey guys, GG here!
As you know, You've Got the Love has been on hiatus since about August, given that Elliott and I have been insanely busy with our own lives and other projects. However, after just touching base with him, El really wants to focus on writing original content 100% and I fully support his decision.
That being said, he will not be continuing this story with me and I cannot and will not write it without him. He's my collaboration partner to the end and this story could not have even been started without his creative genius. I am only the writer of Jack—and without Mark, this isn't a story at all.
I wanted to address that because I know this story has been followed by a lot of you, and I also wanted to share the ending of the story so that you may get some closure. I know I hate being left on a cliff-hanger for centuries, never to see the true beauty of the ending, so allow me to quickly summarize how it would've ended--
The last chapter left off with Mark experiencing some feelings he would not disclose to Jack. These feelings, as the reader would have found out, are feelings of uncertainty over the safety of the relationship. Mark is nervous about whether or not him and Jack will last long distance and begins to dread it, knowing that Jack's stay in LA has become a little too lengthy. When he brings this up to Jack, the Irishman attempts to convince him that things will work out fine and that they'll be okay. Mark remains unconvinced. Jack offers to stay longer in LA but Mark, afraid of being exposed and coming out, tells Jack that he can't stay but he also can't bear to be without him. This causes some notable tension.
The rest of the drive home is awkward and terrible in which, upon reaching the apartment, Jack attempts to excuse himself to pack, as he leaves the next morning. However, Mark stops him and attempts to “make it up to him” by sleeping with him, thinking that the only way Jack will stay with him is for him to “give him what he needs.” Though, before anything can occur beyond kissing, Jack stops him and asks if he's okay, knowing about Mark's asexuality. When Mark reveals that he isn't but wants to please Jack, Jack snaps at him and tells him off for not thinking of himself. This leads to a frantic confession from Mark, imploring Jack to let him make him happy because he loves him. It's the first time the words are spoken, which leads to Jack saying them back.
Mark decides he wants to try having sex with Jack, and so Jack tentatively agrees. However, again before anything can really get going, they realize they don't have condoms and Jack won't continue. They end up watching movies all night.
In the morning, everything proceeds as normal as it can be. Jack packs and they shower together—Mark makes breakfast and everything is sweet and lovely until they drive to the airport. No words are spoken but the tension is evident.
No words are spoken at the airport. They don't touch. They say their soft goodbyes and Mark cries when he gets back to the car and Jack sobs helplessly on the plane because he can't hold it in. Jack decides, after he's returned to Ireland, to turn off his phone and to throw himself into his work. He doesn't receive any calls or texts from Mark for a good few days.
At the same time, Mark has been overworking himself in the Grumps office, which, Danny intercepts him one night to host sort of an intervention. The two talk on the couch and Danny tries to convince Mark that Jack loves him and he needs to calm down about the whole situation. Mark can't get rid of the feeling that he isn't good enough.
He begs Danny to come home with him and he does, wherein Mark pleads with him to have sex with him. Danny, at first, laughs it off but Mark is dead serious, to which Danny tells him no, because he respects Mark and Jack more than that. Mark feels that if he gets his first time over with then he'll be able to please Jack, still not dropping the idea that Jack will leave him if he doesn't have sex with him. He thinks that's the reason Jack hasn't been talking to him. Danny further explains that even though he doesn't know Jack well, he's not that kind of person, and to give himself some time.
Feeling guilty, Mark texts Jack that he almost cheated on him.
The very next day, Jack turns back on his phone and sees the slew of missed calls and text messages, most notable of which is the cheating text. Jack calls him immediately thereafter and demands an explanation, which leads to exasperation on Jack's end. He accuses Mark of losing his cool way too easily and tells him to calm down, to which Mark rebuttals with how Jack shut him out. It ends with Jack apologizing and telling Mark he's tired, hasn't been sleeping a lot, and will call him later on Skype. Mark agrees.
When they Skype call, it's filled with more tension and after a few snips and snaps here and there, Jack and Mark agree to try and keep some semblance of communication between them to prevent future accidents.
Though, Mark is still in a bad place mentally. He ends up breaking down in front of the Grumps and tells them the whole story. Of course, they are wholly supportive of him and try to reassure him that Jack doesn't hate him.
It melds into Christmas time and Mark, when getting ready to go home for the holidays, takes impulse flight to Ireland instead. He calls Jack and tells him to come and get him and Jack, exasperated but elated at the same time, does, and Mark gets to meet Jack's family. They receive him pretty well.
Mark has a lot of explaining to do to his mom. He still hasn't come out to her. He plays Jack off as his girlfriend, promising to visit soon.
Eventually, because of their constant chit-chat and close proximity, Mark and Jack are pressured to make a “coming out” video. After some time, they do, and obviously their fans receive it well. Mark's mother begrudgingly accepts it.
With that burden off his shoulders, Mark is free to love Jack openly which Jack takes well. They never do get around to ever having sex but some really intimate situations occur between them and that's all they really need.
The two move to Korea together after some time, because living in America is too weird for Jack and living in Ireland just doesn't mix well with Mark. Korea is entirely new territory for the both of them, and with Jack loving Korea and Mark wanting to get in touch with his heritage, it works out well.
In the end, they're both pretty happy.
Hope you guys understand our reasons for not continuing, but thank you so, so much for the support that you gave us. It was so well appreciated and it made the story 10x more fun to write.
You are all great. Never forget that.
Thank you again!
