Yakuza Kiwami 2 translation (1.1)
I’ve been translating my way through Yakuza Kiwami 2 (I don’t have much of a choice, and I wanted to do this myself anyways because I can (despite how much of a pain in the ass it is). And to pick up new vocab, exercise my kanji, etc.) and I made myself write down a translation to make sure I understood what’s going on (otherwise I might let myself continue with a vague understanding and then be fuckin lost later on). So I figure I’d release it into the world in case anyone would want it. It’s not nicely polished but.. here it is. But that being said, if there’s anything straight up wrong here, PLEASE tell me. I want to know tf is going on too lol I’m gunna be following this dude’s play through, so the chunks I put out will line up with these videos. I’m only doing the cut scenes basically, sorry. Unless something outside of that catches my interest enough to thoroughly translate it for ya.. yeah.
Chapter 1, the letter of fate The start of a new year- 1980, Kamurocho, Tokyo Korean dude: It’s too late. Even if I die, the organization will still be here... Even if you know...! Take care... Of... the child...! Suspiciously detective looking dude: Don’t worry. I have nothing to do with those guys. Get out of here. Hand over the kid. Korean lady: Stay away! I won’t hand him over! Suspiciously detective looking dude: Don’t! Korean Lady: Let go! I refuse to die like this! Suspiciously detective looking dude: That child's done no wrong... But if you die trying to protect him... Suspiciously detective looking dude: It’s been over 20 years... Since that incident as well... Korean dude: It’s too late. Even if I die, the organization will still be here... Even if you know...! 2006, December 14th, Kamurocho Yuya: You’re making a scene, man! You think you’re gunna scare us with that kind of crap? Some dude: Wait. Yuya: You assholes. To come to this bar and cause problems, you must be those Chinese punks. Chinese dude: Since you already know, I’ll cut to the chase... Give me all of the shop’s money. Yuya: I don’t have a single yen to give to you fucks. If you try to take it by force... You’ll have to get through me first! Chinese dude: You have some guts.. for a Japanese! Yuya: You foreigners can’t go doing whatever the hell you want in this town! Other dude from Stardust: That was amazing! Nonetheless from you, manager. Yuya: He really made a scene here... Other dude from Stardust: A crazy incident like this happened a year ago now, wasn’t it? Yuya: I don’t want it to get like that again but... We have Kiryu-san... - - - [IT’S YA BOY KASHIWAGI-SAN] ー - -
Unnamed lil mafia dude: Boss. It looks like there was a fight out in front of Stardust. Kashiwagi: Was it the men from Kansai? Unnamed lil mafia dude: No, just some ill-mannered foreigners it seems. Kashiwagi: I see. Unnamed lil mafia dude: Should I inform the boys? Kashiwagi: Let’s leave it. Unnamed lil mafia dude: But sir, if the men don’t get any practice... Kashiwagi: I said to leave it be! Unnamed lil mafia dude: ... Yes, sir. Kashiwagi: I don’t know what kind of war that may have just instigated... Unnamed lil mafia dude: Is Kansai really advancing into Kanto? Kashiwagi: One of the Omi Alliance’s Four Kings, Terada, is now the head of the Tojo clan. Isn’t it odd that he’s from so far away as well. I don’t know if this will turn into all-out-war between Kanto and Kansai but, I don’t think that will happen any time soon. Go ahead and tell the boys. But don’t let them go and attack as they please. Unnamed lil mafia dude: Yes, sir. Kashiwagi: It all starts now, huh. Now we wait... Kiryu... If you were me... What would you do? Some dude: It’s been twenty some years since then... Ever since then, we’ve been waiting. Other dude on phone: I don’t care what you guys have been doin’ since then. Hurry up and put on a spectacular, final show, if ya would. Some dude: Don’t be so impatient. This is for dragging my friends into the darkness. We were waiting. We were waiting for the exact moment when we could get our revenge. Other dude on phone: I didn’t know it meant that much to ya. Maybe we shouldn’t be chit chattin’ like this, the line could be tapped or somethin’. Some dude: That’s not a problem. I’m a professional at this. If there was any taps, I’ve already taken care of them. Other dude on phone: Alright alright. I’ll trust ya, but you and I ain’t friends. We both just happen to want to see Kamurocho go up in flames... After this, we’re just strangers, got it? Some dude: Yeah, alright. Just give me the time. I won’t be satisfied with just a sea of flames. That’s not enough to stop my friends who died a useless death from rolling in their graves. Kazama: Forgive me... Kazuma... The one... who killed your real father... was me. Yumi: Even just one night... Even just one day... I wanted to see you one last time. My dream... Came true. Nishiki: I’m not going to let these assholes... Do whatever they want. This is the last time. I’m going to do it right. Kiryu: Stop! Don’t do it! Nishiki! Nishiki! A dream... Haruka: What’s with the scary face? Kiryu: What? Haruka? Where are you going? What are those flowers for? Haruka: I said I was going to visit her grave. Kiryu: Ah, that’s right. Haruka: Are you hungry, mister? I’m going to make breakfast soon. Kiryu: Alright, I’ll help you. Haruka: No, it’s all right! I can do it on my own. I’ve been getting better over this past year. Kiryu: That’s certainly true. - - - Terada: I can go alone from here. Dude: But sir.. If the Kansai men were planning an ambush... Terada: This’s a place where people’s souls are resting. To spill blood here would be gross misconduct. Dude: But sir, Kashiwagi himself said we can’t have any slip-ups, so... Terada: I’m goin’ alone. There’s someone I want to talk to one-on-one. Dude: Keep your weapons at the ready, boys. Boys: Yes, sir! Haruka: Mom.. It’s Haruka. I go shopping, make dinner.. Mister Kiryu and I are having fun together, so rest easy, okay? Kiryu: Oyasan.. I wonder why I’m the only one still here. But, the honest life I have now... I intend to raise Haruka well. Terada: Fourth Chairman. Kiryu: Terada.. Terada: It’s been a while. Kiryu: Coming here alone was kind of careless of you. Terada: My men are waiting just over there. I wanted to talk to the fourth chairman, no matter the risk. Kiryu: You don’t have to call me that. I’m leading an honest life now. So, what did you want to talk about? Terada: Actually, it looks like I might be doin’ the sake ritual with Goda from the Omi Alliance. Kiryu: The sake ritual? Terada: It looks like that’s the only way to stop an all-out-war now... Kiryu: So the Tojo Clan’s become this desperate for a solution, huh... Terada: The Tojo Clan’s been on shaky ground ever since that incident one year ago. If we fight again, a lot of blood will be spilled, and the Omi Alliance will take over the Tojo Clan. I want to avoid anythin’ like that from happenin’... Kiryu: You and Chairman Goda are on another level... I don’t think anyone over there will accept that narrative. Terada: I appreciate everything ya’ve done, but... Kiryu: Terada. You’re the Fifth Chairman of the Tojo Clan. I’m a civilian, I have no place in this. Terada: As the former chairman, how would you overcome this crisis? Please, I want to hear your thoughts on the matter, Fourth Chairman. Kiryu: What the hell do you think you’re doing? Leader of the assholes who shot Terada: We came... To retrieve Terada’s head. Kiryu: So you’re the guys the people from Kansai sent huh... Leader of the assholes who shot Terada: The Tojo Clan’s bodyguards are pretty shitty defense men. Terada: Men from my own family... Leader of the assholes who shot Terada: We’re just makin’ our lives easier over here. Terada: What? Leader of the assholes who shot Terada: This is a graveyard. This way, we don’t have to carry your corpse anywhere. Kiryu: Take Haruka and run. Terada: Are ya sure... Kiryu: You’ve already been shot... And the future of the Tojo Clan rests on your shoulders. I’m your opponent now. I’ll teach you punks how a real Yakuza does business
- - - Kiryu: Are you okay? Terada: It just grazed me. Kiryu: Terada...! Terada: Take this... It’s for Fourth Chair Goda of the Omi Alliance. Kiryu: What are you...? Terada: You ‘an me are different people, Kiryu... I fully believe... This is best for the Tojo Clan’s future. I leave this... to you... Kiryu: TERADA...! Terada...! Terada...! Haruka: Terada-san... Kiryu: Stay with us! Terada! Haruka: Terada-san...! Ambulance worker: I’m so sorry... We won’t know until we arrive at the hospital but.. It was likely due to excessive bleeding. Haruka: It’s... been a while since I’ve been to Himawari. ...You have some important work to do, right? Once you get that done... Can come get me, okay? Lady: “I, the Fifth Chairman of the Tojo Clan, Terada Yukio, oath brother to the fifth Chairman of the Omi Alliance, Goda, with this, I wish for the long-standing feud to find it’s end. - [It’s ya girl Yayoi Dojima fillin in the top spot for Tojo at the moment] - Dude: How the hell can we know for sure if the Kansai people wrote that letter or not!? Temporary Chairman! Kashiwagi: Calm yourself! Dude: Does he really want us to go on their truff- the men who killed our boss- and drink sake with them!? The hell’s wrong with him. This isn’t some kind of joke! Kashiwagi: What do you plan to do about it then? Dude: Answer blood with blood. That’s the Yakuza way! Dude 2: Brother. If you go ahead and do whatever you god damn please without thinking, you’re going to be sorry. Dude: What did you just say? Dude 2: Going to war requires a lot of cash. Dude: All you talk about is money, money, money. That’s not how a real Yakuza acts! Yayoi: Silence! You plan on going to Kansai, right? Kiryu: That’s the promise I made to the Fifth Chairman. Mrs.Dojima.. This matter.. I’d like it if you would entrust it with me. Kashiwagi: Kiryu... Yayoi: You think it’s better that we avoid all-out-war as well, right? Kiryu: Yes ma’am. Kashiwagi: I don’t think anyone over there will accept that narrative but.. Kiryu: I realize that. However, this is Terada’s will. Yayoi: If you’re careless, you’ll be killed. Kiryu: I’ve already decided.. I’ll go. Yayoi: ... You don’t plan to off Chairman Goda, do you? Kiryu: It depends on how they approach this. Yayoi: You... Are you still fixated about Dojima’s killing 11 years ago? Is it about what Nishiyama did? That’s not your fault. Kiryu: Nishiki is... He’s been with me since we were kids. Our bond was stronger than even blood relatives. Nishiki’s mistakes are mine as well. Yayoi: Even if I told you not to... You probably wouldn’t listen. Kiryu: I’m sorry. Yayoi: Understood. I’ll leave this to you. Dude: Are you for real? Dude 2: Mrs.Dojima, are you sure about this? Dude: This is the Omi Alliance we’re talking about here! idk which dude it is anymore but dude: Please think more carefully about this! Yayoi: Didn’t you hear? Kiryu is putting his life on the line for the Tojo Clan. Anyone who has an issue with that can step forward now. Anyone who interrupts our discussion regarding the sake ritual will not see the light of day again. This could mean all-out-war between the east and the west! You’re fine with this as well then, right? Kiryu: Yes ma’am. I have one request, though. Yayoi: What is it? Kiryu: Before I leave, there’s someone I need to see. Yayoi: Who’s that? Kiryu: Daigo Dojima. Chief Dojima... Your son. Yayoi: Why? Kiryu: Terada died.. And so the Tojo Clan lost a pillar of support. Now is the time to rebuild the Tojo Clan. No one else but him can do it. He’s a man who would never be swayed by violence or politics. The Tojo Clan needs a man like him right now. Yayoi: Is that your intention, not to follow his will? Kiryu: Even if I do as it says, it won’t matter. Yayoi: You.. Kiryu: For those reasons, I absolutely have to see Daigo before I leave for Kansai. Yayoi: I don’t think that’s a good idea. Kiryu: Why’s that? Yayoi: Daigo’s not the same child he once was. Kiryu: What happened?
