Something I’ve been reflecting on tennish years into adulthood is:

If you spend time making it so that you know something, that can wind up being useless knowledge, even if you go on to work in the field you studied for. But if you learn how to do something that people need doing or even just appreciate it when it’s done, that’s never really wasted, wherever life takes you - in fact, if you don’t wind up doing it professionally, that can be its own USP, of a sort.

A lot of people couldn’t pay a full-time professional to sing at their wedding, and my nursing school dropout friend has brought immense value to my life and those of others via his nursing skills - specifically in situations where there was no way they would get that level of time and attention from a busy, stressed, on-the-job nurse.

i'm so glad i chose to move to london. it's been almost exactly a year now, i think it was a year last weekend? it's sometimes difficult, obviously, it's fucking expensive, i've kinda had to build a support network up pretty much from scratch (and just be quite resilient at keeping going in the process), and it's not the easiest to settle socially in, tho that's been going better recently. but i really just want to use my life to have experiences, and i can't think of a better place to do it. it's vast, and its constantly changing, and it really is beautiful.

Tbh I'd never had an IV before this and to anyone else who has never had an IV put in and had to keep an IV port in for multiple days in an outpatient setting:

It is sore and tender and pokey. Do your best to sleep with the arm it's in extended and unflexed. Ask if you can have self adhering bandages to rewrap it yourself if it's at your elbow, because the bandage really loves to roll down when you bend your arm.

And ask for it in your non dominant arm. I had mine in my right arm for 3 days and it was a lot harder to cope with than if it had been in my left.

Also extending your elbow straight, and holding your arm above you or at an angle behind you while laying down helps (or at least helped me) relieve the pain if it's feeling pokey. (example of this is laying with your head 6 to 12in away from a wall / headboard, reaching your arm up straight, and then reaching back until you can brace against the wall with your hand/finger tips)

That was honestly some of the most physically difficult parts of this because it was much harder to ignore as neither of the pain medications I was given relieved the pain of the iv port.

Hmm, you read Jensen's full quote about the prayer scene, and he makes it sound like he made it more emotional, more pleading, more of what it was as a final product, without Dean himself getting emotional about the emotions he was experiencing. I wonder what the original dialogue said, hmmm.

When we start working up the dialog, it’s sometimes like, you know what, that just doesn’t sound right, it looks right on paper but it doesn’t sound right, it doesn’t flow. So you change the word or lose the line all together. A lot of the time, we don’t have writers on the set, we don’t even have producers on the set, that’s how self sufficient we’ve become, which may or may not be a good thing. So Jared and I have to take things into our own hands, we’ll call down south and ask if they can come up with some different dialogue, we just can’t wrap our heads around it, it doesn’t sound right, and they’re like absolutely, let us get on it, give us a few minutes to work something out. But often we don’t have time, now that we’ve said it out loud, it just doesn’t feel right, and Jared and I will just change it. So I was like Dan, you’re here, I’m getting hung up on this or I think this would be more powerful this way. I think it was more like that, I had the idea that it needed to be a little more emotional, a little bit more kinda pleading, so he and I just sat there for like 10 minutes while they were setting up the shot and just spitballed a few things. It’s hard to be emotional without being emotional. If you recall I didn’t get really emotional, but that’s good writing and directing. (x)
