Jeff Austin Hospitalized; Former YMSB Mates Ask for Prayers
Yonder Mountain String Band co-founder Jeff Austin on Saturday cancelled three upcoming festival appearances citing a “medical emergency.”
Jeff Austin Band sets at ROMP, Back Home Appalachian Arts & Music Festival, and Smoky Run Music Festival are off.
“Thanks for your understanding and continued support,” he said on Facebook.
His former YSMB mates said on Facebook Austin was hospitalized and painted a more dire picture later that evening when they dedicated “Half Moon Rising” to the mandolinist and addressed rumors about Austin’s condition.
“And what we can say is that he is still with us,” Ben Kaufmann said, per Jambase.
“What is appropriate right now: if you’re a prayer, send prayers his way. If you’re a lover, send love his way. If you’re a healer, send energy his way.”
Austin’s next scheduled performance is July 27 at Colorado’s RockyGrass Festival.
