Science may seem clean, sterile and cold to begin with, but the deeper you go, the darker and the wetter it gets until you discover something glistening and visceral waiting for you.
If there's not already a modern Xicheng AU where Xichen is a yoga teacher and Jiang Cheng is his new super uptight student... Well there should be or else I'll consider writing it myself. Picturing equal parts disaster and equal parts impressive JC in yoga class is giving me life.
Let the sun nurture you... and breathe
Today I thought about detachment. Letting go of identities that do not serve me. For example, I will try to think “I have depression” instead of “I am depressed.” My mental health does not define my character, though I won’t say it doesn’t influence or color my behavior or the way I perceive the world. I want to be able to feel something without attaching to it. I want to let go of fears and sadness and intrusive thoughts. I struggle a lot with letting things that happened to me make me sad or anxious. I want to work on letting go, even though trauma is hard to let go of. The things we do to survive stick around, even when we don’t need them. I think today’s yoga practice was good and even though I keep pulling the five of pentacles from different decks at different times, in different spreads, I think it means I have to keep trying to heal. I think maybe it will go away when I’m on the right path to healing.
Your earth, your mother,
She holds you. She pulls you closer, envelops you in her love.
You are held,
In every moment of your life.
"Self-trust, we know, is the first secret of success." - Lady Wilde One of the most valuable things yoga taught me is to trust my Self. Self- that Thing/Soul/Conciousness that is beyond your body and mind, that can observe both without getting tangled up in either. Most of us have forgotten how to listen to or connect with our Selves. We are so caught up in everything going on, as if we have been swept away by a giant wave. Yoga, then, is like a lifeboat. It is a tool you use to drag yourself out of the current and float on top. You still feel the waves rolling underneath, but you're no longer drowning. Visit www.stretchgoals.com for more info!
