This is Josephine’s umbilical cord. When she was in utero, we were told during an ultrasound that her cord was irregular. Of course, Steve and I were every emotion of worried, scared, nervous. It was so difficult to not think of the worst possible outcome; all before meeting our baby for the first time. The doctors said we could do more tests, but nothing would change her cord. So like families before the dawn of ultrasound, we waited until her birth as all her other vitals were normal throughout pregnancy. Luckily, Josie made her way into the world with no illness or disease! What great full parents we were. 🙏🏼 Unfortunately, families around the world aren’t always so lucky. Cancer + chronic illness aren’t bias when it comes to children. And this is why I organized the #nwyogaofhope as part of a global charity event created by @yoga_girl and @yogaofhope to erase childhood cancer. If you are in the #portland area, please join me this Saturday Nov 18th from 10:30-12pm @elkrockyoga for some gentle yoga with live acoustic music by @thecultivatedawesome We will co-create positive, healing energy for all families going through illness with their kids. Proceeds will go directly to @yogaofhope to aid in research that can bring an end to childhood cancer. All ages are welcome. No Yoga experience needed. #pdxnow #11182017 #childrencancerawareness #yogaofhope #elkrockyoga (at Elk Rock Yoga)
