Thinking about writing an AU where Merlin and Morgana are trapped in a time loop, forced to relive the same events until they figure out how to save Camelot and each other...

Prompt: forehead kisses but it's the male being kissed on the forehead For Mergana

To the person who requested this, I am so sorry. I forgot about it. That is my only excuse.... It's not exactly what you asked for, but it has Mergana and forehead kisses.

“Morgana, help! The monster is going to eat me!”

The woman in question heard her husband voice and already knowing what was going, she briefly contemplated if she should abandon the task at hand and rush to his rescue.

In all honesty, that did seem rather interesting than making dinner.

“HELP!” Merlin screamed again and that sealed it for Morgana. She set the knife aside and washed her hands under the sink before heading to the living room where her husband and daughter were playing.

Their three-year old daughter was wearing the Halloween custom her father had bought for her earlier that day.

A dragon…

Jessi just loved those mythical creatures and Merlin could hardly deny his daughter anything so he surprised her with it.

Merlin was lying on the floor with Jessi on top of his chest trying her best to ‘eat’ him which was just her planting kissed to his face-his cheeks, his nose, his forehead- and the side of his neck…

Morgana smiled broadly at the sight, a laugh escaped her lips. It alerted those two of her presence.

“Help me, dearest wife, for only you know how to save me from this cute monster!”

All right, she could certainly play along. She quirked up an eyebrow, “Do I know? What must I do?”

“I am a dragon, you cannot win.” Jessi announced, but the quivering in her voice betrayed her confidence.

“You must tickle her,” Merlin said, feigning shortness of breath. As if he was actually losing to the dragon.

Tickles?  That was the dragon’s weakness?

Really, her husband could be quite creative sometimes.

Jessi froze when she heard that… Her face morphing into shock. “Oh no,” she whimpered in a small voice, “… not tickles.”

It was an Oscar-worthy performance the way her daughter swiftly jumped off her father’s chest and ran as quickly as her little legs could carry her to the far side of the living-room and then declaring, “You shall never tickle me!” before ‘flying away’.

“We have defeated the monster!”

“I hardly did anything.” Morgana said as she approached him.

Merlin pushed himself off the floor and sat on the nearest sofa. “Well, I called out for help and my saviour arrived.”

“Saviour? Oh, no…” Her lips curled up into a smirk as she took a seat next to him. “I am not your saviour…”

 Merlin frowned, not understanding what she meant. “You’re not?”

“I am the mother of the dragon.”

The look of surprise on his face quickly dissolved as her lips found his.

Angst, 40 “I’m not ready to lose you”, Mergana

This one is rushed and I had this idea for 8 years and instead of writing the whole thing, I did this and I hate it.

I had another prompt with "forehead kisses but it's the male being kissed on the forehead"

I hope you like it :

The past few days had been- honestly Morgana didn’t know how quite to put it, unnerving didn’t seem like the correct way to describe what she had experienced.

When Morgana had come up with her plan to use Merlin to kill Arthur, this situation right now had not been foreseen. She didn’t expect that she would feel her unborn child move under her palm or witness her future husband trying to kill her.

It was a long story and it had all started when the future version of herself came crashing through the door of her hovel. She was covered in sweat, dirt and blood.

All that didn’t shock her as much as the fact that the other woman was heavily pregnant.

“Ah, no,” had passed through her lips when her eyes registered the sight of Morgana holding the  Fomorroh in her hand with the intent of inserting it under Merlin’s skin. “I need your help, please,” came next. Her tone quivering clearly reflecting the state she was in.

For a moment, she wasn’t sure who F.Morgana was pleading to. Her or Merlin.

Morgana didn’t even get the chance to say anything before the older Morgana rushed out.

Things progressed rather fast after that.

Something deep inside of her told her to trust the other woman. That the latter was indeed her but few years older. It was just a feeling that took over her the moment they locked gaze.

She couldn’t explain it and she ran after her ignoring Merlin’s cry to let him help them.

It turned out that there was a man laying not far from her hovel and he appeared to be injured.

Was he the father of the unborn child?

F.Morgana was crouching next to him, her hands pressed against a wound on the left side of his chest. Blood was pouring out.

At least now she knew the source of the blood on the other one’s clothes. It didn’t make feel less unease but it was reassuring to know that she wasn’t bleeding in her fragile state.

Merlin appeared next her and he helped her carry the man inside and onto her bed.

She didn’t even think to ask how he managed to free himself.

The injured man looked familiar but she could not quite remember where she had seen him before. Not to mention that he was young. Too young to be the father. But she didn’t dare ask.

They had to save his life first.

Moments later, F.Morgana winced and then she proceeded to faint on them. Luckily, Merlin was standing next to her and he grabbed her before she landed on the floor.

Did Morgana panic when she saw the other woman lying motionless next to the injured man?

Yes, she most certainly did and she had no idea why.

She felt completely and utterly hopeless and she simply froze.

There were two unconscious people on her hands and she didn’t know which one to attend to.

Once again, Merlin was there to snap her out of it. “She’s alright. She is simply tired. You need to heal him.”

“Are you certain?” She asked him.

He nodded his head and she rushed to the other side of the bed and ripped open the shirt to get a better look at the wound.

It was hours later, when F.Morgana had the chance to eat and regain her strength that the whole story was finally revealed to them.

The man that Morgana had healed earlier was Mordred and he had gotten hurt trying to protect her.

Had she been paying attention to Merlin; she would have seen the way his whole body had tensed when he heard the name.

Apparently, there was an evil sorcerer that was seeking to end the Pendragon’s bloodline. He had already killed Arthur and now, he was after her and the child she was carrying.

F.Morgana had no idea how they ended up at that time or close to the hovel, all that she knew was that she and Mordred no longer had their magic which was why she needed Morgana’s aid to heal Mordred’s wound.

It was Merlin that finally asked the question that had been nagging her for a while now, “Where is your husband?”

“Who do you think is trying to kill her?” It was Mordred that answered, taking both of them by surprise.

“Why?”

“He was enchanted,” F.Morgana replied, sadness palpable in her voice. “We don’t know if it was a spell or something else. He is too powerful and we never managed to capture him long enough to reverse what was done.”

The attack happened late during the night while Merlin- who for some reason still have not escaped- along with Mordred and herself were all siting around the table, dining.

F.Morgana was sitting on the bed, too tired to join them.

One moment she was trying to get Mordred to reveal few things about her future, (he was adamant on not telling her anything) and the next an older Merlin had his hands around her throat and was chocking the life out of her.

Which brought her here, standing by the far corner of her hovel, eyes filled with tears and watching her older self cradling the older Merlin in her arms. She could smell his blood, feel the weakness of his body on the pained face of F.Morgana. Blood was everywhere. It was Merlin that had put an end to his attack when he thrusted a dagger through the older one’s abdomen.

“I’m not ready to lose you,” She cried into her husband’s neck, “Not after everything we have been through. Not like this, please.” She leaned down and pressed a kiss to his forehead, her hand buried in his hair.

“You have to let him go, Morgana. He cannot be stopped and it’s his life mission to kill you. He needs to die.” Mordred said, Morgana hated his cold tone.

“No, I can’t lose him,” F.Morgana refused to listen to him. “We can find another way....”

“There is another way, I know someone who can help or know how to stop it all,” Merlin chimed in, surprising her.

“Who?” She asked, what could Merlin possibly do.

“Emrys,” F.Morgana glanced up, hope filling her eyes. “Maybe Kilgharrah might know what’s happening to him and how to stop it.”

Merlin knew Emrys. All this time, she had been searching for him and Merlin knew all along.

How stupid could she be?

“We should heal him and keep him unconscious until I find Emrys.”

“Yeah, we can do that,” F.Morgana sniffed, her gaze was filled with hope rather than sorrow this time.

And of course, she was the one that was supposed to heal him. “I will go you.” Morgana told them.

“No,” everyone, except for older Merlin, interjected at the same time.

For some reason, she knew that she could not protest.

Summary: Morgana grunted, unsatisfied with the chastity of the kiss. She wrapped her hands around the collar of his nightshirt and pulled him towards her. Merlin couldn't object even if he tried. Her lips covered his in a long warm kiss that left them both short of breath. "I missed you..." She hummed, pressing her lips to his again. "...a lot."

Merlin gently twisted the doorknob. He was careful not to make the slightest of noise, unwilling to wake the person sleeping inside.

Still, the chamber’s door creaked on its hinges when he pulled it open. Merlin cringed, sending a quick look towards the bed. Luckily, the person continued to sleep undisturbed.

He sighed in relief and using a wordless spell, he fixed the hinges. He wondered briefly why he hadn't done that before.

But then again, he never had to sneak in like that.

This was all new to him.

That thought brought a smile to his lips.

Once the door was shut close, he tiptoed towards the bed.

Moonlight filtered in through the window and played across Morgana's delicate features. She was breath-taking.

She was lying on her side, facing him. She was occupying the middle of the mattress. Merlin shook his head, chuckling at the sight of her. At least she wasn't sprawling out on it (his natural sleeping position) otherwise, he would have needed to retire back to Gaius' chamber. Which was not something he really wanted to do.

Merlin lifted the bed-sheets and slowly got under them and rested his head on the pillow and stared at the ceiling.

Morgana's voice was raspy, "You're back."

Merlin turned his head her way, her eyes were filled with sleep. He curled onto his side so he could look at her. properly

"I didn't mean to wake you." He leaned forward and pressed a light kiss to her lips.

Morgana grunted, unsatisfied with the chastity of the kiss. She wrapped her hands around the collar of his nightshirt and pulled him towards her. Merlin couldn't object even if he tried. Her lips covered his in a long warm kiss that left them both short of breath. "I missed you..." She hummed, pressing her lips to his again. "...a lot."

Gathering her in his arms, he pulled her close. The feel of her soft lips against his was both infuriating and placating, "I've only been gone for three days." He pointed out with a smile.

She eased her hold, her fingers releasing the fabric of his shirt. She collapsed back on the bed, but she kept her eyes on him. "I don't believe there's a fixed period of time during which a wife isn't allowed to miss her husband."

Despite himself, Merlin breathed out a laugh. "That is not what I meant." Morgana was pouting at him, but he could detect the small smile that touched the corners of her mouth. "I missed you too, Morgana..." he said earnestly, "...a lot."

With that said, her smile widened and eyes brightened. She lifted herself up. It was like a second instinct to Merlin by now as he laid on his back and Morgana rested her head on his chest.

"How's Hunith?" She asked, mindlessly brushing her fingertips against the exposed skin of his collar bone.

He tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear, "She's fine."

He could sense the tension radiating off her. She craned her neck back so she looked at him properly. His gaze dropped to her face and his brows lifted. Her eyes asking the question she still hadn't dared to ask him yet.

"She knows now." Merlin said softly.

Morgana heaved in a deep breath, "And?"

"And what?"

"What did you tell her exactly?"

He shrugged a shoulder, "I told her that I have secretly got married to a lady of the court who is in fact, Camelot's illegitimate princess whose sister is trying to seek her help to conceive a plan to kill the king and the crown prince."

Morgana pinched him and he yelped. "I did not tell my mother that of course. I left that part unsaid."

"Which one?"

"The one about marrying you."

He gave her a sly smile which she didn't appreciate in the slighted. And she conveyed her irritation with his cheekiness by pinching harder this time.

Still, despite the pain, a haughty laugh escaped through his lips. "I'm just joking."

"Well, don't. I'm serious, Merlin. What did she say?"

He had wondered all the way back to Camelot whether he should tell Morgana what his mother had blurted out. But knowing that sooner or later, Morgana would find out, Merlin decided he should just be honest with his wife. "She asked if you were expecting."

Morgana furrowed her brow. It was cute how slow-witted she rarely could be. "Expecting what?"

"A child." His tone was serious.

Morgana gasped and sat up. She stared at him, a horrified expression on her face. "You can't be serious!"

Merlin mimicked her and sat on the bed as well, he crossed his legs. "I really am serious. She thought the only reason you agreed to marry was because I defiled you or something..." Morgana's eyes widened further at the use of that word, she didn't like it. Neither did he. "...it was a very scary thing to experience."

It really was.

Merlin sighed and reached for her hands, "I told her the truth, Morgana. I told her that we love each other and that the only reason we wanted it to keep it a secret was because Uther would have my head if he found out about it. And she will get grandchildren only when Arthur is king."

Morgana nodded, but he could see that she was still uneasy about the whole conversation. "So what now?"

"Now we sleep." Merlin told her, squeezing her hands gently, "You get to meet your mother-in-law first thing in the morning."

"We're going to Ealdor?" Morgana asked, confused.

Merlin shook his head. "No. My mother didn't believe me. She thinks you're with a child. She came to Camelot with me just to make sure I'm telling the truth."

Morgana quirked her eyebrows up, "What? This is not happening. This is horrible news"

"Why would you say that?"

"Because I am with a child." She exclaimed.

In retrospect, it was funny that he fainted considering she was just trying to get back at him for what he said earlier.

Merlin couldn't help the small smile that tugged up the corners of his lips.

He was sitting down, leaning his back against a tree, watching as the children played unbothered.

From a hundred paces off came a sound of general, merry laughter.

Merlin made sure to stay out of sight but he was close enough to react should anything foul happen.

Arthur and Gwen regarded their kids, smiles warming their eyes.

It had been the queen’s idea to leave the castle and spend the day by the lake. The children needed a way to burn out all the excessive energy they’d accumulated from being stuck for too long in the castle and the parents needed a day off from their usual duties as king and queen.

They just needed to spend a day together, as a family. Which was why Merlin was keeping away from them. He shouldn’t be there but he just couldn’t take the risk of leaving them unattended.

“Aren’t they adorable!”

Merlin tensed, not sensing her approach. He tilted his head up to the left to meet her.

Morgana didn’t waste time as she crouched down next to him. Their shoulders were touching. She turned her head to face him, her usual smirk playing across full, pink lips. “Fancy meeting you here, Merlin!”

He didn’t know how to respond to her. He didn’t expect to see her there or anywhere close. “What are you doing here?”

Morgana just shrugged, her smirk didn't waver, “I’m here for you of course. I just wasn’t aware of their presence .” She dismissively gestured to where the happy family was at.

“So you didn’t follow them here?” He shifted to the left so there was more space between them.

Morgana noticed this and she lifted an eyebrow. “No. I followed you.”

“Why?”

“I was bored.” Was all she said before her gaze darted towards the scene up ahead.

Her expression became reflective as he continued to regard her.

He wished he could know what was going through her mind.

Would she tell him, if he asked her?

The silence lasted for about a minute.

“Is that what you do when you’re bored?” Merlin finally asked and Her brows came down into a barely visible frown. “Follow people around, I mean?”

“I could ask you the same thing?” She asked in a measured tone.

Merlin shook his head and cleared his throat. “It’s not the same th-”

“Have you brought something with you?” She cut him off and leaned forward and reached for the bag he had on his right side. Her breasts brushed against his arm and Merlin shivered. “I’m hungry.”

She brought the bag to her and started to rummage through its content. She only found bread. “That’s it?” She pouted and disposed of the bag on his lap.

If he had known that she’d be joining him, he would have brought a few more things with him.

Merlin put the bag back where it had been. She started to take a bite and then stopped. She looked at him for a brief moment. Her gaze was calculating and then she broke the bread in two and gave him half.

Without a word, Merlin accepted it.

They ate in silence, their eyes on the children but Merlin was sure their minds were elsewhere.

He knew his was.

“I envy them.” Morgana said and continued to chew. “Aren’t you?”

Merlin didn’t stop to think, “No.”

Morgana gave him a look. She didn’t believe him. “Not even a bit? Do you not wish to have what Arthur has? A wife? Children of your own?”

Of course, he wanted that. He wanted a wife who loved him unconditionally. A child that called him father instead of uncle Merlin. A child who Merlin would make them laugh and teach them all the things he wished his father had taught him.

He wanted someone other than Gaius to greet him at the end of the day. Merlin wanted someone he could hold and bury his head in her hair.

He wanted a lot of things.

But it wasn’t easy.

“Of course, I do.” He answered in a forlorn tone. His gaze shifted away from her. If only she knew that the person he wanted was already sitting there next to him. “I just fear what you might do to them. You’d do anything to get back at me.”

“You can always marry me to avoid that.”

“Don’t be absurd, Morgana. That’ll never happen.” Merlin just laughed at her.

Feeling hurt by what he said, the smile faded from her lips and the twinkle left her eyes. She abandoned what was left of the bread to the side. “Is it really that bad? Being married to me?”

Merlin pursed his lips, “You’re the one who said no, Morgana.” He scratched the back of his neck. “I want you…you know that. But I can’t force you into anything. You said what we’ve done was a mistake yet we kept doing it. To me, it’s not a mistake, it never was…” He took a deep breath, “I know you don’t want to hear it, but I want to start a family of our own...perhaps one day."

Her nod was hesitant. “Arthur will never allow it. They will exile you.”

“Arthur already knows.” Merlin simply said.

Morgana’s eyes widened in utter shock. “What? Is that why you're lurking here? Watching them from afar?”

“I’m here because I chose you.” he reached for her hand. Their eyes met for a moment... piercing blue eyes meeting startled green eyes in a battle of nerves. “I hope you’ll have me.”

A misunderstanding

Summary:

"How many times have you done this before?" "Two, maybe three times." Merlin answered. He sounded exasperated, "But, I know the basics." "Clearly you don't..." Arthur felt his stomach churn. This one was hard. I hope you'll like it.

36. "You're the first person I think about when I wake up."

Merlin yawned and wiped the sleep from his eyes.

It was getting really late and they were nowhere near close to discovering the cure for the sickness that was sweeping over Camelot.

Inhaling deeply, he looked up from the book he was reading and found Morgana watching him with wearily. "Anything?" He asked her.

She shook her head in dismay, "No and I don't think we'll find anything in these books, Merlin." She close the book she had and leaned back, "It's dark magic that's causing it. We need-"

He eyed her sternly. "Morgana."

Morgana rolled her eyes and stood up. "I still have the books Morgause left me back at my hovel. We can retrieve them. They might help us in our search."

Merlin pushed the book away from him. His gaze became wary and he spoke softly. "We've discussed this before, Morgana. We don't need them."

He already knew that the illness was caused by some sort of ancient dark spell. They had come to the conclusion three days ago after failing to find any traces of a cure in one of Gaius' books. But he simply couldn't afford to have Morgana near those books again. Not that he didn't trust her. Far from it.

It was because not everyone in Camelot trusted Morgana. They feared her and didn't believe that she had changed. She wasn't that heartless woman that had ordered her knights to attack the innocents any more. The memory of that day was hard to erase. Not even Morgana was able to remove it from her own memory.

And Merlin didn't want to gave these people any reasons to solidify their claim. If they were to find such books in her possession, they would surely accuse her of being responsible for what was happening to Camelot now.

"But we really do, Merlin." Morgana argued, throwing her hands up in the air in exasperation. "These books are useless and Gaius couldn't find anything in the library...." She grabbed the nearest book and tossed on the top the others that piled on top of the table "Not even the druids were of help to us. How long would you think it'll take before reaches the city. This is not the time for uncertainty nor of fear."

She was right. Of course, she was. However, despite what his friends might think, her life was important to him and he couldn't take such a risk.

"I don't know, Morgana. Perhaps, we won't find anything in your books as well."

After brief hesitation, she spoke. "We cannot be certain of that, not before we read what's in them."

Merlin clamped his jaws together and silently watched her, wondering why she still hadn't commented on his constant refusal before he responded. "I'll think about it."

A slow smile worked its way across her face and into her eyes. "Really?" She rushed to him and rose on her tiptoes as if to kiss him. "We can leave in the morning."

Merlin cupped Morgana's face with his hands to kiss her lightly on the lips, "All I said was that'd think about it."

"You can think about it now."

"It's late and we are both tired." Merlin pointed out.

She once more closed the distance between them, leaning forward to kiss him. "Then, first thing in the morning."

"Can't," He responded to her kiss, savoring the sweet taste and softness of her warm lips. "You're the first person I think about when I wake up."

He deepened the kiss, thrilled when she responded by becoming more demanding, more passionate.

"Didn't you just say that you're tired?" She said breathlessly, her blush was developing into a burning flame.

Merlin leaned forward to capture her lips again, "Too tired to read another book but never too tired to make love to my wife."

It was heartbreaking seeing him like this.

A shell of his old self. The two halves that made him. The half that she had known as the loyal servant of Arthur and the other half that she never got the chance to meet. Not that disguise, not that old man persona that he morphed into to hide his true identity from her.

But Emrys.

Her destiny and her doom.

That great man was now sitting by a fire in a chamber in her own castle, wearing clothes that she had given him. Eating the food that she cooked.

And he was broken. Beyond repair.

Morgana had hoped that he’d get better by now. It had been over six months since she had rescued him from Sarrum.

Yet, Merlin didn’t show any sign of improvement.

He still had not spoken a single word to her ever since that day. The day he regained consciousness and realized that she had saved him from that dark pit. “Thank you” Had been all that he had said... his voice had been so small, so faint.

From that day on, he was always quiet.

Yes, physically he was much better. He had gradually regained his health. It had been a tiring task for him at first. Feeding himself.

His muscles had been too weak from the lack of use and he ached all over.

And despite how angry she had been at that time, she had helped him. She showed him the kindness he once deprived her of.

She had tended to the wounds that covered his chest and back. Some of them healed completely but most, sadly, faded into dark scars.

It was a miracle he didn't die from infection.

It was a miracle he lasted as long as he had. Two years down there.

For two years, he had been trapped like an animal. Buried in a hole but provided with a bare minimum to stay alive.

Just so that they could torture him for another day.

Unfathomable cruelty.

A movement from the corner of her eye caught her attention. Morgana turned her head and watched as the white dragon entered the room. She made her way straight to Merlin who greeted her with a smile. Merlin might not speak to Morgana but he was definitely speaking to that dragon. Just not vocally.

Morgana envied their bond. But nevertheless, seeing his face lighten up like that, brought a smile to her own lips.

She could still remember the day these two reunited. The way his eyes filled with tears and how he couldn't control the sobs that ravaged his body.

It had been the white dragon that first alerted her to Merlin's predicament. Well, if Morgana wanted to be technical, it was the great dragon who had found out about Merlin and it was the small one's idea to seek Morgana's help despite Kilgharrah's continuous objections.

One day, she would tell Merlin how her first encounter with that giant lizard was like.

The seer watched as the dragon and her lord conversed. She didn't know what they were talking about but sometimes she suspected that the creature brought him news.

News about Camelot and its king.

A king who, perhaps, had left his friend to suffer. Morgana couldn't blame Arthur though if that was the case, only a fool would start a war with Amata.

Morgana didn't want to intrude on them any longer. They had already dined and it was getting late so it was time to leave them.

She pushed her chair back and got to her feet. "I think I'll retire for the night." She announced, gathering the book that she'd been reading. She'd continue reading it in the comfort of her own chamber.

The look that washed over Merlin's face was hard to decipher. He simply nodded his head.

Was it too much to ask for a simple good night?

Apparently, it was.

She was almost at the door when she heard it.

"Stay." He said in a croaky voice.

Slowly, Morgana turned, her features displaying her obvious shock.

Did she hear that right?

"What?" Morgana couldn't help but ask.

Merlin stood up and hesitated, his expression pensive. "It feels..." he gulped, not looking at her as if it was hard for him to say the thing he was about to say, "...safer when you're here."

Was it because of his nightmares?

Did he know that she already knew about them?

It was hard not to, of course.

You couldn't survive such an ordeal without being affected by it. She had witnessed them during the nights she had stayed up attending to him.

But his nightmares had been getting better lately, at least that was what she thought.

Was she mistaken?

"Why?" Probably, it was not the right thing to ask but she asked it anyway.
