*grabs the microphone* “So the Yogs timeline is basically a pretzel at this point BUT multiple clones of the same people existing out in the world at one time really started after the clone labs episode of yoglabs which on its face makes sense because that’s when cloning was really (re)introduced to the story, but *narratively* maybe Xephos started having multiple copies of his friends existing in multiple places is a failsafe so that if anything happens to their master clones he has a backu-“ *I am dragged off stage and put in a padded room*

so I am going through a lot of the yogs mc series that I never got around to over the years and it is just reminding me how much I love the world that they have built.
Like it doesn't need deep lore or polished storytelling to be powerful. There is such a thematic consistency across so many series with so many different characters.
The transformative power of human connection. how deeply people can care for each other and how sometimes love alone isn't enough - that sometimes people have flaws that doom them if they are not surrounded by others that will push them to become better.
How blind adoration/support only enables the most destructive tendencies within each other. That sometimes you know that, that sometimes you know you aren't the right person to push them to be better, that you know how it will all end but you can't bring yourself to leave.
How the inability to face the consequences of your own actions can doom you and all those you love to more tragedy, to running from more consequences, to more tragedy.
How immortality/escaping death does not guarantee that you grow as a person. How growth is hard and needs to be fought for every step of the way and how easy it is to ignore that responsibility. How that decision will trap you forever.
That maybe everything is worth it for just a little more time with the ones you love, just one more sunny day, just one more laugh, just one more smile. Maybe you can figure it all out if you are given just more chance. Knowing that you are lying to yourself, but the alternative feels impossible to bear.
Each new series feels like watching a good disaster documentary. Even as you know that history has already been decided, that maybe it won't happen this time. Maybe, just once, it will all be okay. And then it happens and you feel the loss anew.
Current understanding of how cloning production started is like how people have to attend a meeting about a timeshare while they are enjoying the place, and the meeting serves as a way to trap them
In this case the “timeshare” could mean literally anything for any given character (-Lalna since that’s a whole different scenario I think) but clearly however the Primes ended up in cloning production has been spun into a positive and something Xephoses/YogLabs personnel aren’t too afraid to mention
I am really interested in learning more about the origins of the cloning system since we really don’t know much for sure about how everything started. There is definitely an air of deception with all of the secrets around cloning so I wouldn’t be surprised if somehow Xephos managed to trick or mislead the Primes into participating.
The whole clone plot line has so much potential for exploring Xephos as a character and his relationship with the Primes versus their clones. It would also be really interesting to know for sure who all has been roped into the pseudo immortality of cloning. Like all of the core Yogs clearly, but who around the periphery is involved also has a lot of potential as a way to understand Xephos’ motivations.
Unfortunately I don’t know if we will ever get that information officially since the nature of the canon is only a few reveals per series. It does leave a lot of room for headcanons/fans to fill in the rest. The semi lore semi let’s play style has always been really collaborative in how it as a format invites the audience to participate in the conversation of what it means for things to be canon and how to parse them from clearly non-canon moments.
Unfortunately, there will always really significant/interesting areas of the lore that will not be developed as a consequence of this format. But if I had to pick one thing to be expanded on, it would be the context around the creation of the clone system
It was always my interpretation or understanding that the Primes willingly, or something to that effect, put themselves in the situation of being cloned perpetually, including the Prime (Prime) Xephos, allowing them to live forever as is the seemingly promoted promise of this concept
The non-stasis Prime Xephos is far more aware of the process and what has been lost to a degree, but it seems like the Primes aren’t even considered a person, more an asset of memories/personalities, hence the immense loss of what the original (true) Honeydew was like on Xephos’ end
Back to your point however it is interesting in the angle that Prime Xephos is trying to hold onto people who slip through his fingers like sand, like clockwork
That was my original understanding too, and I think it is a really interesting framework to see the lore in so I am not trying to argue, just sharing my perspective since it has changed over time!
In Clone Chaos, Xephos refers to the individuals in the vats as “master clones” implying that they themselves are the first clones of each individual. Although he is far from a reliable scourge of information, if they were truly the Primes, saying so could have been used to further convince Honeydew to replace his deceased master clone and additionally fit into the ‘no one lives forever’ moment at the end of the episode.
That combined with Xephos being the only person who (for a long time) knew about the cloning situation also implies that it is something that he has chosen to do to them rather than something everyone agreed to. If everyone agreed to it willingly, there would be no need to hide the truth from them because of their Primes were okay with it and you just gave the clones all of the memories of their Prime then they would also be okay with it. Similarly, in my opinion, it takes a lot more assumptions to think that everyone agreed willingly to both the cloning and the memory erasing than taking Xephos at his word in one instance.
I agree that whoever is in the vats (Primes vs master clones) are not treated as individuals, but more like the memory of the people they correspond to. This also leads me to think that they aren’t the Primes. Thematically it would make more sense for the Primes sacrificing themselves for immortality would be treated as more significant than that, whereas if they are a master clone, they aren’t even the original. Their entire purpose from the moment they came into existence was to be a vehicle for dna and for memories. Nothing more nothing less.
Finally (it could be argued that), not every everyone we know is involved in this process is characterized in a way where they would give up their autonomy in the name of some version of them existing forever. Of course you can come up with any number of explanations for this (they were tricked or their prime would have done it even if the clones would not etc etc), but personally that takes a lot more assumptions than I am willing to make when a far more simple alternative is present.
None of this is to say I dislike the interpretation that the individuals in the cats are the Primes! I think that interpretation puts a lot of weight on the death in Clone Chaos and really centers the tragedy of the cloning plot in general on Xephos and Honeydew’s dynamic specifically which is a lot of fun. It also avoids the many questions around the fate of the Primes which is an added bonus for sure! Knowing Yogs lore I wouldn’t be surprised that if/when we get more information it is a secret third thing that is 50% a bit and 50% deeply serious lol
