Hi! Saw you reblog Zephos' post about making ys a better place this year. My complaint is that the older mods stop harassing younger players and mods. It's a serious issue! I'm not saying this about a particular mod when I say this, but I do really wish some of the mods would try to remain neutral and understanding and patient as well. I've only been on a couple of times, and I see that not a lot of the mods agree with each other and harass people they disagree with a lot.. It's sad.
thank you for sending me the feedback, anon!! its defs a very important and valid point you brought up, and ive discussed it with the mods/admins. since i wasnt present for much of last year myself due to personal issues and there was a big shift in who is going to run ys this year, z has written up the reply instead (which im publishing after getting permission fom both him and the others)!! it does have additions by me and ace at the end.
it’s under a cut for length, but if you have any other concerns, please dont hesitate to contact either me or one of the others linked in the message!
unfortunately this is true and, while i bear no ill intentions behind what i’m saying, a lot of the moderators were adults, and generally over the age of 20.i wasn’t part of the mod team before & i never knew any of the mod team in 2015 (outside of being acquaintances) so i don’t know any in-depth stories about anything that has happened.
for this year, a lot of the older moderators will no longer be taking part in the server. this isn’t because of issues that have arose, and this decision was made by themselves some time ago, but for their own personal reasons. one of them was kind enough to message me and give me their reasonings, and they have left on good terms.
the main administration team currently, as of writing, consists of myself (18 years old) and ace, the owner of the server (around the same age, give or take a year or two). moderators are more of a vague subject, as there still isn’t much decided in that area, but there are several people that the two of us are familiar with & would trust with the task of moderation, who are also within our age range & care deeply about everyone’s safety & emotions.
(also, even if they aren’t moderators around the time the server becomes public, they should still (hopefully) remain in contact with us, so they can tell us any issues that we haven’t caught onto).
it’s worth taking into consideration that we DO joke around a lot: we aren’t a 100% all-the-time serious bunch of people. if any joking or anything of the likes becomes too much for anyone, then i fully encourage those who are uncomfortable to;
log off the server for a moment if that’s their method of coping [expanded on in next point]
if this person has a friend who is online, we can contact the friend and ask them to tell the person when the conversation is over. we also encourage a friend (if there is one online) to tell us if we HAVE said anything that’s upset them – or anyone else in the chat – so we know what the issue is & can drop or ask for the topic to be dropped immediately
contact a member of staff, who will usually be marked with a golden name in-game (this might clash with nicknames, however, this is an area that still needs work). moderators are also listed on the yogsummer blog.
drop an ask to the yogsummer blog, or the personal blogs of an admin or moderator you are comfortable talking to;
TheOriginalNotch - purplebandannaguyZephos - chroshavenmeyecy - meyecy (since you’re comfortable sending them an anon message about your concerns, which is always a good sign)
we talk about a lot of issues with eachother at the moment (the current moderation team & some pals, not previous staff members) so most issues are discussed, even though we may come to disagreements and have periods of falling out.
i also intend to stay neutral on most issues, should they arise, and i want to take as much time as possible to make sure all problems are fixed and that everyone is comfortable & happy =)
(luna/meyecy addition: i also intend to stay as neutral as possible! i know sometimes bringing up issues is very difficult, especially in big groups or with people you don’t know well, so please don’t feel down if you have to ask a friend to bring up problems for you!! we want to be as open as possible and encourage communication. my ask will always be open & have anon enabled, and my skype is available upon request. being here to resolve any problems or interpersonal stuff is my main priority.)
(ace/purplebanannaguy addition: i’m 17 (18 in june), and this’ll be the third year i’ve run yogsummer! i feel like as the server’s gotten bigger, it gets harder and harder to address everyone’s needs, and i think z’s post is a step in the right direction, so we can get a sense of what issues, if any, people might have, and we can discuss and address them!
additionally, i manage nearly all of the technical or more complex aspects of the server, like any complicated commands or redstone, and i manage the server panel and files, so if you have any questions about some of the things you might see or hear about regarding those aspects, they’re best directed at me!)
hi ! i've been thinking about yogsummer recently and i would really really really like to know what people think about it. i'm mainly looking for issues people have had or are currently having because i would really like to bring it up with some folks to have this year be better for more people. i know there were a few people who have had issues with the server this year and thus don't intend to come on. if you're one of those people or if you know one of those people is it ok to tell me what the issues were/ask the person to tell me? i don't mind if it's a big rant or a small anon message, i just really want to make things better for this year !
we finished town hall aka spawn (and are working on one of the material shops)!! please appreciate it because i worked really hard on it & minus and z did all the good parts
warp prisms are… a specialized version of a general prism/pylon. unlike regular prisms, they must have a nether star, not as a catalyst, but as the main component of the technology. nether stars themselves are comprised of incredibly dense materials on the outside, like praseodymium, osmium, or uranium, with a supercompressed core of neutrons at a very high temperature. this combination of elements makes the nether star an amalgamate of the energies of the nether, a concentration of the “essence” of the dimension. the reason it overcharges prisms to such a degree is from its ability to magnify energy it absorbs. on its own, it emits great heat and light, and in a prism, which by itself emits a lot of heat and light too, it just stacks up.
the function in a warp prism is different - the nether star itself is used as the main processor of input. the nether star’s extradimensional energies are multiplied by the prism’s power, such that the star is feeding off the prism rather than the prism feeding off the star. this boost in power (tempered, controlled, and focused by a circuit called a “command block”) allows a prism to instantaneously warp targeted beings to the point dictated by the command block.
there are sometimes complications - upon warp, the teleported being may feel frozen, trapped in time, or ethereal, for a few seconds. this has been measured up to a full minute - when the entity vanished, presumably into a pocket dimension, and reappeared in the same place about 20 seconds later.
