Tw: death, murder, depression

The first time Song Nari fell in love with physics, was when her mum took her up to her workplace (an observatory) she let little Nari look through the telescope, she told her how to zoom in on the moon and how stars were so much more than pieces of sparkle in the sky. After that day, somehow she just knew that she wanted to explore space, understand the way matter worked - learn how to time travel do all those cliche things. It just felt right. 

5 years later, Nari was 15 and she was stood infront of a ‘do not cross sign’ watching as her mothers body was slowly wheeled into the back of an ambulance. Her father was sitting inside, his hands shaking with grief. She didn’t go with them. She just sat there on the street for hours, wondering how she’d ended up in this mess of a state. 

After the funeral things became a lot clearer, her mother was having an affair with a rich politician, she wanted him to leave his family and run away with her.  If he didn’t agree, she would tell everyone about their relationship. She was murdered in her own house a mere week later. So Nari investigated. 

But justice didn’t really come to light, the court case was abruptly halted. Her father was paid off, threatened. Differing alibis and cover ups meant that all the evidence Nari had spent hours finding (in secret of course) was all neglected by the authorities. It was a cover up and a big one. 

This is perhaps where most of her hate came from towards the system she lived in. Nari promised to work harder, her father was now heavily depressed, having lost the money they were given to gambling and being kicked out of work. This meant that she soon took on extra jobs to pay for their living expenses. It meant working night shifts at 16 and doing math equations while cooking, but Nari never gave up and after acing her exams she found herself with a scholarship to Yonsei.  

So currently things are better, Nari works at a cafe on campus and commutes from home (because she still has to pay living expenses for her dad but he’s slowly getting back to work) and took on the role as Leader of the Derelicts at the start of the year, she’s a pretty brazen leader and won’t hesitate to punch someone if they’re bullying one of her clique. But within her group she’s very much a good listener and always there to help out.

       intro posts are always a bit difficult for me so i’ll make it short — we all know this is mostly to introduce minseok and not myself, well, hi i’m chloe (she/her) and i’m pretty excited about this place! i made minseok based on a past character of mine and my imagination lmao, i hope you’ll like him as much as i do !

minseok is 23 and is studying to become a prosecutor (tho he was kind of forced into it and doesn’t really love it)

his family is hella rich, as expected from a student of yonsei, and up until last year he was part of the opulents

at the end of last year he pretty much fucked up (idk how yet lol bear with me) and his parents pretty much gave the “heir” title a.k.a the one who’ll get the business later on to his younger brother. (here i was thinking maybe his younger brother framed him....more drama)

he joined the burnouts because of his ties with some illegal organisations he had when he was still helping his dad with the business- they still got his back and dislike his younger brother (hes actually considering maybe joining as a prosecutor for them) and his charisma and power made him climb to co-leader of the clique pretty fast.... plus getting unofficially kicked out of his past clique made him realize how dumb this clique system is

he’s the vice president of the student council but that’s just because he used to have the position last year as a opulent and the teachers urged him to take the position again and he didn’t want to refuse them

his dream when he was younger was being a professional baseball player so even through his fall from grace, he couldn’t give up the spot of catcher in the team

personality wise, he doesn’t have a lot of interest in other people, he prefers minding his own business... he tends to try to keep a poker face at all time but of course, with people he’s close with he’s a bit friendlier

he can change how he acts pretty easily when needed, he’s super adaptable (something he had learned was important to run a business) which is why he probably blended in in the burnouts well

he gets annoyed easily and can be kind of blunt (ok...............let’s be real he can be an asshole when he wants to that’s what i meant)

i have no plot page (im thinking of maybe making a quick one but .....pretty sure ill end up not doing it) but like this post if you want me to drop to your ims to plot !

hi hello finally an official intro! this is roman, he is part of the opulents and a very insecure boy. But instead of dealing with his insecurities in a good way he’s just a jerk and tries to make life hard for ppl behind the scenes. he used to be a sweet boy but now he’s a lot colder and relationships don’t mean as much to him like they once did. he’s really letting his past eat at him and won’t fix himself smh dfklkf

here’s some tidbits! headcanon tag! and one day i’ll make a real plot page. this is a little bit remodeled character to so I’m not a 100 if all the stuff in that tag will work for him but i edited it some so i think??

he’s 20 yros and political science/french major. an old member of the soccer team and currently in student government. generally involved a lot on campus. his new song is headlines by drake!

history!

his parents were Manhattan’s loved socialites. they were often funding galas, raising money for universities, putting on parties in their grotesquely lavish home. his father was one of the co-founders of a very successful engagement ring company and his mother was a ‘stay-at-home’ wife. they were the perfect example of luxury and happiness. but then came roman.

roman was the third child of this wealthy and well-known family. but he did not come from the woman he calls mom presently. unlike his two legitimate older sisters, he was birthed by his father’s assistant. and this set a deep-rooted hatred for him in his mother’s eyes.

it didn’t matter that he was illegitimate because his father wanted a son. and that was one thing his wife could never give to him. so no matter what, this kid would have his name and be a part of their family.

his birth mother was almost like an overly paid, unprofessional surrogate. when roman was small they discussed an arrangement she could stay, but she could not mention that this was her son. it wouldnt look good if the founder of an engagement ring company was known for having extra-marrital affairs/

anyway long story short at like 3 years old, when rumors started building that roman wasn’t legitimate, they decided it was better to send his birth mother off somewhere. 

though tensions didn’t thin with her gone. growing up roman always felt like he was walking around eggshells. his mother got mad at him over every little thing from how he dressed to not taking out the trash. he was the first to blame even if it wasn’t something he was responsible for.

she was almost pointedly different with his sisters. they were doted on and cared by her. though, admittedly their mom was kinda crappy in general so it can only be so good (always drinking since the whole affair, not coming home as often so like the worst stay-at-home mom out their really. think of real housewives mas thats her)

his father on the other hand paid the most attention to him. while the attention was mostly rooted in his accomplishments, it was still attention his sister’s didn’t get. they could do far better than him, but their efforts didn’t matter like his. he feels incredibly guilty for this and tries to be lowkey about accepting the praise because he realizes how unfair it is

come high school, his parents set up a whole routine for him. he had to be prepped for college so there was no slacking in grades, after school activities, summer programs, and sports. he had to be the best of the best. valedictorian. a perfect candidate for the top schools in the world.

and how else could he be perfect than by becoming someone everyone wanted to meet. they first tried to make him the best soccer player. it didn’t work out. then maybe the most dominant youth political figure. again, he failed. these failures are something his mother rubs in his face

he certainly gained popularity for it but nothing that was enough for his parents to be proud of. he was above-average but he wasn’t the top.

then he was recruited by a modelling agency his oldest sister was a part of. he became incredibly popular for his looks, he even surpassed his sister despite how long she had been with the company

he gained a lot of opportunities through this. idol agencys have asked him to audition, directors wanted him to feature in their movies or music videos.

that attention made him feel good. but when he’d return to school or home where everyone was incredible, he realized how much he wasn’t. if he didn’t get an a on every paper, he’d be pulling out his hair. when he got salutatorian, it ate at every bit of him. the voice of his mother’s disapproval and disappointment became engraved in his head. and soon it started to sound like his own.

he would drown his insecurities in one-night stands and alcohol, though he was always careful about his appearance. he would not let the world know just how lost he was and is.

he puts on the facade of being perfect and having things come naturally to him but the truth is. he works his ass of for those grades and to get to where he’s at

that’s why it pisses him off when things are going easy for someone who doesn’t try or he sees these burnouts having fun and he’s like god what assholes. and its just because he wants that too? he wishes he could live as open as others. not have this constant pressure to be better and compare himself. but that is now a part of who he is.

presently, he still doesn’t know what the fucc he’s doing these majors just sound important so he’s going with it. he’s in a major to become a political figure and he loved modeling in france a lot so he’s thinking of moving over there after graduation or maybe become a representative of the U.S in france (dont roast me i forgot what its called)

he likes to keep himself under the radar. like he’s super involved and he is well-known but he’s like beyonce before lemondae. very quiet about his private life and not many people know all that much about him tbh

he used to be a soccer player and came in with an academic scholarship for that, but after the heavy schedule he dropped it. he’s now vp of student council (but ajfdkl idk if someone took this role or not so dont count me on that. he’s just up there).

more personality bit in those hcs tbh but for one he has a dog called sonny and thats the one person he’s soft for

he’s also homoromantic bisexual but tbh he could be maybe biromantic but he has yet to ever experience that and isn’t even trying to so this is what he believes.

he also really cares about the opulents. like at first he was unwelcoming and just thought they’d be very  aggressively competitive with each other like it was in his high school but he actually feels like they’re a messy family.

OH and about the illegitimate thing. he has his suspicions that there’s something off about him. his sisters have made teases about him not being like the rest of them. he also knows his dad isn’t a faithful man. that wasn’t the only mistress he had and roman has walked in on some things they both wish he hadn’t. but he doesn’t know that he’s actually illegitimate yet.
