(Shou is a Volks Yo-SD Rinon. His clothes are by me and his shoes are by Peter Pan.)
Now reversible~ One side has a little embroidered bow tie, the other has a faux button placket over snaps.

Meet Shou! (Volks Yo-SD Rinon boy)
So, as some may know, I was basically away from the hobby between 2009 and 2018. There was plenty to catch up on when I returned, amongst which was Yo-SD Rinon, released by Volks in 2014. When I saw her, I immediately thought that she looked like a baby SD13 Syo. I know there is an actual Yo-version of Syo, but Yo-SD Rinon gives me much more of a “Syo” feel, somehow. As I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for SD13 Syo, thus was born the idea of getting a Rinon to make into a little Syo.
This Rinon has evidently been well cared-for, because the resin is just slightly yellower than my November 2018 SDM body (which has itself been kept in a dark cupboard all along).
Some dolls take ages to come together, and some I kinda get a grip on right away (as in this case). I named him Shou (my preferred romanisation of Syo), which is short for 翔三 (Shouzo) - the same “shou” kanji as SD13 Syo, in tribute. I’ll probably stick to this hair colour, too, although I may get him a slightly longer cut. The eyes are 14mm Hands glass, which he rescued from the sales pile (I may change them to green, again, in tribute to the original Syo).
I had planned to get Shou a Spiritdoll boy body, since it’s probably the closest to the Volks body in size and colour, whilst allowing me to add a new body type to my collection, but! the one-piece torso that Rinon comes with looks really, really good for a boy!... albeit it’s technically a female torso... It will look perfect with shorts in warm weather. I'll just enjoy him on this body for a bit, while I mull over my options.
Not unexpectedly, his head is huge, especially beside my ASAI Mira and Murphy. XD;; It even looks slightly bigger than Volks Kanon, who held the previous “record” in my crew. I’ll have to be a bit careful taking photos of them together.
In any case, I’m very taken with my newest doll, and greatly enjoying having him near me as I work~ ^-^
A sunny goodbye to Alishan; pit stop with mountain macaques; beautiful weather at 日月潭Sun Moon Lake; gelato at Feeling 18° (my favourite was the 马告mountain pepper sea salt!); getting comfy at the next 民宿B&B.
I thinned this wig out all over and added some layers to the top and bottom - I'm liking it a lot more now! (compare with my previous post)
Pardon the unfinished bottoms, they are a pair of overalls in progress. (Incidentally, the pointelle top is the same (then unfinished) piece from the previous post.) The fabric is a dusty teal linen/cotton, it's nice to work with and I really like how it looks against his skin. I'm hoping to share this pattern if it turns out well.
