*the next day, IHY Luigi and the kids decided to hang out with Yoshi Bones to further understand their universe while waiting for Luggo's powers to come back*
*they stumbled upon a dark cave, which was oddly small, but big enough to house any animals*
*in the middle of it was a mirror glowing ominuously. IHY Luigi took a look at the mirror, and looked away immediately*
LDO Luigi: Uncle? Is there something wrong?
IHY Luigi: This mirror shows you what you could've been.
Lucas: (tilts head) How did you even know that?
*IHY Luigi glances back at the mirror*
IHY Luigi: Because when I look at it, I see myself in my brother's situation.
*a beat, then he turns around*
You guys can take a look at the mirror, I'll check the outside for any of this universe's Bowser's goons roaming around.
Lucas: Woah! I look taller!
LDO Luigi: Wait, so I could've been a smoker?! I'm glad I didn't become that!
Yoshi Bones was a bit curious. He decides to take a look at the mirror, himself.
In the reflection was... something he never thought he'd see again. A face he had almost forgotten.
He can't help but ponder what events have never happened that would lead to him... well, not being undead. A different turn in his and Mario's journey? A better ending, somehow? A world where Bowser never manipulated Luigi?
The interior he saw was vaguely familiar, too. Peach's Castle...? The reflection mirrored his own saddened expression, but it looks more like pity than anything- as if the reflection sees him, too, and feels sorry for him. But other than that, he seemed happier. Everything in the reflection seems happier, for what little he's seen.
And as much as Yoshi Bones pondered the circumstances of what led to such a drastic change... After everything that has happened recently, he's beginning to wonder if it's even possible to have this, anymore.
