Scale Mount Fuji…From Your Desk

Google’s Japan-based Street View map team has recently climbed Mount Fuji via the popular Yoshida Trail. If you’ve ever wanted to go mountain climbing, but didn’t have the money or the time to invest in equipment and climbing lessons, you can now take a virtual trip up Mount Fuji through the Google Street View images. These images are not just helpful for desk mountaineers that cannot brave the real elements. They also provide real mountain climbers with a preview of trail conditions, so they can be better prepared. Since Mount Fuji has recently obtained UNESCO World Heritage Site status, the number of climbers is likely to increase for this summer climbing season.
