Hi Emiii! I feel that this is a rather dumb question, but I have tried to research it and I'm not quite getting it so I hope you can help me clear this up... What is "Lizmelo"? Is it actually a subset of the Liz Lisa brand? Is it Sanrio? Is it just a girly My Melody with Liz Lisa style? Where does it even come from? I don't feel like I've ever seen it in a Japanese store before, yet ebay/yahoo auctions are full of it - so are they fakes? Thank you so much and I love your blog!

Afaik, it’s still kind of a collaboration between Sanrio and Liz Lisa but it’s not sold through Liz Lisa stores so it’s not exactly a Liz Lisa product and has it’s only labels/tags/branding. It was commonly sold through Shimamura (https://www.shimamura.gr.jp/shimamura/) where clothes have a much lower retail price. Ex. dresses retail closer to $35-40. They’re not fakes but they aren’t the same quality or kinds of designs since they have a different vendor and target customer.

I could be wrong a lot about a lot of that because I can’t read very much Japanese but that’s just my impression based on what I could figure out a few years ago.

It could be. Tbh I’ve never really followed the Rakuten shop myself, but they also removed the list of other webstores on lizlisa.com.
