Two Vampire Hunter D Releases Announced by Dark Horse

During Anime NYC 2026, Dark Horse announced a new Vampire Hunter D comic book series, Vampire Hunter D: Fortress of Blood, as well as a manga adaptation titled Vampire Hunter D: Rose Princess.

Vampire Hunter D: Fortress of Blood is a new four issue comic book series based on writer Hideyuki Kikuchi and illustrator Yoshitaka Amano's novels. The comic is written by Chris Condon, drawn by Filipe Andrade, colored by Jordie Bellaire, and lettered by Frank Cvetkovic.

"A vampire lord has marshalled his forces and is marching on human settlements, aiming to leave no survivors! The old fortress stands in his path to the next city, and within it is a family of outcasts who must buy enough time for humans to flee from the bloodbath. Wandering that same path is the indomitable hunter, the terrifyingly beautiful half-human, half-vampire known as D." (Dark Horse)

Vampire Hunter D: Fortress of Blood #1 (of 4) goes on sale on December 16, 2026. The main cover is by Filipe Andrade with variant covers by Riccardo Federici and Yoshitaka Amano. Future covers are by Emma Rios, Dan Quintana, and Eliza Ivanova.

Vampire Hunter D: Rose Princess Volume 1 sees Saiko Takaki adapting part one of Hideyuki Kikuchi's iconic story for manga. The English translation is by Kevin Leahy.

"The village of Sacri is a fertile oasis on the otherwise barren frontier. But Sacri’s prosperity comes at a steep price! The ruling noble, an immortal vampire princess, feasts on the villagers at her whim. When a young man attempts to save his lover from being bitten, the princess sends her four savage knights to punish the petulant villagers. Vampire Hunter D: Rose Princess Volume 1 goes on sale on June 29, 2027.

Located the artbook of Zenos drawn by Yoshitaka Amano. High-quality version scanned by yours truly!

Apologies in advance for a bit of rant, but I've been on a mission to locate the source since seeing the Zenos Yoshitaka Amano artwork taken by phone 😅

Over several nights of researching and looking through various Amano artbooks, I had given up. Then on a whim, I picked up the search again and came across an Amano artbook cover I KNOW I had never seen before, "天野喜孝 秘蔵作品集 - Collected Paintings of Amano's World".

It's an artbook featuring some of Amano's unreleased art. The artbook released in 2024 and the book itself is rare. From my search, it was a limited release in Japan that sold out fairly quickly. There was some distribution that may likely have been limited as well. My copy was second hand from a reseller in Japan.

The artbook has other notable art I've never seen before. So while my initial reason to get this artbook was for the Zenos art, it's nice to have for his other artworks too ❤️
