. He’s 14 but his regressed age is 4 and he lives with his step-mum, dad, 8 year old brother, 6 year old sister, 4 year old sister and two cats.

. He regresses for fun and due to stress. None of his family knows he regresses and he’d like to keep it that way. But his best friends Liz and Julia know and are His caregivers; He loves them so much!

. His comfort objects when he regresses are his stuffed dog honey, his pacifier and his Gabbys dollhouse cat ears. (has to to wear them every time he regresses)

. He absolutely loves to watch shows and movies like tiger who came to tea, peter rabbit (1993 BBC version) and adventures of Paddington.

. He owns a Yoto player his uncle got him and his siblings to share for Christmas but since they were not interested in it he uses it and has a large card collection he loves listening to. Some of his favourite cards are his Shirley Hughes, BBC playschool, Andy and the odd socks cards.

. He doesn’t have many toys but his favourite ones are his magnetic tiles he got from his parents for Christmas and the Lovevery toys he got at a garage sale. He only buys quality toys for his regression as he’s sort of picky with his toys!

. He loves reading when he’s little despite not being able to and has a nice picture book collection next to his reading chair. His favourite book is dogger by Shirley Hughes (he loves Shirley Hughes books!). He also loves where the wild things are and goodnight moon. Kevin usually gets Liz or Julia to read to him as they don’t mind.

. He also loves to wear his jools Oliver little bird rainbow jumper with jeans.

I got Little Man a Yoto Player (an audiobook player) and we are loving it so far. We can play music from the app and I bought some classical music cards to start with it. We're starting to listen to music during breakfast.

I also bought The Little Engine That Could and The Very Hungry Caterpillar that we've been listening to as well. It's a little bit over his level developmentally since there's no pictures to look at, but he still listens as well as he can as a 1 year old. I see us getting plenty of use out of this until he's at least 12 years old.

My 4 year old was listening to the Yoto Daily podcast today and they did a quiz. They asked who painted the Mona Lisa and the options were Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Raphael. I could just see the little gears turning in his head like "you're telling me... a Ninja Turtle painted this?"

Confused and amused by my son's Yoto Player. It has a "radio" setting where it plays their Yoto radio. It's a great option for kid friendly music. I'm a bit confused by their choice of songs though, lol. When we turned it on, it was on a song about hibernation. That's great and fine, then it played "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from Encanto. Cool! We get some fun Disney songs! Next was a song about Hanukkah...from my understanding that ended a week ago, yes? The next song was in Hebrew I think, but I obviously have no idea what it was about. Now we're on our second Christmas song in a row directly following the Hanukkah songs. I admire the diversity and recognition of multiple religions/holidays, but both are over now 😅. I would have no questions if it was the beginning of the month since we'd be getting ready for both still. I have a feeling they just choose a bunch of songs for each month and play them the whole month.

Edit: I do find it interesting that we haven't heard a Christian Christmas song yet, they've all been secular. I'm not bothered by this, it's just interesting.

Special Interest Stuff

Kiku originally wanted the original toniebox , but just learned that Target is going to have the pink toniebox 2with the Ms. Rachel tonie 😭😭😭 We want it so bad 😭 Its a light pink, while the original is a hot pink (like hot pink but light pink is favorite followed by magenta) 🥺🥺 Want it so bad. And there so many tonies Kiku want. Special interests hard sometime. Really want but probably going sell out fast. 🥺

Kiku also really want yoto mini with pink case. But Kiku downloaded the yoto play app to see how accessible it is, and they have some free stuff can play through phone. Been using it to wind down at night and use the toothbrush timer. Makes fun so can actually brush two minutes like supposed to. Plus theres Slumberkins yoto cards. 🥺

Part of why want them is so have more options for screenfree stuff because motor loops, and to help with routine because there are tonies and yoto cards themed around that.

Kiku loves the nls talking book player and braille display but theres not as much kids media as was hoping. So hope one day have toniebox, yoto player, and a CD player along with talking book player and braille display. (Talking book player and braille display for more young adult books, toniebox and yoto mini for kids media, and CD player for music can't get on toniebox and yoto player.)

Kiku prefers physical media where possible. (the toniebox and yoto aren't exactly physical media but they are closer than like... Spotify.)

Durability is another reason Kiku wants the yoto player and toniebox, many things do not hold up to Kiku. 😅 Kiku has broken many thing without meaning to, including a walkman (it was old when got it and dropped it a lot) and the toniebox and yoto mini were designed to stand up to toddlers so hopefully will hold up to Kiku too.

One thing Kiku found interesting is when Kiku asked people in a group Kiku is in on facebook how they felt about tonies and yoto is that a lot (but not all) suggested the yoto player over the toniebox, because the tonie is more aimed at younger kids. But that's what Kiku wants. 😂😂 Adults always seem confused because Kiku often prefers baby or toddler marketed things. Its interesting. Kiku knows our experiences are very different than neurotypical singlets and non age regressors. But don't think about it most of the time. Kiku is like... 15 at max because of autism and trauma, and sometimes feel way younger because age sliding and age regression. Kiku rarely engages with adult media, especially adult books, because they are too complex, or too heavy, or just don't interest Kiku. And Kiku cannot focus on things that not interested in.
