Poetic Justice
Poetic Justice: An outcome in which vice is punished and virtue rewarded usually in a manner peculiarly or ironically appropriate, usually without the intervention of another party actively seeking to reward or punish.
Quintessence: the most perfect ideal or example.
Yotsuba’s story arc is the quintessence of poetic justice. She’s also the quintessence of selflessness, devotion, kindness, purity, and love. Fuutarou, don’t you ever let that angel go!
Here’s the bride on the cover of Volume 13 of Go Toubun No Hanayome, aka The Quintessential Quintuplets...
And here’s Yotsuba in chapter 2 of the manga...
Can there be any doubt? That’s Yotsuba all right! When I saw the cover art for volume 13 of Go Toubun No Hanayome, I immediately thought back to this panel from chapter 2. She’s a bit more self conscious in the panel from chapter two, but the same vulnerable emotion is being communicated in both images with almost exactly the same facial expression. They may be identical quintuplets, but that adorable expression is uniquely Yotsuba’s. I’m smiling!
Why Fuutarou chose Yotsuba
"Thank you for being by my side.”
There is more to Fuutarou’s choice of juice = Yotsuba over the alternatives of black tea = Nino, green tea = Miku, or coffee = Ichika. Look at the type of juice Fuutarou chose: orange juice. Yotsuba likes eating mandarins, a variety of oranges. Fuutarou specifically chose Yotsuba’s favorite type of juice.
So I found this lovely fanart and I had to post it because it’s too damn sweet not to! Kudos to the artist, whoever you are! It’s perfect! What I like about this work is how both Fuutarou and Yotsuba are totally in character. It’s a moment I could absolutely picture happening in the manga or the anime. I especially love the fact that the artist drew Fuutarou grabbing his hair just above his eyes, something he does when he’s feeling self-conscious. And why wouldn’t he? For so long, Fuutarou was Mr. “most school relationships usually end, what a waste of time.” Well look at him now, walking with his beautiful and very popular new girlfriend by his side clutching his arm! “Good grief, what are my classmates gonna say,” Fuutarou muses as he anticipates the teasing he’ll get from his peers for betraying his old ideals. But his musing is short lived. Remember all those rumors about the class reps? Everyone else saw it coming a mile away, and if they’re thinking anything, it’s “well it’s about time!” or “you lucky bastard!” As for Yotsuba, her cheerful demeanor is no longer just a brave facade, conceiling dark feelings of guilt, shame, failure, and inadequacy from the world. For the first time, she’s finally able to love herself and receive love from those around her, and especially from a certain boy she’s loved for a long time. So naturally, she’s blissing out as she clutches her boyfriend Fuutarou’s arm. And when Fuutarou realizes the only teasing he gets is from Maeda and Takeda for denying he was in love, Yotsuba ribs him about it until he drops his serious guy act, loosens up and starts beaming. Then they tease him about the fact that he’s (gasp!) actually smiling! Will wonders never cease? Mr. Lucky indeed!
Chapter 121: Fuuts x Yots is canon.
It’s literally written on the first page of chapter 121. Groom: Uesugi Fuutarou. Bride: Nakano Yotsuba.
Let this mangacap finally put to rest any desperate theories disputing Yotsuba as the bride. They even live together in Tokyo!
