Chapter Two of You Started Something is up!!
Clarke plays in the first match of the SheBelieves Cup. But first... there's a surprise waiting for her!
Lexa... poor Lexa... lol... She hangs out with Anya and has a mostly harmless little accident...
There was a time when Clarke Griffinwould have sworn on a stack on a stack of holy books that she had game.
No.
Game. With a capitol ‘G’.
Clarke Griffin had Game.
She had grown up with the world at herfeet. She had the education, the connections, the looks, the body, and thatspark that just drew people in.
Really, she’d never had to try.
Like moths to a flame, women wouldgravitate to her.
But that was before.
Now, there’s Lexa.
Clarke sighed, smiling to herself at themere thought of her newest… Crush?
Gross.
She sighed and rubbed both hands overher face.
Clarke Griffin didn’t do crushes. Shewas the crushee, not the crusher.
Still…
One accidentally liked Instagram pictureand a few months later and Clarke was hooked.
Stolen kisses and blushing smiles weresustaining Clarke’s life.
They’d had a fight earlier. Well, maybenot a fight but a disagreement.
The press had caught on to them. To thefact they were hanging out whenever they were in the same city. Someone hadsnapped a picture of them dancing in New York last week. It wasn’t completelyinnocent but Lexa’s fake boyfriend was in the picture too, smiling at the twoof them like he thought they were adorable, while Clarke’s supposed girlfrienddanced behind them with another woman.
That was the one thing that stoppedTitus from trying to force Clarke out of the picture completely. John andNiylah Murphy were in on the whole thing and fully supported them.
When Lexa had said they needed to be morecareful, that her fans couldn’t know, couldn’t find out about them… Clarkehadn’t liked that. She wasn’t about to be forced back into the closet. She’dmade the conscious decision to use her platform to advocate for the LGBTcommunity and she wasn’t about to stop that.
But could she hurt Lexa?
If being with Lexa would hurt hercareer, which was just now really taking off? What could Clarke do? What should she do? Stay away?
A knock on the door drew Clarke out ofher own head.
She glanced at the clock on the stove. The bright red numbers told her it was five minutes to midnight.
Another knock pulled her eyes to thedoor. She knew the security gate was closed so it had to be someone with thecode.
“Clarke?”
It was the voice Clarke had been hopingto hear.
“Lexa?”
She hurried to unlock the door, throwingit open to reveal a very frazzled looking Lexa.
“Hi.” Lexa smiled up at her, it didn’treach her eyes though. “Did I wake you?”
“No.” Clarke shook her head and steppedto the side.
Lexa stepped inside. She wrapped herarms around herself and hugged tightly. She hadn’t meant to show up on Clarke’sdoorstep when she’d stormed out of her apartment.
“Are you okay? Did you drive over here?”Clarke asked from behind her, locking the door.
“No,” Lexa replied quietly.
There was a moment of hesitation. Clarketurned to stare at Lexa’s back, not completely sure what to do. Or what she wasallowed to do. Then she saw Lexa’s head drop and her shoulders trembleslightly.
That made Clarke’s decision for her. Shestepped forward and wrapped Lexa in her arms, pulling her back into a tightembrace.
“I’ve got you, Lex. Whatever happened,it’s going to be okay.” Clarke whispered as she lowered her mouth to Lexa’sshoulder and pressed a light kiss there.
“I… uh… I couldn’t sleep. Titus…” Lexasaid softly. She shook her head and cleared her throat. “I couldn’t sleep. CanI stay here? Just for the night?”
“You know you’re always welcome, Lex.”Clarke replied, her lips still pressed to her shoulder.
Lexa nodded. She pulled in a deep breathbefore allowing herself to turn in Clarke’s embrace and bury her face inClarke’s chest. She smiled when she felt Clarke’s arms tighten around her againand her head resting on her own.
“I don’t know what Titus did this timebut I’ll help you handle it in the morning. I’ve got you back.” Clarke saidsoftly.
For a few minutes they stood in thefoyer of Clarke’s massive house. Lexa allowed herself to burrow into Clarke andsigh. Clarke’s hands rubbed up and down her back, soothing her in a way she hadn’trealized she needed to be soothed.
“C’mon, love.” Clarke said softly.“Let’s get you to bed. I’m sure I’ve got something you can wear.”
Ten minutes later, Lexa was standing inone of the guest rooms, wearing one of Clarke’s sleeveless t-shirts that was probablya size too big for her and some soccer shorts she’d rolled a time or two. Shestared at the bed, huge and incredibly comfortable looking.
But…
Making up her mind she turned on herheel and left the room. She hurried down the hallway and the stairs. She took aleft and moved down the short hallway before reaching the ornate double doorsto the master’s suite.
Lexa had been inside Clarke’s roombefore. They’d had long movie nights and had spent days where Lexa tried all ofClarke’s hats or jerseys on.
She’d been invited those times.
Without knocking, she entered the room. She could hear water running in the bathroom, it sounded like Clarke wasbrushing her teeth. Lexa turned to the right, moving into the bedroom itself. There was the huge California king bed, the arm chairs and chest of drawers. Some of Clarke’s paintings were on the walls. There was a sketch of Lexa, oneClarke had worked on when Lexa had fallen asleep on a towel while Clarke hadbeen surfing. That had been the second time Clarke took her to her beach house.
“Lex?”
Glancing over her shoulder, Lexa blushedat Clarke’s state of undress. She was wearing a sports bra and boxers slung lowon her hips.
“Everything okay?” Clarke asked, movingcloser to her. “Did you need another blanket or something?”
Lexa only shook her head and turned toface Clarke. “You got a new tattoo.”
Glancing down at her side, Clarke smiledat her newest ink. “A few days ago, yeah.”
“Trees?”
Clarke turned and lifted her arm, givingLexa a better view. It was small grouping of small trees. “I was feelinginspired.”
“I can see that.” Lexa reached out totrace the inked trees. She smiled. “I think I’m flattered.”
Without another word, Clarke smiled andscooped Lexa up in her arms.
“I need to get some sleep,” Clarke said. She leaned in slowly, wanting to give Lexa a chance to protest, before shecaught Lexa’s lips in a sweet kiss. “Any chance I can convince you to sleep inhere with me? I can put on some more clothes if it would make you morecomfortable.”
“I’m not uncomfortable.” Lexa respondedquickly.
“No?” Clarke smirked as she headedtoward her bed.
Lexa shook her head again. She bit herlip when Clarke lowered her to the bed. Then she scrambled under the blanketsand sighed.
It was like lying on a cloud!
Clarke moved to her closet, switchingher sports bra out with a tank top, before turning out all the lights andmoving to the bed. She could just make out the silhouette of Lexa in the middleof her bed.
It was a sight she knew she could getused to.
She pulled back the blankets and slidinto the bed. She double checked her alarm was set for her morning workout withRaven before setting her phone on her nightstand. Then Clarke settled on herback, one arm bent with her hand behind her head while the other hand wassplayed out on her stomach.
Less than a minute later and she feltLexa stirring next to her. She was moving closer.
Before Clarke knew what was happeningshe felt Lexa’s head on her shoulder. Then she was moving even closer, nuzzlingher face into Clarke’s neck, her hand slipping under Clarke’s tank top, fingersspread over taut muscles. One of her legs was thrown over Clarke’s, hookingaround her knees.
Cautiously, Clarke moved her hand frombehind her head to wrap her arm around Lexa, pulling her just a little closer. Her free hand wandered up and down Lexa’s arm.
“Thank you for letting me in, Clarke.”Lexa whispered, her voice laced with sleep already.
“Thank you for knowing I’d let you in nomatter what stupid things I said earlier.” Clarke replied.
Lexa giggled and shook her head.Clarke’s breath caught in her throat when she felt lips pressed to her neck. “Ijust couldn’t be alone tonight. Not after Titus and Nia decided to show up atmy place. It was the last thing I wanted to deal with after our… our fight thisafternoon.”
Clarke’s arms tightened around her for asecond. “We’ll talk about all that tomorrow. You’re off right? No meetings orrecording sessions?”
“Nope. I’m all yours.”
“I like the sound of that,” Clarke said. She turned her head, pressing a kiss to Lexa’s forehead. “Go to sleep, Lex.I’ve got you.”
Silence fell then. They both shifted, moving together to find the most comfortable position to sleep in while stillholding each other.
After a few minutes, Clarke sighed andkissed Lexa’s forehead again. “Hey, Lex?”
“Yeah?” She breathed.
“You’re not alone.”Clarke said softly. “No matter what happens, I’ll always be with you.”
Can I jump in the Taylor Swift bandwagon for YSS? The song Dress! So sexy!
Right??
Let me tell you, I’ve listened to that album I don’t know how many times. Know what I noticed? She doesn’t use a whole lot of pronouns!! My sister is a diehard fan. My best friends is completely indifferent to Taylor. But!! When we’re all together and drinking my best friend just repeatedly tells my sister Taylor is “tots gay. Or bi. Or… LEGO!” (Lego is drunk friend speak for LGBT… I don’t understand it either…) Her analysis if ‘Dancing With Our Hands Tied’ makes me laugh every single time.
So yeah. Moral of that story? That whole album is queer. No one can tell me otherwise.
YSS: Lexa reaching her arms up acting like she's gunna kiss Clarke(who is taller). Clarke saying "aww babe, you're too short", so she leans down. Lexa puts her in a headlock instead and takes her down onto the bed, standing over her smugly saying "who's the short one now asshole". Which leads to Clarke pulling her down on the bed leading to a tickle fight and hot makeout session. The carefree nature of this I love!
I love the height difference!! I cannot wait to start writing this fic!!
Anyone else excited for Butch!Clarke and Femme!Lexa??
I love that you are using “I did Something Bad” for YSS. Do you think you will incorporate more songs into the fic? I personally love TSwift so that would be like totally cool and amazing if her songs were the ones Lexa wrote. Plus I totally see Femme Lexa as a TSwift type of singer.
I think she starts the fic as a sort of jazz-inspired fringe singer and writer but as she gains independence from Titus and confidence in her abilities, she morphs into a more pop-inspired singer and writer
YSS: Lexa had a really horrible day, having 2 deal with Titus, his dumbass opinions on how she's supposed 2 present herself in the media's eye n how being w/Clarke isn't helping that. She's in a really bad mood on her way home. When she walks in, she sees Clarke n tells her Don't do it! You better not do it! All Clarke has 2 do is smile the special, silly smile 4 only Lexa n she can't help but smile back,bc she loves that woman so much n her simple, silly smile, the 1 that lights up her whole world!
Yes!! This!!
I normally hate writing “bad guys” but Titus and Nia in this one? Bad guys.
Going to parent/teacher conferences, one of the teachers has a thing for Clarke and is quite flirty with her. Does Lexa call her out on it or does she physically do things to make it damn well known Clarke is with her? And how does she do it?
Lexa gets all puffy and proud. Her hand is on Clarke’s thigh or rubbing Clarke’s back. She’s making eye contact with the teacher, narrowing her eyes ever so slightly.
And Clarke? Oblivious to the flirting. She’s listening to the teacher and smiling at Lexa.
Except for YSS Clarke. She’s fully aware of the interest. So she grab’s Lexa’s chair and pulls it closer to her so she can drape an arm around Lexa’s shoulders. She plays with Lexa’s hair and whispers in her ear. Lexa doesn’t have to do a thing to show Clarke is taken, Clarke takes care of that for her.
