I said I take requests, so I'm caving to a fan's demands. This is an analysis on the CHARACTER more than the episode, just clearing that up! The man comes from a location below the Earth, and whenever he appears, people become disoriented and forget his appearance. No descriptions beyond male, tan jacket, and deerskin suitcase, are given. He is a nice guy and a fly salesman, but this is his only personality trait. The man appears in the first episode of 2013, and has been mentioned frequently ever since. He is able to enter and exit the Dog Park voluntarily, and his flies are house broken. But what does he symbolize and why is he important? He seems nice and is on good terms with the angels, so that's a good sign. The big tip off to the character though is Carlos' encounter with him. As soon as the man leaves, Carlos asks Cecil to coffee, and then adds in a bit about the police and calling the mayor. Carlos was interested in the clocks, so the man may have been trying to tell Carlos to contact someone important. Later, he petitions the reopening of the ghost subway. If the man does come from the center of the earth, and the subway went anywhere and everywhere, the Man needs it to get home. Whatever his mission, it should be fulfilled Ultimately, I feel this man is another benefactor to Night Vale, similar to the Angels. Whenever he's around, he does not hurt anyone. In fact, they all make good decisions after he comes. The flies are also serviceable to humans, and could be new workers for the town. If Night Vale does go to war with StrexCorp, the Man in the Tan Jacket is a good person to have on your side.
