Our 3rd drawing challenge in the You Can Draw It! Facebook group (link in bio)! This week, we had to draw "an animal with a pig body, alligator head and monkey feet" --- this is what my brain conjured up!! 🙂 Meet Delphin. He was born in the Atchafalaya Basin in 1956. As a tiny Alligator, he would swim and swim and swim. One day he found himself in the Gulf of Mexico, having swam all the way down the Atchafalaya River. Out in the Gulf, he became friends with a group of Brown Pelicans that told him amazing stories of flying and being able to land in trees, catch fish and float for hours on top of the water. Delphin dreamed of being a bird, until he was basking in the sun one day and met a pig named Cochon. Cochon told him stories of running wild, wallering in the mud, eating till he couldn't stand up and then basking in the sun until he was hungry again. Delphin thought "what a wonderful life" and started dreaming about being a pig, until he met Lisette. She was a beautiful Orangutan that escaped from the New Orleans Zoo after Hurricane Katrina. Lisette told stories of how wonderful it was to swing from tree to tree, all across the Atchafalaya swamps and never have to even touch the ground for miles. Delphin thought how wonderful that would be and started dreaming of being an Orangutan. One day, Delphin was swimming in the gulf and all of a sudden a huge Dolphin approached and said his name was "Delphin", the Greek Sea God, which also translates to "Dolphin". The Sea God Dolphin had never met another "Delphin", so he said "I will grant you one wish" and one wish only! Carefully thinking about what he would wish for and knowing all of the things he had wished to become, The Sea God and Delphin arrived at a conclusion. And now, Delphin, once a curious and adventurous little Alligator is known by all in the basin. Even though humans have never encountered him [he's very good at hiding], he's always there! Just look up! 🤗💕 . . . #flyingalligator #characterart #kathyhardy #myhandmadelife #youcandrawit #alligatorpig #procreate (at Pisgah Forest, North Carolina) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cbamya5uUM1/?utm_medium=tumblr
