Council honours memory of local musical legend …
Boulting Borough Council have announced the first headliners on the newly-renamed main stage at their blues festival.
Following the sad demise of the event’s founder organiser guiding spirit (and frequently appearing performer) the prime performance space was earlier this year rechristened in his name as a mark of respect for the years of work he put in to make the annual shindig the success it has become.
“He WAS the Boulting Blues Festival,” Mr N. Erk, head of the council’s Entertainments, Sanitation and Parking department said, “for most of the first thirty years of its existence he did all the organising, promotion, talent booking and hotdog cooking. Even after the council shoehorned its way into the deal he still had considerable influence, over selection of the acts and other artistic matters involved in the running of the affair.”
“So this year, the first without his valued input, we the council have decided to mark the solemn occasion by booking as headliners (on the very stage that now bears his name) all the kinds of acts that he’d have put his foot down over and blocked over matters of taste, integrity and credibility. So there.”
