Emerald Oceanview Park Towers....the developers should have known better by the name. Loaded with bad feng shui. Four words, 26 letters. The name was too long, by one word. The number of letters bad, bad, bad.
The number four, and all numbers with the digit 4 in them (14, 24, 34, 40-49, etcetera) are unlucky and it is considered an unlucky number in Chinese because it is nearly homophonous to the word "death." Imagine telling potential Chinese investors that "the project is composed of four towers"....it would sound like, "the project is composed of death towers...."
On top of that, "six" in Cantonese has a similar pronunciation to the word 落, meaning "to drop, fall, or decline;" it may form unlucky combinations...like in 26. Falling twice?
Asians are very superstitious and the trouble that Younex has had with this project only adds to the notion of bad luck associated with the towers.
The South Korean government's restructuring of the troubled banks, Younex and Hanil are the least of the developer's problems. Getting scaredy cat consumers to buy into this plagued project will be even harder than convincing a reporter things are moving forward any time soon. LOL.
Here's an idea: come to terms with the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority to take over the construction and finish it out as a new public hospital on a least-to-own basis. Each tower can have dedicated purposes: Pediatric/Ob-Gyn, Geriatrics, Surgical, Hospice Care and Wellness and Prevention. The old hospital can be converted into a Guam Safety Center housing GPD and GFD, and a multilevel parking garage.
