He remembers the clear image of a mechanical hand. He had been staring at it for a particularly long time, attempting to memorize all the mechanisms, joints, connections, and gears within the palm and the fingers. He remembers this hand being broken and twitching - sparks flying with wires prodding out of the small gaps between where the knuckles would be.

It was at the end of a white sleeve. His own hand.

“Kane, how....how did you get that strong?”

The frantic voice of his father. He looked up to see the astonished look on Gazpaccio’s face. The ordeal that happened an hour prior was when they were confronted by the Tortellini family - outraged that their business had fallen, and physically attempted to rid them out of the picture. Kane promptly took care of them, but at a cost after he delivered one hefty blow to a face.

“I just am.” He replied calmly.

There was a look of concern on Gazpaccio’s features. He kept his distance from the other end of the room before leaving through the door. Kane was too preoccupied with his hand - grabbing some tools in preparation to repair himself. His father seemed too frightened to fix him now, so he’d have to do it himself.

As he sat there and undid the screws of his fingers with his left hand, he recalls feeling an odd sensation. One of...satisfaction. How easily those crabs had fallen after he hit them - perfectly dodging their counterattacks, leaving every one of them unconscious after they attempted to harm him. It was all so easy - how weak they felt under his grip...

His first taste of violence.

He takes one good look at this version of himself before grabbing a long, golden sword similar to his own. He hands it to him without much expression.

“If you can even muster up the courage to harm someone, then you should use this.”

"Hello, other Father. Can I become your new son? Please?" (Good!Kane to Gazpaccio)

Immediately, Gazpaccio recognizes the heart. He can hear its familiar beating; the look of Kane so many years ago brings delight to his eyes. He stands there in disbelief before coming forward and laying a hand on his shoulder.

This is what he always wanted. What he could’ve had, if he didn’t make the mistake so long ago.

“I do not know how long I have dreamed of this moment. It feels like an eternity.”

He tears up a little, promptly wiping them away.

“You could be my second chance...”

"Are you... me? Are you Kane? Why do you look so different? So serious?" (For Kane from Good!Kane!)

Kane looks at his carbon copy. The first thing he notices is their clothes, the next being the faint sound of a heart beating. He’d recognize that dreadful thing anywhere.

“You’re wearing the rags I used to wear all those years ago…” He starts quietly. He stands tall and eyes him with virtually no expression. “Father actually gave you the heart.”

“Have you not left him already? He will do the same things to you as he did to me.” He warns. “-And with that heart, you’re nothing more than his puppet. He will want you to fix his mistakes, be the artist he’s always wanted to be - and in the end, you’ll find father cared nothing of you, but himself.”

“You are me, but I rebelled. I knew better.”
